I don't know if I'm trans or something else

So, I've been a serious tomboy my whole life. Like play with trucks, wrestle the dogs, make mud pies type tomboy. I use to only wear cloth from the boys section. As I got older, I started wear girl pants but I still only wear shirts and jackets from the mens section. A few times in the past, I've thought about what it would be like to be a guy. And its always seem nice and easy. But I've never been uncomfortable with my body, just extremely self conscious. I've never really cared if people called me sir or her/she, but I've always hated being called ma'm and a lady. I'm hoping this online community can help me find some answers. Every time I dream/daydream I've exclusively been a guy. This has been constantly on my mind amd its starting to frustrate me. I dont know what to do.

Howdy and welcome!  As Tracy said, you're welcome to peruse what's been written here in the past, as that can help you on your own path.  I should say specifically that no one else can tell you with certainty whether you're transgender - that's a determination only you can make.

One thing you may find helpful is our resource locator - with it, you can find therapists in your area who work with transgender folks.  Meeting with one could well help you sort out your feelings and help you determine who you are, one way or the other.

Hello Frenchfry and welcome.  It does seems as if you've reached an inflection point in life.  I will second Dev's suggestion of seeking out a therapist to speak with.  I found the experience to be enlightening.   Take a look around past postings as you may find knowledge that helps you as you make your way.

I will throw in one small consideration to this, and that is simply that if you are questioning your gender at all, you are not cis-gender but need to find your own niche over here in Trans* Land where we can go from scary to fabulous in two strokes of eyeliner or eyeliner remover!!  Being different is fine to us and will not get you a funny (yuck) look from any of us but if you mean it to be funny, we can laugh with you.

Welcome French Fry.

Trans* folks came in all kinds of degree, shape and sizes.  I have a friend who wears plaid shirts and a baseball cap and sits somewhere in the space between genders.  I think we all live with a bit of both within us.  When i went to a gender therapist it did help as i could relate past experiences with an impartial party.  Just being open and honest with another person helped me a great deal.

Glad you are here as well.  Reading and posting here helped me to know i wasn't alone and to get back to my own phobias about gender.

Hugs,

Charlize

Hi Frenchfry,

Welcome to TransPulse. I'm glad you've found us! I can only repeat what others have said that a therapist can help you to clear the fog of confusion. Reading and participating here can help loads as well. Enjoy your journey of discovery!

Lots of love,

Much Love and if you can find the January 2017 edition of National Geographic on GENDER there is a lot in there that may help you.

A friend bought it for me and even though I knew a lot, I found out even more and it explained pretty much all the terms.

My copy is now in circulation with a few friends as they were most interested.

My friend also gave me a book called Middlesex which you might find interesting and in the few pages I read I found it to be a good read.

Don't think Americans would go for the "compulsory" part. We kind of like not being told what to do ... Amazingly, there is great pushback on voter ID laws. The opponents say it discourages voting, especially among the poor and minorities. That is really a smokescreen IMO for those who want to harvest ballots from as many places as possible, including folks who don't exist or don't hold citizenship...

Pretty soon I think I might be ready to talk about gender-affirming care for kids, possibly w/r/t the Cass Review and its shortcomings.

She was a beautiful young woman ...   "What we do know is that the offender was a very violent individual and should not have been on our streets.”  Whether gender related or not, the mental health and incarceration issues in our country are incredibly bad and need to be addressed.

April,   I'm glad my entries are interesting to you.  TransCentralPA is a great organization with so many caring people.  I would strongly recommend you find a way to attend the Keystone Conference.  I guarantee you'll find it an amazing experience.     Hugs,   Sally

Dear @Sally Stone.  I think you should author a memoir based on these posts (maybe you're already working towards that?).  You could decide at a later time if/when you might want to publish.   I appreciate you sharing your deep connection with your friend Willa (and I am sorry for your loss) and the benefit of having a Trans friend and mentor in our Life and Journey.  I was fortunate to have found one also in our TGP friend @Kasumi63.   As you know we share many common Life themes in our stories.  Drop me a PM if you'd like to chat about it.  Looking forward to the next 'chapter'.

Voting is compulsory here, for better or worse. Would doing the same in the US snap people out of their apathy?

I am noting you use CRT terminology.  The comment is not out of the blue.  Some of your remarks on religion suggest atheism.  So it is believable that you are a Marxist, knowingly or not.  Are you?

Congrats to your family on the new addition!

Funny you think that I would be able to get through more than two sentences with how bad my stutter gets (joking, of course)   My topic would probably be mythology, random Japan factoids in my mind, or a favorite story   (Best option would be a fave story of mine including a lot of factoids on Japanese myths-)

Congratulations @ivy. Nothing beats a family growing two feet at a time!

I read each of your entries and learn so much. Thank you, especially, for the TransCentralPA info. I have been looking fora group and activities where I could express myself safely and with support. I missed this year's conference but next year might be possible and I am going to look at their other events, too.

I have read numerous accounts of trans folk no longer being welcome among evangelicals.   I am here for help and fellowship not to rebuke anyone.  I can take a pretty high degree of insult, etc., and you haven't insulted me, to my recollection anyway :) and I usually let it go.  But I thought I would let it all out there.   I am sure I disagree with you on numerous issues.  I appreciate other people's viewpoints, including those who radically disagree with me.  Intellectual challenge is good. One thing I appreciate about @MaeBe.
