What you refer to you're body as.

I recently went to a therapy session and my therapist and I were talking about my body.  I told her that not only do I not look down at my genitalia but I do not refer to "IT" as a penis. I told her that I refer to it as my external urethra. She said that one of the questions she usually asks her patients at some point is what they call their Penises or Vaginas for our Trans Male friends. I hate it, and even hate the name we as a species gave it. So I do not posses a Penis but a external urethra and external bio illogical genetic organs (AKA as Testicles)

I really don’t focus on “it” or even refer to “it” much but if I talk to my wife in a general sense, I use genitals or crotch.  I never use the word penis (I don’t like the word either) and it’s too early in the game for me to refer to anything there as vagina.

Its just my "stuff".

ok "penis" actually sounds strange

Shenis is good.

Unsure if I honestly hate mine.  I don't want to hate or despise something that I was given that might even be used in a GCS reboot.

Just somehow not really wired for the role as originally assembled.

I have very confused feelings. The word tends to make me cringe, and I don't use it or any other similar term. It's not something which comes up in conversation so seldom an issue.

Yep I’ve used external urethra too.  It’s all I use it for now is to pee.   Lol

Im hoping to not worry about the other two troublemakers for much longer.

I have been watching Stef Sanjati on YouTube a lot lately and she refers to herself as a chick with a d**k. And until she had THE surgery, that's how she saw herself. And I cannot deny that the way she put it made sense to me. Before that I just despised it and hated even using it. Now I always sit like a lady to pee and live as a lady *internally* until I can show/pass as one *externally*

I don't talk about it a lot, so there is no need for me to have a special name for it.  If I have to refer to it, I call it a penis, because that's the word for it.  I'll be happy when I no longer have to see it in the mirror when I step out of the shower.

I refer to my body as female (thankfully).

Shenis is certainly worth a giggle.  I'm stuck with that bit and i must admit it helps one stay tidy and dry when working on a farm.  Fortunately it no longer yells at me.  I'm able to ignore it's presence and while i might choose further surgery that is not an option for me due to a heart issue.

I'll just apply shenis now.  Being hermaphroditic is ok with me.

Hugs,

I'm glad I got a giggle out of some of ya. It (the term) is both meant to make light of the situation (which has been another name for it, lol), and also me sincerely just owning it. Like many of you stated, I also don't really spend much time looking at or thinking about it.

I've decided I don't want gcs. I have too much hair down there, and some slight urinary issues that I worry would be compounded by a major change in my physiology. I'm not really that dysphoric about that bit. It's the other bits that bother me. I'm eager to get an orchidectomy. Is that a strange disconnect? Wanting the orchie but not the full gcs?

@ToniTone I don't believe that's strange at all. But just to point out from my own research, and please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but one part of gcs is hair removal from the area to prevent infection and other health hazards later on. Though I don't know about your other concern, a doctor would be the one to ask about that.

By no means am I saying you should go full gcs. That is very special for each individual and if they choose to follow the full process or not follow any at all, it makes them no less woman for us, or man for others. It is entirely up to you and your comfort level.

Maybe it's because of the 5 minutes I spent as a pre-med student in college (not literally 5 minutes but you get my point), but I'm fortunate to have a sort of clinical detachment on this topic. I look forward to the day I don't have to deal with the penis and testicles, they've always felt like foreign attachments, something that was grafted on to me against my will, but the words don't bother me at all. I can certainly understand why some would have an issue, though.

I just call my penis for what it is.  I wish it wasn't, it is a penis, and I have no issues with calling it that.  However, I learned that the "seam" that runs down the scrotum is where proto-labia fused together in the womb - since then, I've taken to referring to that part on my anatomy as "labicles."  It gives me some comfort to know that my corret anatomy is there, just a bit mis-configured.

@ToniTone, it's not strange to me.  I have a history of UTIs that make the idea of a shorter urethra somewhat scary to me.  I don't think I want GCS (or any major surgery) at my age.  I just don't heal like I used to.  We all have to find our own comfort zone.

When I have to, I use the word "genitals", but it is very rare that I need to refer to them. When I do, it is with doctors and therapists.

If I have to be professional (doctor's office, etc), I'll just say genitals. Otherwise, I use dick, since I also use a packer the majority of the time anyway. I've never liked the word V____, even before I knew I was trans I never liked the word.

I try to avoid all of that, I have been very uncomfortable with the idea of having a "womb" (even typing it makes me cringe) for my entire life. Instead, I say "d*ck to be" or, for my ovaries (again with the cringe), they are "inefficient producers of testosterone". That is why I need T, because just like how people with diabetes need insulin shots, I need to make up for the hormone that I am not producing right.

I like that one. Thank you for saying it! I'm adding it to my list.

In my former tenure as a male, I heard and have used the term "Johnson." I think it is a male thing that goes back years to the rumors from news reporters who off the record were talking about President Lyndon Johnson's "Johnson".  Allegedly it was rumored to be large and long.

It was stupid of me, the cop was in front of me in a u-turn cut in a spot I know about. I was running a little late because of the slow truck, and the cop happened to be there today. It is like one of only three places for a speed trap on my commute. I usually don’t speed as I try to leave enough of a time buffer in the morning.

The worst possible scenario is 4 points on my license, which a defensive driving course will negate it. I had considered getting a lawyer, but it is probably not worth the expense.

Yeah, I was puzzling on that too…

Good luck maam 😊 I’ve experienced that they’ll lower the points , if you show up in court and pay the ticket.

Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums Mealaini,   Like you I knew in my preteen years that I was meant to be a girl, but didn't have any way to bring it up in the early 1960s. It was the expanding news outlets on the telly that allowed me to understand that I may not be the only person who felt this way. Wow was my mind expanded once the internet became a reasonable research tool in the 1990s.   My grown daughter (42) is nonbinary and atheist with pagan leanings. So when I came out to her she was thrilled and wanted to dress me up and show me the world. Well I think she wanted to show me to the world. My son (45) is evangelical christian and very upset with his sister for many reasons. However he's a reluctant supporter of me as transgender. I'm out to my wife and we've been married for 48 years this June, so I'm in a very late in life transition.   The other thing that has me going down an internet rabbit hole is your location. It clearly states United Kingdom with a sub flag of Illinois. I've searched the web and can't seem to locate Illinois, UK. Am I missing something?    Best wishes,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Thank you for sharing, @Mealaini, and welcome.    I appreciate your description of IFS and your book recommendation. I have a few close friends who are very enthusiastic about IFS and my therapist is incorporating some of those elements into my therapy.    -Timi

Leg hair.  Shaving it was a surprisingly big decision.  (Not as big as the beard tho)  After I did it a few times, it's never really grown back.  Haven't shaved them in a couple of years and you'd never know it.  A daughter living with me doesn't shave hers, and she is much furrier than I ever was.     I don't exactly hate my living as a guy in the past.  TBH, I was never quite there anyway.  But I just dropped it.  I live full time fem, and it would bother me a lot to go back to being a guy.  But I don't have to appease family or an employer.

@Loreleiit always sucks getting a ticket for passing a slower vehicle. I'm guessing the police officer was some distance behind you until you performed your passing maneuver. My most costly ticket was from a similar situation, however we were heading out of town and the last straight stretch of road to pass the two slower vehicles ahead of me was still in a 35mph zone. I didn't see the officer behind me and as soon as I pulled out to pass he turned on his lights and siren. Since I was in the process of passing, I figured the next safe place to pull over was at the upcoming roadside park. He didn't accept that and wrote me up for passing two gaps, speed in excess of 15mph over, and failure to stop. He did not care to hear about any fellowship in public safety, and no professional curiosities would be honored.  I did go to court plead my case and the judge, and he did see my point of continuing to pass with the intentions of pulling over safely at the roadside park. He was very familiar with the location. This allowed him to drop the failure to stop charges, but I did have to pay the full 15mph over speeding ticket. So my lesson learned was to never pass when entering or leaving a small town or village.   Hugs, and good luck in court.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
