I have been living in the Memphis area for almost 10 yrs now and I can say with all honesty that I am not surprised that something like this has happened. In truth I am surprised that it doesn't happen more often considering the fact that Memphis is in the "bible belt". Of course you also have to keep in mind that Memphis is also getting close to being named the murder capital of the country at the same time.

 

I truly hope that they prosecute this guy to the fullest extent of the law, but more likely he will get a slap on the wrist and it will be forgotten. It's sad, but it's true. 

 

In the last 10 yrs I have come to realize that Memphis has no redeeming qualities left. It's history has been forgotten, it's original purpose has been lost to modern transportation, and even the one tourist draw, Graceland, is in a really bad part of town which only really makes money for the local economy during Elvis week when they celebrate his death.

 

I hope that she will be alright. My thoughts and prayers go to her and her family.
