Do employers look at passport photo?

So I'm able to change my gender. However, my photo of me looking like a guy still remains... And I'm most likely going to be hired for a company... What are the chances they would take a look at the picture of my passport and figure things out? Thanks...

When I was a hiring authority for my State agency before I retired, we did carefully check ALL ID given to us for employment purposes.  The fact that I worked for the State of California in a high security job classification just meant that IF a person was honest, even if the person was Transgender, I could hire them as long as the difference could be verified (in our case by fingerprints with CCIS <California Criminal Information Service>) being TG was not by itself a reason to reject a potential employee.  Lying about being TG disqualified you during the hiring process if there was conflicting ID problems.

Unless it is a government job or government contractor, and the job requires a security clearance, I can't imagine any employer asking to see your passport.  First of all, not everyone has a passport, and secondly, a drivers license is always the one piece of ID that employers want to see.  If the photo on that ID doesn't match your gender, then you probably will have to explain the situation.

Bottom line is, I wouldn't worry about it.  But you should get a new passport, because the TSA folks will notice that pic doesn't match (although again, if you're flying domestically, you only need a DL).

True, but on the other hand, maybe the passport is the only ID with gender marker changes?  Don't want to assume multiple IDs available.

As to the original question, it really depends on the person looking and the type of job.  Some will look closer than others but even in the less demanding case someone may or may not look closely.

The most routine ID requirements on a job are to satisfy the federal i9 requirements so you can always look at those requirements to see what your options are.

I'm curious how you managed this. My understanding of passports was that the photo matching the person was the most important part. Female presenting person=female picture. I submitted a new photo with my name change to get rid of that horrible bearded picture.

I recently renewed my passport. Oh Boy, or should I say Girl. My passport photo from 2003 to the one in 2017, are like night and day. I still present male, but my passport screams very soft feminized male/androgynous/female, but gender marker male, after 4 years hrt.

Its a trip, literally for me.The cat is crawling out of the bag literally. LOL.

So a quick story that happened. I went on a trip, and I went to the airport and gave this lady my passport. She just looked at the passport, stared at me, and looked back at the passport. She then said, you look different. I explained I was MtF. And she said, hold on I'll talk to my manager. 10 min later she came back crying and said that the manager approved it. I asked her why she was crying. She explained to me that she had a son(She doesn't use female pronouns) around 35 who was staying in the house and was too scared to go out, even to get a job. She said that I was lucky, that I passed, was sociable, and was cheerful, and that my parents should be happy for me.

That day my dad rethought everything. He learned that there are more TS people then he thinks. He also learned that everyone has hardships but they don't publically announce it. He thought he was the only one going through a lot. (Selfish) I know >.>"" LOL!

Wow, what a sad, yet touching story. Thank you for sharing.

I am about 5 weeks ahead of you ... best wishes to you! For me it has been subtle changes at most so far (if any) ... but I am also on the "beginner's" level of patch, lol ...    Easy

Oh, another comment.   I am a conservative evangelical with strong Republican leanings. So is my wife, my friends, my family. I disagree with a good amount of what the Republicans are doing, but there it is.  I understand the mindset, I think, a lot better than those who are outside it do.   When you insult Republicans you insult me, my friends, my family.   People like me can struggle with trans issues.   Please consider that in posting.

      Then you are in despair.

I found this as well. No playacting, they just appear: the finger waggle wave; bracing my elbow on my other arm that's folded across my chest, wrist in the air half-cocked; walking a bit more fiercely... All that. My wife thought I was mocking her at one point!

I find my lack of time to read the thing frustrating, and I will not really comment until I have read it.  This is a wholly inadequate response.   1.  I think there are some legitimate concern.   2. Thoroughly discussing this will consume many threads.   3. I disagree partially with @MaeBe but there is partial agreement.   4. The context includes what is happening in society that the authors are observing.  It is not an isolated document.   5. Trump, if elected, is as likely to spend his energies going after political opponents as he is to implementing something like this.    6. I reject critical theory, which is based on Marxism.  Marxism has never worked and never will.  Critical theory has problems which would need time to go into, which I do not have.   7. There are groups who have declared war on the nuclear family as problematically patriarchal, and a lot of other terms. They are easy to find on the internet.  This document is reacting to that (see #4 above).   8.  Much of this would have to be legislated, and this is a policy documented.  Implementation would  be most likely different, but that does not mean criticism is unwarranted.

Sort of bracing myself for flipping, because I am wearing f and of course I wear f and it is natural to wear f and what else would I wear?  The  novelty is long gone out on this.  I wore a bra most of yesterday but we had a Zoom call and I took the bra off because I was concerned about the straps showing.  I missed it.    My body is saying "I am female!  Treat me that way!"   In the past it has screamed about this activity that  I have done to it.

This is what I'm scared of.  And it's quite possible. Apparently Chicken Little was right.

Finally I  am back online   I had to use the help of the contact form (not proud  of that, I always feel embarrassed and shy about contacting people), but here I am   missed all of you

I'm not happy to admit this, but I usually scream or break things.   Breaking things became a bit of a no no, because It was always a cd or something I liked and it got very expensive to replace stuff

Probably amusement parks. I've never been to one sadly, but I think I could talk for an hour about them without any problem

The name "Mississippi" comes from the Anishinabe tribe of Native Americans; the word means "Father of Waters."
