Hello all! It’s wonderful to meet everyone here. You all seem amazing and so so supportive. I’ve been looking for a while for a place to be welcomed, as people in school and just in regular life aren’t always accepting to me; a gender-questioning rather young individual.

(Excuse me in advance for possibly posting in the wrong forums or chats, surprisingly for my age I’m not good with technology.)

Just for some background information, I have a larger friend group where almost everyone there is either an ally or part of the lgbtq+ community. However there is not a single transgender/questioning person (that I am aware of except from me) in our friend group— and I haven’t quite come out yet, so I’m unsure what to do or say.

Even just coming out as pansexual (which I am. Surprise!) to my friend group, terrified me. And I still am uncomfortable and nervous to speak up and talk about how I am gender questioning. I really do hope that I can find a bit of comfort in having a place like this to talk to.

I’ve been uncomfortable with how I appear and dress, even people calling me she/her pronouns, for a while now. And even though I’m young I just want to express myself and be me! I’d love any advice you have,

Welcome to Trans Pulse, Tyler.  I'm glad you're here.  Even within this community, a lot of people aren't very familiar with folks who are questioning or gender fluid.  But there is space here for everyone.  Please have a look around the forums and post wherever you like.  I also encourage to download the Discord app so you can venture into our Chat Room if you like.  I look forward to hearing more about you, and from you.

HUGS

Hey Tyler, I know it’s a big step posting about yourself on a thread but I can tell you from personal experience that you could not have found a more affirming forum on the web.  The people here are great.  There’s no judgment here... only love and support. I would enjoy reading more about you and your journey.  We are all posting here for the exact same reason...so don’t be shy.  We’re all here for you!

Warmest Regards,

Susan R?

Salutations the Tyler!

It sounds like you're off to a good start: You have a collection of allies and you've figured out that the key to happiness is being yourself, whomever that might be. You realize that you're a little uncomfortable trying to squeeze into the mold society wants you to fit into and you're seeking help in doing something about it. Bravo!

Coming out, even to friends and people you trust, is always nerve wracking. No matter what the evidence, the goblin in the back of your head keeps screaming, "Ahh! Keep it quiet! They'll get the torches and pitchforks! Run! Hide!" It gets better with time and repetition though. The first one is the hardest. After that it gets easier. It gets easier slowly, but it gets easier.

I wouldn't worry about not having another trans person in your friend group. First of all, how do you know you don't? You haven't come out yet, maybe somebody else is questioning too. Secondly, we're not super common. Homosexual is about 1 in 10 odds. Trans is about 1 in 200. I actually grew up (well, since Junior High) with another trans friend, but I didn't know until my 30's when they finally started to come out. They identify as bigender, btw. I'm not being mean with pronouns. We don't do that here. Also, they've been a friend since 1982 so, yeah, rude.

You don't need to be in a rush to come out either. Do it at your own pace. It sounds like your friends are a good bunch, they'll be understanding when you're finally ready. In the meantime, explore and figure out who Tyler is on the inside. There's no rush. There's no timetable. You just do you.

I hope you like it here. The company is a little weird, but we're good people.

Hugs!

Greetings Tyler and welcome to the forum.  Please do join in the conversation.  I think you'll find others with similar thoughts as yours to speak with.  Its okay to question.  Thats what exploration is all about, discovery.

Hi Tyler,

Welcome to Transpulse. I'm glad you're here!

You've taken some good steps already. I'm glad to see you're not keeping hidden away in the closet. I've found the support here to be a miracle. We are a friendly bunch here.

It's perfectly fine to be questioning. Take your time to get to know yourself, and try not to stress too much over it. You're doing great!

Lots of love,

Timber Wolf ?

It was stupid of me, the cop was in front of me in a u-turn cut in a spot I know about. I was running a little late because of the slow truck, and the cop happened to be there today. It is like one of only three places for a speed trap on my commute. I usually don’t speed as I try to leave enough of a time buffer in the morning.

The worst possible scenario is 4 points on my license, which a defensive driving course will negate it. I had considered getting a lawyer, but it is probably not worth the expense.

Yeah, I was puzzling on that too…

Good luck maam 😊 I’ve experienced that they’ll lower the points , if you show up in court and pay the ticket.

Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums Mealaini,   Like you I knew in my preteen years that I was meant to be a girl, but didn't have any way to bring it up in the early 1960s. It was the expanding news outlets on the telly that allowed me to understand that I may not be the only person who felt this way. Wow was my mind expanded once the internet became a reasonable research tool in the 1990s.   My grown daughter (42) is nonbinary and atheist with pagan leanings. So when I came out to her she was thrilled and wanted to dress me up and show me the world. Well I think she wanted to show me to the world. My son (45) is evangelical christian and very upset with his sister for many reasons. However he's a reluctant supporter of me as transgender. I'm out to my wife and we've been married for 48 years this June, so I'm in a very late in life transition.   The other thing that has me going down an internet rabbit hole is your location. It clearly states United Kingdom with a sub flag of Illinois. I've searched the web and can't seem to locate Illinois, UK. Am I missing something?    Best wishes,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Thank you for sharing, @Mealaini, and welcome.    I appreciate your description of IFS and your book recommendation. I have a few close friends who are very enthusiastic about IFS and my therapist is incorporating some of those elements into my therapy.    -Timi

Leg hair.  Shaving it was a surprisingly big decision.  (Not as big as the beard tho)  After I did it a few times, it's never really grown back.  Haven't shaved them in a couple of years and you'd never know it.  A daughter living with me doesn't shave hers, and she is much furrier than I ever was.     I don't exactly hate my living as a guy in the past.  TBH, I was never quite there anyway.  But I just dropped it.  I live full time fem, and it would bother me a lot to go back to being a guy.  But I don't have to appease family or an employer.

@Loreleiit always sucks getting a ticket for passing a slower vehicle. I'm guessing the police officer was some distance behind you until you performed your passing maneuver. My most costly ticket was from a similar situation, however we were heading out of town and the last straight stretch of road to pass the two slower vehicles ahead of me was still in a 35mph zone. I didn't see the officer behind me and as soon as I pulled out to pass he turned on his lights and siren. Since I was in the process of passing, I figured the next safe place to pull over was at the upcoming roadside park. He didn't accept that and wrote me up for passing two gaps, speed in excess of 15mph over, and failure to stop. He did not care to hear about any fellowship in public safety, and no professional curiosities would be honored.  I did go to court plead my case and the judge, and he did see my point of continuing to pass with the intentions of pulling over safely at the roadside park. He was very familiar with the location. This allowed him to drop the failure to stop charges, but I did have to pay the full 15mph over speeding ticket. So my lesson learned was to never pass when entering or leaving a small town or village.   Hugs, and good luck in court.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
