Orchiectomy preparations

Recommended Posts

Ellora

Hi! As some of you already know, I will be having an Orchie on June 6th.

Recommended items for recovery period  are frozen peas/ ice packs, “jock strap” (blech, haven’t had one since I played football in 9th grade), “whitey tighties” ( double ugh, I’ve never ever liked those things.)

Does anyone recommend a particular type of Jock strap? Or are they all the same? Should I get men’s briefs, or compression shorts?

Any and all all suggestions are welcome, Thank you!!

All of them will do the same for you and you stand a small but real chance of some blood stains on them, so the cheaper ones are fine.  I would suggest that you add in a supply of women's sanitary pads to put inside the strap or pants against the skin as well.  The biggest use is to hold stuff up against your body comfortably for a day or six.  A friend of mine had hers done a year ago and I help transport her to and from the clinic and since she could walk and drive after the anesthetic had worn off, I did some "nursing by phone" for a couple of days.  Smart and Final has some "Ice cube packs" that are refreezeable ice cubes in plastic that worked well for her wrapped in a clean wash cloth. .They advertise they can be used for sports injuries which often involve the tween legs area.

No specific recs from me, Ellora, other than this:  don't stress out.  Follow the advice of the medical staff, but don't overthink it.  If yours goes like mine did, you'll be fine without a bunch of "stuff" to wear, ice, soak or squeeze.  But I wouldn't have the peas for dinner, if I was you.  😀

@VickySGV Thank you for the great advice!! Exactly what I wanted to know! Oh good, I don’t have to purchase $$$ those extra fancy jock straps 😂. I would rather spend that money on some new Thongs I am waiting to buy after the Orchie 😉  They mentioned to put some extra padding, and I was wondering “what a sock?” But the women’s pad is great!

Thank you!!! 💜

Hi! I’m probably going to wear everything just to be sure. It will give me comfort . Yes, I am mostly working my way through having to be put under, not that I would want to be awake, but anesthesia problems some people have had, it is a bit on my mind. I’ll be ok, it’s just something I will get through. This is something I’ve been waiting for, fooooooooooreeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrr. 😊

I just wore my regular panties. They gave me a pair to put on and then mine on top when we left. It’s to keep things from moving around. Laying down for me was the most comfortable for a couple of days.

Good luck.

Hi! Thank you !! How did it feel when you stood up after you were laying down for a bit? I will definitely be staying off my feet as much as I can, I do not want any unnecessary swelling to occur. 💜

When I stand up I move some, then sit up for a few seconds then stand up.

As far as the surgery it was not bad. I only took Tylenol I did not like what they prescribed. The pain wasn’t to bad move easy and be careful and things will go well.

Good luck.

@Rachael Thank you!  I am going to be extra careful. I want to heal as soon as possible so I can enjoy walking around, sitting, standing, and just being without those things. 😃 I hope it goes as well as yours did. Thank you for the tips!

I just feel like i am crazy... i keep doubting myself constently. I think i am trans, but everyone says no.  Maybe i am just confused and lost in a sea of raw emotions.  I keep feeling like i am trans, but i dont honestly know anymore. Maybe i am just confused myself, or just delusional.   Maybe i should just stop and expect me beginning so uncomfortable in my own skin.    Sorry for the vent. I just feel like it the only place i can express myself, i guess.   Thanks for reading. Sorry for the vent.

Thanks Vicky,  I know I have a long way to go, just started this a few weeks ago. I am just so damn happy that it came together as well as it did. Far from perfect, but that’s just me. It’s amazing the amount of relief and happiness I’m feeling right now. And the wife seems to approve so that helps. 😁😁😁

      Hi! and Welcome!

A word of hope and dread, I began my Transition 20 years ago as a CD, which lasted 12 years, and FULL TIME with all the the work 8 years ago, and I am still not finished.  Don't worry about it though, you are living your truth and that is the most important.  A happy, friendly attitude with people will more than offset any little defects we have, but that is the same for all our life.

For the first time I actually put everything together. From the gaff and false boobies 😁 to all the makeup. I’ve got to be honest I saw  my body profile and almost cried. Still need more practice with the makeup but it wasn’t to bad for my first attempt. Also need to grow my hair more or get a wig.

      Hello and welcome.

Gooseberries grow best up north.  In fact, a bush won't grow berries, if it there wasn't at least one hard freeze over the winter time.
    • Ellora
Ive never heard of Gooseberries, I must try them now.

Eeeek, Nettle in the nethers! No bueno!   One thing men and women have in common, is they both have need to squat then #2 is involved.

We have heat, and a wide variation. all within a 20min drive. =). In the winter, you can play at the beach, drive 20-30 mins inland and play in the snow =).

Eeeek! too hot! AC all the way!

Ace of Base did a cover of Bananarama's song "Cruel Summer." in 1998. The Original song from Bananarama came out in 1984, which dates me back to 18yrs old when it was in the "Karate Kid." Lots of nostalgia for me .

That sounds so perfect I bet you could make a lot of nice desserts with all the fresh fruit!

Except for the sun it sounds good over there. Here we live with a wide variation, but I like the heat better than most. I'm loving it here at the moment picking Loganberries directly off the bush as a snack between meals lol. The redcurrents are at their prime too! A short while ago it was Gooseberries and soon be time for doing the same with blackberries. I love to pick things direct rather than buying at the supermarket.   Tracy
