Progesterone

Hello All:

Wanted to see if anyone is currently on progesterone or has been on progesterone?  I am excited to be going on it with my estrogen and from going over all the side effects with my doctor and I know that it is a pretty powerful hormone and can make you feel yucky.  But I hope to see what it will do for me.

But on a side note, I know what yucky feels like after fighting cancer and going through chemo, so wondering if the yucky from progesterone will be just as bad as chemo or not even quiet for the side effects.  But I am glad and hope that the progesterone will be good to me.

Just now, MaryMary said:

I was taking that. It had the effect of improving my libido a little bit because I had none. But 1 year later the blood tests showed that my liver was not happy about progesterone in pills. I've stopped it and now my liver is back on track. There was no yucky for me apart from the blood test but I never felt the negative effect per say.

Thank You MaryMary for your sharing on progesterone.  I know that everyone is all different and so everyone experiences will be different.  From talking to my doctor and looking up research on some of the side effects, I see that it can give bloating, fatigue, sickness, Insomnia or tiredness.  Then I know it helps out the estrogen, as for breast, it wont make them bigger but make them fuller.  Helps with softening of the skin.   So I do know about all the differences on the side effects.  Then like how I said before, that I am a cancer survivor and went through chemo and know how all that did with me.

But like anything and especially since I am a cancer survivor, I have been watching my health close and making sure that being on hormones with my past wont make me sick like what I went through

I tried taking progesterone for the above mentioned benefits (mainly the fuller bosom) but really didn't notice that it helped. A few months later I was in the hospital (for nothing HRT-related) but they did an ultrasound on my legs and found a blood clot! ? The doctor treating me was convinced it was from taking progesterone and recommended I stop. (my HRT doctor had me wean myself off it over because of the side effects of quitting cold turkey). I also had to take a blood thinner for 3 months.

So, yeah, that happened.

Dr. McGin and my cardiologist would never even let me consider progesterone.  For me the results would most likely be fatal.

Thanks all of you who posted on this.  I was considering asking my HCP about adding Progesterone to my regimen because of the above mentioned benefits.  I also read that it can assist greatly with proper areola growth.  That alone really interested me but after reading this thread, I think I'll not ask about it on my next visit.

Hello All:

Thank you very much.  So it has been a little over a week for me on progesterone and right now no side effects.  I have noticed my breast being a little more tender now, but dont know if it's from the progesterone or the estrogen.  I called my Endo. and she liked the sound of it so far with no side effects and to keep an eye and watch and to follow up with a call in 2 to 3 weeks to make sure that it properly gets into my system and to make sure my body is adjusting well to it.

Be mindful that it can cause depression as well.   Along with the side effects listed above, this was an area of concern for me.  I decided not to pursue it.

All my best to you Amy,

Thank You Jani.

I did not know about depression from progesterone but I do know.  I am glad that I have a good Endo that is watching me and wants to make sure I am staying healthy and with the new medication that I am on now.  I love how she wants me to follow up with a phone call in a few weeks to make sure how I am doing and feeling to make sure that I am adapting good.  She is also concerned with my past medical history having cancer so keeping an eye there with my transition.

I have only ever had the estradiol and her needed a supplement or suppressor for the testosterone. I wish I could comment one way or another. ?

If you’re feeling depressed try to focus on all the good in your life and remember that you have value and there are people out there that care about you.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hello All:

So I wanted to share that I have noticed that the Progesterone is working.  I was at work in my normal comfortable work clothes, which is a nice Tee, jeans and comfortable shoes since I am on my feet.  I happen to look down and noticed the girls are really filling in.  They are not getting bigger, but they are getting fuller and I can feel them all the time and I just love how they are getting fuller.

I cannot believe that my breast are noticeable and can bee seen

Thanks for the update Amy. I just picked up my progesterone from the pharmacy this week, but I'm waiting until the first of Feb to start, so that it'll be easier to keep track of. I'm on a 15-days on, 15-days off regimen.  All of the purported side-effects are things that I'm already experiencing just with estrodial and spiro, so I'm nervous, but I trust my doc when she says it's worth the try.

Hi Marlin!  I've wondered how you're been.

Don't fret.  Keep notes about how you feel emotionally.   My doctor recommended against it for me for depression concerns.

Welcome back!

My progesterone regimin goes as follows:

Right at the beginning starting on April 6, 2018 I started with 1 week, one pill daily then off for six months, then another week 1 pill daily

...now it's just one pill a week till further notice.

The rest as follows:

E is 2 times daily

Spironolactone 1 daily

Fenasteride 1 daily

The girls are growing amazingly! The areola are getting larger and the nipples went from >1/4" to nearly 1/2"

That does get you the 'starting point' for cup size, but manufacturers, style, breast shape, etc... will effect the results.    Step one is of course finding the proper band fit, then figuring out the approximate cup size with the calculations. Of course you need to try on a few styles after that in different cup sizes close to your measured result until you get the perfect fit.    I have bras in a DD that fit just like my bras in DDD both from Torrid but different styles.    I have some DDD's that fit awesome and some that are a bit loose, but I measure a 46G. It's not wonder that 80% of women are wearing them wrong bra.

I firmly believe I drank entirely to much for about 25 years. Got drunk every day. This was my coping mechanism to keep hiding deep inside that I was a woman. I miss a lot of signs over the years. Now I drink mabye 1 or 2 beers a day don't even get a buzz anymore. totally accept myself and on regret is that I hide that part of my self which  truly makes me happy being violet 💜. I wasted a lot of time before  being self destructive and had no clue I was just hiding th real me

Well it not morning and I haven’t been on her for a while but it’s nice to be back.  Did some catching up on everyone.  I do have a question, how is Toronto Canada for a get away? Is it a safe and friendly area for us to go.  The wife and I are looking for some where to go to allow me to be my true self.     thanks in advance

Hey, everyone. my life is going down the tubes. at least I think. So, today. A customer called about his car, I told him that the oil change was done. The parts to fix the check engine light are ordered. He can come and get it. For the weekend if he wants. Customer says I didn't want an oil change. it was check the engine light and check for an oil leak. Checking the work order says oil change. The boss wrote the vehicle up. checking with the customer on services wanted.   Being that I wrote down the appointment in the book. and clearly states oil leak. She is complaining because she can't read my small ish writing. It seems she read oil and assumed it as an oil change. It seems like she is blaming me.  She wound up going home because she was too upset. She is stressing about an eye problem she has, she has to get eye surgery it seems she has a tear in her eye.    I feel that I am short for this job. because of the BS they are blaming me on. Plus I am still upset about the trust issue. If either one of the bosses start their Shite tomorrow. I am walking out.

"I love you so much,"  Lois said.  They met in the driveway. "I could not live without you." "Neither could I." "What are we going to do?" "Find another counselor?" "No. I think we need to solve this ourselves." "Do you think we can?" "I don't know.  But what I know is that I don't want to go through that again.  I think we have to hope we can find a solution." "Otherwise, despair." "Yeah.   Truce?" "Okay,  truce." And they hugged.   "When we know what we want we can figure out how to get there."   That began six years of angry battles, with Odie insisted he could dress as he pleased and Lois insisting it did not please her at all.  He told her she was not going to control him and she replied that she still had rights as a wife to a husband. Neither was willing to give in, neither was willing to quit, and their heated arguments ended in hugs and more.   They went to a Crossdressers' Club, where they hoped to meet other couples with the same problems, the same conflicts, and the same answers, if anyone had any.  It took them four tries before they settled on a group that they were both willing to participate in.  This was four couples their own age, each with a cross dressing husband and a wife who was dealing with it.  They met monthly.  It was led by a 'mediator' who wanted people to express how they felt about the situation.  Odie and Lois, as newcomers, got the floor, and the meeting was finally dismissed at 1:30 in the morning - it was supposed to be over at 10 - and everyone knew how they felt about the situation.   There was silence in the car on the way home.   "We aren't the only ones dealing with this." Odie finally said.   "Who would have thought that?  You are right."   "Somebody out there has a solution." "I hope you are right."   "I hope in hope, not in despair."   "That's my Odie."

The counseling session was heated, if you could call it a counseling session.  Sometimes Lois felt he was on Odie's side, and sometimes on hers.  When he was on her side, Odie got defensive. She found herself being defensive when it seemed they were ganging up on each other.   "This is not working," Lois said angrily, and walked out.  "Never again. I want my husband back. Dr. Smith you are complicit in this."   "What?" said Odie.   The counselor looked at him.  "You will have to learn some listening skills."   "That is it? Listening skills?  You just destroyed my marriage, and you told me I need to learn listening skills?"   Dr. Smith said calmly,"I think you both need to cool off."   Odie looked at him and walked out, saying "And you call yourself a counselor."   "Wait a minute."   "No."
