Trimming your own wig? Got the frizzies.

Yes I need to trim my wig at the very end in the back and a bit on the sides.  The synthetic wig I have is an inexpensive one from Amazon and although I did not pay more then $18 I really like it and was very surprised at how it looks and feels.  No I can not order another as they seem to be out of stock naturally.

That being said I have been wearing it a lot and I have gone through a couple washings now.  Over all it looks great but I have this frizz forming at the very ends which tangle in like 2.2 seconds and its hard to get any brush threw it.

I have decide to trim it this weekend just a tad.  Maybe an inch at the most.  It seems to be an underneath layer attached at the very bottom of the cap that has gotten crinkled and frizzy and will not straighten out.

Is there a way to straighten this before I hack away at it?

I know heated irons and high heat blow dryers are a no no for synthetics.

Unless you know how to cut hair, DON"T!  Take a deep breath and go into a salon and ask them to do it on your head.  They can spot the truly offending fibers and can do some mini layering so they do not tangle and frizz on you.  They can decide on what length to do it at and you may lose less than you would thing out. It is an art.  Don't tell them how much you paid, but you still won't fool them, and when they are done you will have a bit more expensive wig to brag about.

Vicky's right and there's extra complications because it's synthetic. If I needed to do something like that, I'd take it to the wig salon where I bought it and take advantage of their expertise on how the fibers work and how they're colored. One of the wig commandments is, "Thou shalt not try to color or style a synthetic wig." Definitely something for the experts. At least until you have your new hair and can afford to screw it up.

Hugs!

Yea not sure when that is going to be with this Corvid crap everywhere.  Not a lot of businesses are open.  Especially salons and services like this.

I agree it would be the best route but you do whatcha gotta do.

So I may just buy another cheap one to get me threw and keep this one of a spare  Have it trimmed when things settle down.

...and now you have me worried that I have enough conditioner on hand.

Sure, I have a supply, but do I have enough to last three months?

Hugs!

Nope he has passed.
Though the guy actually thought I handed him my fathers license instead of mine.  He could not tell it was me.
Was a very sweet and kind coming out experience.

I have been wearing wigs for 20 years since I first transitioned. I do invest in quality wigs because I wear them everyday. I usually spend between $150 - $200 each depending on sales. You get what you pay for with wigs. Mine last 6-9 months before I retire them.

Isn't it illegal to be examining people's genitals without their consent?    Could've sworn that was some sort of law already.

Oddly i often feel i pass but then bump into someone who reads my past attempts at maleness.    Last week at the market a man spoke me as i went back to my car.  I heard "You are beautiful"!  Odd!!!!!  Then he said something about marriage and i started to get worried.  Turned out he is married to a trans woman.  He was sweet and probably is tuned to trans folks but it was a bit disquieting.     Hugs,   Charlize

I decided to power wash our back porch and the porch furniture so the uniform of the day is a skort, t-shirt over a sports bra and flip flops with my hair pulled back into a ponytail.

It's been touched on in another thread, the perception that the folks who scream loudest in favor of free speech are also the loudest in wanting to stifle the freedom of people not like themselves.

I wonder if the LGBTQI+ umbrella should be split? Create separate entities for LGB and TQI+ folk?    I have no doubt that some cis het people probably think that sexuality and gender identity are the same thing, for whatever the reason, not necessarily willful ignorance. It would be natural for such people to observe that both LGB and T folk are under the same umbrella, so they must be the same, right?   Just as (and I know I'm making some pretty big assumptions in this post) some cis gay folk would think that the LBGTQI+ umbrella is pie - give trans people a slice, and somehow, they will miss out. Just like cis het folk might also think that their lives are somehow being diminished by allowing trans people to have basic human rights.

Suppressing your emotions because you’re afraid of them can be bad for your physical and mental health. Here’s what to do instead. When a toddler feels a “big” emotion, like anger or sadness, they tend to have a big tantrum on the floor. And these tantrums can be a lot to observe, full of thrashing, screaming, and tears. But a child reacts like this because the emotion they’re feeling is uncomfortable, maybe even painful.   Of course, as adults, we feel emotions too, and those feelings can be just as overwhelming, uncomfortable, or even painful as they were when we were children, even if we don’t let ourselves react in such a big way. But, sometimes, in our attempts to not give in to our emotions, we go too far: we run from them or suppress them — even if that harms us in the long run. Although there are many reasons we might suppress our emotions, one of them is that we are afraid of our emotions. Fear of emotions is called “animotophobia. It is not an official term in the DSM-5-TR. Still, fearing your emotions can have a significant impact on your well-being.
