Could have been worse; the Army, Marines and Air Force wanted to delay up to two years.

During WWII you had segregated units. I was the thought that blacks did not have what it takes compared to their white comrades. Well, they succeeded and excelled under great duress. It's the same mindset regarding transgender troops. The brass just don't want to do it.

Yes, that is exactly what infuriates me when I hear conservatives say this is "social experimentation" or "social engineering."  Those are the same phrases used when they attempted to keep African-Americans segregated.  Unfortunately, too many people have selective amnesia about such historical truths.
