Odd dietary urges on estrogen?

Emily Michele

Recommended Posts

I started taking my prescribed estrogen a while ago and about a week after I started I became hungry most of the time and have a craving for sour and spicy food.  Tabasco isn't hot enough these days, and I woke up at 3am to have a snack of green Greek olives with sriracha pepper sauce on them.  I've always liked spicy foods, but this was turning up the dial... BAM!  Anyone have any interesting cravings?

Not me. If anything, my appetite's lower. That could be the result of taking better care of myself though.

I do occasionally get hot and bothered about ice cream though.

Hugs!

Chocolate, before starting HRT I could take it or leave it, but a couple months after starting my endo upped my dosage and suddenly I just wanted chocolate any type, milk, orange, dark or chocolate ice cream doesn't matter ,now I keep it all over the house and as long as it ends up on my tush,? and hips? I don't worry about it.

My cravings are salt, olives, salt, dill pickles, salt, potato chips, Oh, did I mention salt? (I know these are not the most healthy choices, lol)

My wife jokingly tells me that I am not a real woman because I don't have food cravings.  Well, there's chocolate, but that's a food group, so it doesn't count.

Well GOOD chocolate. I don't really care for Hershey's and it actually tastes WORSE on E. Caramel though...

Susan gets these salted caramels from... somewhere. I found out the other week that she'd been hiding them from me, That was probably smart. I can't stay out of the things. So good...

OK, maybe ONE craving. Now and then. Mmm. Caramel... <drool>

Hugs!

I liked salty foods before, but HRT has taken that like to outright cravings.  I think due to the diuretic effects of Spiro and having to drink a lot more liquids, my body is telling me to get more sodium.  Noone better come between me and the jar of pickles or olives when the craving hits, that's all I'm saying.

I love spicy food, I can practically drink sriracha. My favorite fire sauce however is El Yucateco, green or red both are very spicy and delicious.  The black version is like a good spicy smoky barbecue sauce.

I love sour foods, lemon on everything. Practically can eat them.

But the one thing I crave, that can get dangerous, is deep fried breaded fish and deep fried soft shell baby crabs, clams and/or anchovies. They are just so yummy. And you eat it with spicy mayo sauce, I just mix mayo with my favorite fire sauce. Sriracha mayo is a old classic for me, I don't even look at ketchup, it's too sweet. Once I stop drinking soft drinks and whole milk, and switch to only half & half, juice and water, haven't even wanted ice-cream. Though cookies are my weakness, especially really go molasses chocolate chip or ginger cookies.

If you told me I had to give up HRT or chocolate?  I'm afraid chocolate might win ?

BrandiBri me too, dill pickles.since going on HRT I have been eating 14 jars of pickles a month. And salty foods. Can’t get enough. But it is better than eating pounds of chocolate.

Odd dietary urges on estrogen? Not so much Estrogen but when I started Progesterone a year or so ago, it changed my cravings a bit. I find I have to fight my cravings of anything with vinegar and garlic. I used to be a very strict ‘blue cheese on my salad‘ girl but this last year I can’t get enough Caesar salad dressing on my salads now.

I’ve only been on hrt a month but I have no cravings at all. I haven’t really noticed anything besides tingling in my breasts every so often other than nothing has changed. I have been trying to broaden my food horizon from just being a meat and potato girl.
