Growing Hair Longer

I have a bit of a strange question here, but hopefully there is maybe an answer?

Is there anyway at all to speed up the growth of my hair? I have been growing now for some time, but I get so upset waiting as it seems to be taking so long. All my families hair grows very quickly but mine seems to take forever?

Any ideas? or do i just have to sit this out?

Being in good health helps. So make sure you get enough exercise and sleep. Try to avoid having lots of stress or tension. That's not very good for you.

I'm not sure how well it can help, but vitamins and protein are said to help.

And then just take good care of your hair so that it doesn't break or fall out!

..what the person above me said.

Have a well-balanced diet (so you're providing nutrients), take good care of your hair.

and I think go in for an occaisonal trim every month or so, just to trim the ends. Supposedly that works too.

oh, and above all..be patient. depending how short your hair is to start with, it may take awhile before you have long flowing locks.

people would ask me how long it took to grow my hair out and I told them it was about a year.

..and if you're cursed with curly or wavy hair like me (see attached) it will be longer than it looks.

(so if you get it straightened one day you think "wow, where'd all that length come from?!)

How long have you been growing out your hair? An average person's hair should grow at least 3-4 inches in length in about 6 months or so.

It usually takes a year for me to wear a ponytail from scratch (shaved head).

Of course, genetic/race, seasons (Summer grows the fastest/Winter the slowest), and health - they all matter too.

I used to have way long hair, some tips: Do take very good care of it. Always condition and brush it, brushing gently from the bottom up so you don't get mega-tangles and end up pulling out half of it. The more you brush, in general, the less tangled it'll be, and the more you'll be able to spread the oils from your scalp over it, which sounds gross but it's good for your hair. So, like in the morning, at night, before you shower, after you shower, I don't think you can brush it too much so long as you're gentle with it.

Don't rinse it with water that's too hot, and don't blow dry or straighten it, that makes it weaker and easier to break. There are products, too, that are designed to make your hair stronger, like types of shampoo and conditioner. I used to use the Garnier kind, in the green bottle, and it supposedly was clinically tested to improve hair strength, which I guess is good, but I dunno, I never trust those things completely. But I was able to grow my hair out very long when I was using it, it was past my chest.

You don't need it that long, though. Shoulder length should be good, and shouldn't take you more than... eh, a year or so. I believe the average is half an inch a month. Mine took about three years to get past my chest.

I finally went to a quality hair design studio, told them what I wanted to do and set up a program to do it. The quick answer? To keep it under control. have it lightly trimmed (less than an 1/8 inch) every five or six weeks, to keep it from hqaving split ends that can ravel deep into existing hair, and to keep it conditioned at all times.

Hair typically grows at 1/2" per month - not much else you can do about that.

I started to grow my hair since January 2009 (started fully shaved) now it's 3.2 inch all around without cutting. So that's the length I got in 6 months. That means in another half year time I get about 7 to 8 inch of hair, and over 1 year (1.5 year of hair grow then) I think I will have 11 to 13 inch based on the current rate.

And I do use vitamin B supplements and horsetail (natural supplement)

I heard about this horse shampoo once that is supposed to really fasten the growth of your hair. Is that true?

Honestly, I don't think it works. I think any shampoo will do it's more about massaging the scalp for better blood flow. I mean hairs grow due to cell division, and you can't really speed that up. You can make sure it got all the nutrients by supplying them, but to my knowledge you can't make your hair grow faster than it's encoded in your genes. Also a hair has a cycle of about 6 years, after 3 years it can go to sleep and it may look that your hair doesn't grow that fast. So, if you start growing hair in that sleep cycle it may seem to take forever.

I've been using all possible supplements, but at the current rate it seems that they don't do a thing when compared to 'normal' growth-rate. Alas we all look for magic bullets, the only ones who seem to profit are the manufacturers.

My hair is now 4 inches long all around, after almost 7 months of non-stop grow.

Jello or gelatin is supposed to help your hair and nails grow and be healthy...There's always room for jello :P

Joe

Last time I tried to put jello on my hair I got kicked out of the chinese buffet and was told to never come back again.

Lizzy gave you the ball park figure for the speed of hair growth - this is the average for most people, like everything else in life YMMV (Your Milage May Vary).

The actual number for hair growth is considered to be 1/72" per day so 60/72" is pretty cloes to one inch.

Mine seems to grow just a bit faster and so do my naols, when my health is good both are strong but when I get run down I can break a nail by looking at it.

Your general health is key to healthy hair and nails.

Love ya,

Sally

Hi there!

I've actually been using Megatek Rebuilder for about 6 weeks now and I think the main thing it has done is really thicken my hair quite a bit. There has probably been a little extra growth as well, but I'm not seeing any new growth from it. I also have a regimen of brushing my hair for 5 minutes every morning and evening with a boar's bristle brush and the night before I wash my hair, I massage in and leave in the Megatek. It smells like coconuts and it is really the best conditioner I have found regardless. My hair has never been this thick. I'm hoping when I start HRT it will aid any new growth - I've heard some wonderful testimonials to this effect.

Best!

I had asked this same question on Yahoo answers and go this:

I am from southeast asia and the people there have the most BEAUTIFUL silky dark hair that anybody has ever seen (Indian hair for example). The thing that they do ( and I do) is that you have to oil your hair almost every week (preferably with Mustard oil) and then wash. NEVER wash your hair before oiling and massaging it first. Trust me on this one! you won't regret it. Another thing is that I just discovered this incredible shampoo and I read the reviews online ... Its called Bio Amla Shampoo which doesn't have alot of chemicals and is made from almost all natural ingredients. This is what it looks like:

http://image.ec21.com/image/bioamla/oimg…

You'll find it at any indian/pakistani store. Its dang cheap!!

Another suggestion that I would like to give you is avoid anything that is heat related (hair dryers, Straighteners) I never EVER use them and it shows!

Good luck my friend! :)

Why can't they come up with a magical pill like everything else. I am tired of waiting for it to grow. My stylist put me on a every 6 week hair regimen. She cuts the dead ends off and evens out my hair so that it doesn't look bad.

Yeah....and cutting off the dead ends seems to pretty much be how much it grew in the last 6 weeks....right?...LOL

I am having the same issue, right now my hair length is almost touching my shoulders but my goal is to of course to have my hair past my shoulders and able to have a ponytail. I work out quite a lot and also take good care of my hair, at least I think I do? It is growing slowly for me now, or at least seems that way since I want to have longer hair so badly right now :(

OMG so true. I grew my hair out for a year once and it ended up forming giants ringlets that I don't think even touched my shoulders. Unlike mt pre-puberty hair that was straight and I could grow to my shoulders every few months before getting it cut short again.

Ah well, at least I got my dad's nice thick only very slightly greying at 50 hair instead of my mom's thinning turned bright white years ago hair.

It's annoying though, I get no "length" growing it out for a year, but it grows out of its short cuts very quickly. I need a hair cut right now actually...

I'm from the south an down here we have alot of ol'e sayings, so here's one that might help, ya ever heard the one "that when you really really want something, it seems to never happen"? Well my advice is, don't worry so much about it, cuz like someone said, there's no magic pills, wish there was. But all in all Do keep doing the right things like taking care of it etc...but when it comes down to it, just ignore it ;)

Germany has more castles than there are McDonald's in the United States. Yep, you heard that right. Germany is estimated to have 25,000 castles, and there are around 13,000 McDonald's locations in America.   In Washington state, there's a real-life law stating it's illegal to kill bigfoot and other sasquatch-like creatures.

DREAD f you’re anticipating something positive, you’re probably motivated to summon all your patience to wait for it—and sometimes for extended time periods. It may be counter-intuitive, yet in certain instances such waiting can itself be gratifying. Consider Carly Simon’s song “Anticipation,” the old Heinz ketchup ads, and—especially—recent research pointing in the opposite direction as regards awaiting something highly aversive. In this post I won’t be reviewing ketchup commercials, but I will be exploring some intriguing research on dread-infused anticipation.

So an update from me.   Had my endo appointment last night. Went very well and they are sending 3 months supply of estrogen (estradoil patches) and the anti-androgens whilst my Dr gets a shared care agreement sorted out. So happy, should start HRT tomorrow!! Cost for the 3 month supply is £70 total for me, so not too bad. Not told my parents about this yet, but them being in spain, not sure they need to know yet.   Can't wait to start, just got to think about where to put the patches now and wait for the changes...

Good Morning    well it’s Friday for most, pay day for some.  For me it’s pay day but not Friday.  I work the same opening shift tomorrow.  I typically have Friday on Saturday and Monday on Tuesday.     @KymmieL it does sound like your shop has an issue and you are smack in the thick of it.  The new gal or guy often is.  We have an issue with new people not getting fully trained before being turned loose on customers.  Some struggle through it and some quit because of it.  I try to get them working with customers as quickly as I can but I stay right with them observing, helping, even jumping in when things are getting backed up to keep the stress down.  Not everything comes up during training so when things do, even later after trying is done, I try to help and explain.  Our ASM feels that once she has you scanning barcodes and taking money she is done training.  Generally, refuses to train me on things that she does, and questions why I’m doing something that she normally handles when I’ve been told to do it as part of my advancement training.     She and the cashier involved both keep trying to toss the manager under the bus over a hours of work issue and shifts.  I tell her I realize her issues and I’ll work what ever she needs.  Because of that I tend to get a better more consistent schedule.   Well, time to say Happy Trails to you, until we meet again.   Hi ho Silver, away   Willow

That does get you the 'starting point' for cup size, but manufacturers, style, breast shape, etc... will effect the results.    Step one is of course finding the proper band fit, then figuring out the approximate cup size with the calculations. Of course you need to try on a few styles after that in different cup sizes close to your measured result until you get the perfect fit.    I have bras in a DD that fit just like my bras in DDD both from Torrid but different styles.    I have some DDD's that fit awesome and some that are a bit loose, but I measure a 46G. It's not wonder that 80% of women are wearing them wrong bra.

I firmly believe I drank entirely to much for about 25 years. Got drunk every day. This was my coping mechanism to keep hiding deep inside that I was a woman. I miss a lot of signs over the years. Now I drink mabye 1 or 2 beers a day don't even get a buzz anymore. totally accept myself and on regret is that I hide that part of my self which  truly makes me happy being violet 💜. I wasted a lot of time before  being self destructive and had no clue I was just hiding th real me

Is it a safe and friendly area for us to go.  The wife and I are looking for some where to go to allow me to be my true self.     thanks in advance

Hey, everyone. my life is going down the tubes. at least I think. So, today. A customer called about his car, I told him that the oil change was done. The parts to fix the check engine light are ordered. He can come and get it. For the weekend if he wants. Customer says I didn't want an oil change. it was check the engine light and check for an oil leak. Checking the work order says oil change. The boss wrote the vehicle up. checking with the customer on services wanted.   Being that I wrote down the appointment in the book. and clearly states oil leak. She is complaining because she can't read my small ish writing. It seems she read oil and assumed it as an oil change. It seems like she is blaming me.  She wound up going home because she was too upset. She is stressing about an eye problem she has, she has to get eye surgery it seems she has a tear in her eye.    I feel that I am short for this job. because of the BS they are blaming me on. Plus I am still upset about the trust issue. If either one of the bosses start their Shite tomorrow. I am walking out.
