I love the fact that they are having her examined by a Gynecologist, and endocrinologist and a psychologist but don't want to 'humiliate her' by removing the medal if they are wrong - isn't that a lot less humiliating than this International news story and the examinations?

How very sensitive of them.

Love ya,

Sally

What the h is the point of subjecting her to these things if they are not going to remove the medal UNLESS its humiliation?

I just tend to be "highly logical" <_< , If you're going to let her keep the medal, and don't want her humiliated I'm sorry but you need to give me the reason then for the examination. "Because you're here" doesn't cut it. Not removing the medal eliminates a valid reason . And unless there was some course of action that the examinations were to serve to justify or render unnecessary I'd tell em ....well y'all know what I'd tell em lol.

As a South African, I am shocked that the athlete was allowed to compete while there was doubt around her gender...

She or He needs to understand that sport hates cheats and i believe it was not in good taste for her to compete until it was found what her status is..

I've seen way manlier bio females before. By the way, a few of the woman in my family shave - my MOTHER shaved. So hair on her face means nothing.

Below are links to two stories that appeared in today's L.A. Times.

The one on genetic and hormonal anomalies I felt was very well done and informative. It should help

people understand that in the world of gender issues, all is not so clear cut.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/wo...0,5294672.story

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/na...0,3926576.story

Let me know if the links don't work. I'll post the text.

Apparently no one cared about her sex until she won. Isn't that heartening?

I agree with SkeleTonya, if they are going to go to that extreme in checking her sex, they better be checking every other athlete that competed at that competition and every competition after it. If I ran the South African Sporting Commission (whatever it is called) I would immediately challenge the sex of every competing athlete and require the same tests be done on all of them.

Oh I see the future (this is not intended as a slight to the Special Olympics - a wonderful institution).

The XXMC Olympics (XX, Male characteristics) and the XYFC Olympicas (XY, female Characteristics) and the XXY Olympicsa and the XYY Olympicsa and the MC olympics (Mosaic Characteristic).

........................

HEADLINES: Criata Barr, winner of the 1000 meters in the XXMC Olympics , will lose zer medal because while XXMC Olympics allow male characteristics, Criata is actually Mosaic Characteristics rather than chomosomially pure - a distict advantage in muscle development and earring usage, according to the Society for Genetic and Arian Purity (SFGAAP). Zee was shown to be a HERSHE.

However, an American candy company which wishes to remain anonamous has offered the Hershe Barr a contract to be a company spokesperson.

Insane!

I would normally agree with you however,

The South African team KNEW that this was a problem and entered her anyway. They should have withheld her from competition while privately resolving the issue. So if you want to blame somebody blame them.

Can't they just ultrasound her ovaries and be done with it. I mean really, how many tests do they need, and what is a psychologist got to do with her genetic gender. What are they going to try to disqualify her because she thinks like a man or what. This just sounds like some promitional stunt.

I have read about this and was very disgusted by the whole thing. I am sick of people having to have everyone fit into some neat little box. There doesn't seem to be any room for variety...at least not too much! I will never understand this mentality. I wish that poor woman well. If I were her I'd tell them where they could put that medal!!! And I would want to be quoted for the press!!!!!!!!! - S.

The fault isn't really hers it is the fault of the governing body and how they see or don't see gender. I am preop but if asked what my gender is I am female, as to what my sex is i am male. If they want to do gender based checking, not only is it draconian and in this case discriminatory since they are not using the same methods on every one. If I were her, I would be getting a lawyer and getting a lawsuit prepped.

That sounds pretty accurate. I'm just glad I don't use Windows anymore, as I basically consider Windows itself a virus/malware. Backups can absolutely save you from some types of malware like ransomware. However it's ideal to just not get infected by having smart browsing habits. It's been said, and very accurately so, that the best antivirus is you - even the best antivirus isn't 100% accurate in detecting bad stuff, if you go out looking for that stuff or browse carelessly.   I guess if you don't care and/or don't have sensitive data on your PC, then that's fine I suppose. I personally care a lot - personal accounts, private messages, and even my very presence on this site aren't necessarily things I want to be public knowledge. 🤓🫠

Yes he is. Sorry it has taken so long. One sick kid and the other has needed my attention more than usually.
    • MaeBe
Sure is! Is he good with the kiddos?

Once again the Biden admin ignores Congress and issues a regulation that can be quickly changed. It would be much wiser if they worked a bill through Congress that became law.

I think that is the camera on the floor. Of course the kids aren't picking up after themselves oh well. He sure is big for only being 6 months old.

@Birdie @Adrianna Danielle    @Willow    Big news today. We're moving to WA. My wife is taking a job and I am most likely losing mine, so it's adventure time. I'm supposed to be a risk-seeker (Aries, ENTP, etc.) but this is hitting every klaxon and alarm in my brain, but it's going to make my wife and kids happy and it will be a place to make new friends as me without the 45 years of binary baggage. There are tech jobs all over Seattle, which we'll be near, and it's a decent State for trans rights (I don't know how it compares to MN, which is a refuge state). So wish us luck! This could be the best thing ever or rocky as hell, who knows!
    • Ashley0616
I know the feeling. I had to replace the dishwasher, fridge, stove. The only other issues that could pop up is the washer and dryer and the microwave oh I forgot the toaster.

That's the hard part of online relationships, they really never get to see the whole you. You either have to create a persona that will carry the day until they get to see you for who you are, or be open and take the risk because it's really easy for them to disconnect because there is little to no bond.   You have to share pictures of your puppy! I am not a dog person, but I can appreciate them in jpg format! My kiddos would love to have a pet, but we're all allergic in some shape or form and my wife and I are like, "no." :D
    • Ashley0616
I'm sorry Birdie! I wished you could move to a non-stressful place.

I love shopping for cars with my imaginary budget lol. A mustang is always fun to drive! Every time I felt down or depressed I drove it and it made me happy!

      It absolutely does!

Well things have actually been really good lately. I got a dog last Friday. I forgot how expensive they are but they are worth it. Now if I can just get him potty trained that would be awesome! He only has one particular spot inside that he likes so I try to watch him carefully. He is part German Shepheard and part Lab. He is very low maintenance. The sad part is that he didn't know what to do with a treat nor did he knew how to play fetch instead my youngest was playing fetch. He is kind of getting used to toys somewhat. I'm no longer expecting a relationship because I tell them what is wrong with me because I don't want them to be surprised about anything and they always ghost me. Oh well.
