Im not sure if zoladex is used in the U S A , however its used in Ireland as in the U K. I hope to begin mine around Dec. or Jan. next .

The trans women I know who are on zoladex have told me they did not notice a lot of difference till about 6 weeks, 2 weeks into your 2nd.

injection if you are monthly ( dont go on 3 monthly ) , anyway, at week 6 you may experience a physical high as your testosterone levels surge

for a couple of days, then I believe its like falling off a cliff as your testosterone levels ( production) go to zero. You will feel absolutely knackered

as your body becomes free of androgens , after 3 injections you will be given your eostrogen which will work quickly , thats what Ive seen in my

friends here in Dublin, If ya need any more info , let me know . regards Viv.

here is a link http://www.drugs.com/pro/zoladex.html for more information. It is a Gnrh antagonist which seems to work to supress both Estrogen and Testosterone (this might make it somewhat suspect in cases like ours) however im not a doctor and not qualified to make the choice.

Zoladex is used mainly for prostrate cancer treatment but is given to MtF and FtM that are pre puberty to supress puberty till it is determined if they need to transition or not, at 18 years of age they can start estrogen unless the parents sign off on it sooner.

Zoladex is quite costly, insurance normally will not pay if it is gender related, it is usually not used in adult MtF patients because of the cost, Spironolactone is used in the United States and Androcur (Cyproterone Acetate) is used just about everywhere else in the world.

At the start of Zoladex treatment there will probably be a rise in Testosterone levels for the first month before they fall, other medications can be given to combat this rise.

Hi Donna,

You know the anti androgen your medical doctors use in America? There are as far as I know 2 brand names you folk use, and would ya believe it I cant think of one.

Anyway , the one we use in Ireland and the UK is called Zoladex. Its primary function is re cancer patients (its never mentioned officially in print re us folk) Zoladex shrinks

particular cancers / those which need androgen to grow - it does this by chemically stopping the body producing same androgens. Zoladex is administered by injection into

the subcutanious fat layer just below the "belly button" , its like a mini capsule which slowly releases its contents over a month , so you got to be reinjected every month till

your testicles are removed /as you know thats where the majority of testosterone is made. The docs say that after a month or so the trans woman is chemically castrated.

After about three months the trans woman is considered "testosterone free" and eostrogen replacement begins, I rekon the rest of the treatment for us is same both sides

Jeepers , ya got me worried there for a moment re Zoladex, then it hit me , it works by stopping the body making its hormones "at source"

it does not nullify the effects hormones have on the body ....so, you "take" your hrt and your cool. Relieved, palpatations stopped, Im ok now.
