Sometimes People Wonder

Guest

Recommended Posts

I find that sometimes other people look at me and I can planly see them wondering, does that man have boobs? Is it a male or one of those women becoming a male?  Or a male becoming a woman? I can see it, and you all know what I mean. That's how they think because they don't have the slightest idea about MtF, FtM, Non-Binaries or Androgyny. Thing is, I'm not required to fill in the blanks for them or explain myself either. I have been asked on occasion and I usually encourage them to take their best guess and then follow up with, "How about fellow human being, will that work for you?"

My wife and I were having a conversation with two young women out in front of our house the other day, they were obviously a lesbian couple. They were interested in a house close by that was for sale. I saw their eyes take darting glances at my chest, it's not flat like a man's and I was wearing a snug black T-shirt and women's jeans. I knew in an instant that they had read me with no trouble, a little later I asked them if they are married, they said yes. The next day they came and brought their two little boys and we exchanged phone numbers, we have some new friends that may become neighbors. We didn't question their sexual preferences and they didn't question my mixed gender proclivities, none of us do those things, we just instinctively know.

I thought this would be a good topic where we can share experiences and discuss ways we have learned to deal with the looks and sometimes unwanted comments of the CIS world around us.

Wonderful Marci!   And I love your retort, how about a fellow human...

I am a type A personality, so I have to sometimes bite my tongue and work at being pleasant with everyone. It doesn't serve our community well when we have a biting reply for something that was said out of ignorant curiosity.

I was always a type A also but with age and estrogen I've mellowed out quite a bit.  I can still be snarky when called upon!   You're correct that its important to understand where the comment is coming from.

I'm not there yet but I will definitely remember this for when I am.  Great advice!

Always best to politely put the onus on them to figure things out rather than being upset and go off on them with some snarky response. It's surprising how nice people can be when we don't come across all cringy, fearful and defensive. Many have had limited contact if any with trans folks of any stripe and you or I may be their first opportunity to form an opinion.

Just now, Marci said:

This ?.

I've met so many people that tell me I'm the only transperson they know personally. And these are typically pretty liberal, educated folks in California. It's easy to forget how unusual this is for a lot of people even if they're supportive.

It is not on us to educate others about being trans, but personal contact and connections can definitely win hearts and minds.

What a fantastic outlook !  I can definitely take much for myself in this regard, I worry about things so much that I forget it’s not my problem it’s their problem. I have definitely given up worrying about what my chest looks like, and I notice the occasional glance or stare, but honestly I don’t think many people understand what they’re seeing, so many men do have rather large moobs  these days that it’s easy to blend back in in the male side of the crowd, however I’m not doing a very convincing job of it lately and it’s time for me to let go of full on male mode and let the androgyny begin. You know it’s rather funny, I have always portrayed a typical Type A even though I know I’ve never been one, I don’t know that I was terribly convincing as my work level probably never matched my perceived a persona, but the estrogen knocked that right out into a different place as I couldn’t even try to act like a type A and have anyone take me seriously anymore. But honestly I have no trouble with that, it’s just easier to be me if I allow them to understand who I really am. You have such grace and confidence,  and I know if I could manage to just pull myself together and have a little of that myself the world would perceive me so much better even if they don’t quite understand what they’re looking at.

Hugs,

Jae

Jody, and Jae Bear, good comments from you both! Best part of non-binary, androgynous persona is that you can be the real you without much pretense, stress and surgeries and it just grows into who you are and have been all along.

Thanks for this thread...

I am non binary M2F, 5'11" 176lbs, with 38c breasts.

My femaleness should show more as I approach my goal of getting down into the mid 150 range.

Been on HRT for just over 6 months and I have recently noticed that the looks have started.

I love everything about being on HRT?

Could be my longer hair, lots of lost weight, changes to my face or all of those working to "out" me.

I am keeping my facial hair so that might be adding to the confusion...

Your thoughts will help me a lot if/when the actual questions start.

Thanks Again!

Hello AJ.  I see you're new here.  Welcome! As you are NB the feminine look with masculine attributes will be fine.  If you are asked, you can be honest (I'm NB and blending parts I love), snarky (lost my razor, or can't afford a haircut) or just say you're living as you desire, end of conversation!    I think precious few will ask anything to your face.

Germany has more castles than there are McDonald's in the United States. Yep, you heard that right. Germany is estimated to have 25,000 castles, and there are around 13,000 McDonald's locations in America.   In Washington state, there's a real-life law stating it's illegal to kill bigfoot and other sasquatch-like creatures.

DREAD f you’re anticipating something positive, you’re probably motivated to summon all your patience to wait for it—and sometimes for extended time periods. It may be counter-intuitive, yet in certain instances such waiting can itself be gratifying. Consider Carly Simon’s song “Anticipation,” the old Heinz ketchup ads, and—especially—recent research pointing in the opposite direction as regards awaiting something highly aversive. In this post I won’t be reviewing ketchup commercials, but I will be exploring some intriguing research on dread-infused anticipation.

So an update from me.   Had my endo appointment last night. Went very well and they are sending 3 months supply of estrogen (estradoil patches) and the anti-androgens whilst my Dr gets a shared care agreement sorted out. So happy, should start HRT tomorrow!! Cost for the 3 month supply is £70 total for me, so not too bad. Not told my parents about this yet, but them being in spain, not sure they need to know yet.   Can't wait to start, just got to think about where to put the patches now and wait for the changes...

Good Morning    well it’s Friday for most, pay day for some.  For me it’s pay day but not Friday.  I work the same opening shift tomorrow.  I typically have Friday on Saturday and Monday on Tuesday.     @KymmieL it does sound like your shop has an issue and you are smack in the thick of it.  The new gal or guy often is.  We have an issue with new people not getting fully trained before being turned loose on customers.  Some struggle through it and some quit because of it.  I try to get them working with customers as quickly as I can but I stay right with them observing, helping, even jumping in when things are getting backed up to keep the stress down.  Not everything comes up during training so when things do, even later after trying is done, I try to help and explain.  Our ASM feels that once she has you scanning barcodes and taking money she is done training.  Generally, refuses to train me on things that she does, and questions why I’m doing something that she normally handles when I’ve been told to do it as part of my advancement training.     She and the cashier involved both keep trying to toss the manager under the bus over a hours of work issue and shifts.  I tell her I realize her issues and I’ll work what ever she needs.  Because of that I tend to get a better more consistent schedule.   Well, time to say Happy Trails to you, until we meet again.   Hi ho Silver, away   Willow

That does get you the 'starting point' for cup size, but manufacturers, style, breast shape, etc... will effect the results.    Step one is of course finding the proper band fit, then figuring out the approximate cup size with the calculations. Of course you need to try on a few styles after that in different cup sizes close to your measured result until you get the perfect fit.    I have bras in a DD that fit just like my bras in DDD both from Torrid but different styles.    I have some DDD's that fit awesome and some that are a bit loose, but I measure a 46G. It's not wonder that 80% of women are wearing them wrong bra.

I firmly believe I drank entirely to much for about 25 years. Got drunk every day. This was my coping mechanism to keep hiding deep inside that I was a woman. I miss a lot of signs over the years. Now I drink mabye 1 or 2 beers a day don't even get a buzz anymore. totally accept myself and on regret is that I hide that part of my self which  truly makes me happy being violet 💜. I wasted a lot of time before  being self destructive and had no clue I was just hiding th real me

Well it not morning and I haven’t been on her for a while but it’s nice to be back.  Did some catching up on everyone.  I do have a question, how is Toronto Canada for a get away? Is it a safe and friendly area for us to go.  The wife and I are looking for some where to go to allow me to be my true self.     thanks in advance

Hey, everyone. my life is going down the tubes. at least I think. So, today. A customer called about his car, I told him that the oil change was done. The parts to fix the check engine light are ordered. He can come and get it. For the weekend if he wants. Customer says I didn't want an oil change. it was check the engine light and check for an oil leak. Checking the work order says oil change. The boss wrote the vehicle up. checking with the customer on services wanted.   Being that I wrote down the appointment in the book. and clearly states oil leak. She is complaining because she can't read my small ish writing. It seems she read oil and assumed it as an oil change. It seems like she is blaming me.  She wound up going home because she was too upset. She is stressing about an eye problem she has, she has to get eye surgery it seems she has a tear in her eye.    I feel that I am short for this job. because of the BS they are blaming me on. Plus I am still upset about the trust issue. If either one of the bosses start their Shite tomorrow. I am walking out.
