Just curious. Have any of you who have been diagnosed as IS, have both genitals ever have a period. I realize that it would probably be extremely rare, but possible.

Well, I am an intersexed individual. It truly seems strange that this is an intersex forum and there doesn't seem to be anyone on here that really speaks on the subject. So, I guess that I will.

I was born back when the drs didn't know crap about the intersex condition; unless it was so blatent it couldn't be ignored. As far as my parents knew I had no type of surgery, but then again the drs back then weren't always truthful with the families.

My great aunt alerted me to my condition when I was very young. She loved to go to the circus way back when they traveled by farm wagons, no cars. Of course that had sideshows and had people that were intersexed and you could see them for a dime or a quarter if they were big name freaks.

So, here I am with an Adams apple and the personality of a boy. I was raised female and looked like a Sweetie in drag - no offense meant nor intended. I always did boy stuff, hunting, fishing, working in the fields and I was the best so-called female athlete that our school had ever had. I trained with the boys whevevr I could. The real girls disliked me and said I was chasing their little boy friends; yeah right.

I came out as gay after I graduated, later as a ftm and finally after some medical discovery I am an intersexual and even have a prostate gland, a small penis and another part that I don't nor have ever needed. I was able to get my BC ameneded without any problems whatsover once the judge read the medical records. Ohio has a real problem with TS birth certificates but not intersexual ones [ it's in the Ohio Revised code]. I did all of the legal research on it and gave it to my lawyer.

I have been Blessed with 2 beautiful wives. The first one passed away and I met my present wife in church. She's been a Sunday school teacher for 50 yrs. We sorta fell in love at first meeting. I took her out to dinner. Two weeks later I told her about myself, showed her the medical stuff and we were married a few months later in the Church.

I am normally a very quiet kind of guy and don't discuss my personal business, but maybe this little bit of info will help an encourage other intersexed folks to come forward and join the discussion.

If you would like to discuss this further you may pm me,ok.

BullDog,

Thank you for your frank and honest disclosure of what being intersexed means. Like you, I do hope that more intersexed people come here and know that they are safe and as much of our community as anyone else. None of you have anything to be ashamed of or afraid of. We are all here together.

Welcome BullDog!!!

May be. I am having it checked out in September. I have scar tissue in the right place (or wrong place). I think I may have been born with a blind vagina - my thereapisrt wants me checked - no adams apple - sweetface - late puberty, quick reaction to HRT (I am already bigger in my chest than my mother). But mainly because of that scar,

Who knows, If so it would be extemely rare as I was performing male - having had three children. Will update one way or another.

Thank you Brenda.

And, as the old saying goes " you must be true to thine ownself". I'm a very happy man. We have grandkids and great grandkids [ on my wife's side]. They all know my situation and totally accepted it right from the beginning. Our one grandson is a Capt in the Army [ his wife is also a Capt]. He just deployed to Afghanistand. He's in MI and isn't allowed contact with anyone. I have a grandpa & ex Army feeling about where he's at though.

Anyway, we are all Gods childern. Some of us are white, some black, some brown and so on. Some are born totally male or female. Others are a mish-mash. Thank God for drs who are willing to help all of us get our bodies and mind set as one and not going in to too many different directions at once.

Lizzy, even though it would be extrememly rare, it is possible. Did you take a look at the pictures or rather website that was posted? They've got some very interesting pics over there, including one male who had a uterus and fallopian tubes also overies I beleive.

With all of that said. A so-called normal man or woman is really fortunate, they don't have to deal with all of the gender , physical and psychological drams that we, as either TS or intersexed individuals have to.

Just out of curiosity, which is the type of intersexualism that would cause a person to have a male external genitalia but internal female reproductive organs?

Link to comment

I know a intersexed whose self identity is female.

Has a set of both sexual organs, and menstrates monthly.

We all thought she was,for lack of a better term, loony,

when she would blurt out about her periods at group.

But the medical community agrees with her, after a long

battery of tests. And although I haven't seen her genitals

myself,I do believe her now.She was raised male, but her

parents must have been very enlightened for their time.

For they never had any surgeries preformed on her when

she was small.Letting time pass so she could choose which

sex to be. So it does happen,it is very rare, but it does happen.

Hmm, what exactly do you mean by "both sexual organs"? Is it possible for someone to have ONLY male external genitalia but fully female internal reproductive organs? And if so, could it be possible for them to have full male secondary sex characteristics and never know they were intersexed until they started getting a period? I think no, because people only have one pair of gonads and they can become either testicles or ovaries but not both, but, I'm not absolutely sure. I think someone could have fully male external organs, but have a uterus, and, possibly some hormone-producing tissue that might cause it to slough to the extent that there would be some menstruation due to hormone-induced reasons. I'm not sure. This is what I am wondering...

I don't know about one wehre they have a full set of both, if that's what you mean. It might be possible, but typically a main objection to the term "hermaphrodite" is that it brings to mind people with fully formed sets of both genitalia, and that's not true of what intersexed people are.

I do know about XX/XY chimera (chimera=2 sets of DNA in one body) cases where they have exactly half of each genitalia, so one testicle and one ovary, possibly a fully formed (or close enough) penis and half a uterus. They can't bear children in their uterus because it's only half, from my understanding, and I'm not sure what happens when they hit puberty without surgery because they have both a testicle and an ovary. In all the cases I've heard of this (only 2), they were surgically turned male at birth. Which is a bad idea, as one of them grew up to be a woman who could have had a working ovary if her parents hadn't thought they could control her gender.

Also, there are cases of women having very large clitorises, large enough to cause confusion at birth at least. I think it's caused by higher amounts of testosterone. I don't think this counts as male external genitalia- but it's kinda close since if it's large enough it can look a bit like a penis. I don't know if they're capable of penetrating, though.

It's possible to have internal male reproductive organs (undescended testes) and external female genitalia (vulva), such as in the case of Androgen Insensitive women who are XY chromosomally but don't respond to testosterone (either completely or partially) so form as female. I've never heard of the opposite, though.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. Cause I have heard about that. (The androgen insensitivity thing) but so I was wondering then, if there could be such a thing as a, I dunno, estrogen insensitive female, with exactly the opposite condition, internal female reproductive organs and external male genitalia?

There has never been, to the best of my knowledge (which isn't minuscule) a person born with both ovaries and testes, at least not functional - either being functional precludes the other from developing - although there are cases where people have one of each - it used to be called "true hermaphrodism" but I don't think that is the politically correct term any more.

There are between 50 and 100 identified Intersex conditions, a large number of which can give rise to genitals that appear male or female but with differing internal organs and only a complete and extensive medical work-up can determine which condition is present. "Gender identity" is not considered part of or even related to Intersex (for the most part).

I dunno if this is much help to you but congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is sometimes considered an intersex condition, I dn't know if you know anything about vlogging on YouTube but a transguy on there, probably the most popular of all of them, recently found out he has CAH and he's in his 20s. In terms of all the... erm girly issues I have been very irregular with that for about a year now and that is one of the symptoms of CAH so I am cuious to figure out whether or not I have that condition... you asked about having both genitals but there are also intersex conditions that do not involve having the genitals of both sexes, CAH being one of them. I think this holds true some forms of AIS as well..not sure though... (and of course there is what is still commonly referred to as "hermaphroditism", which simply means having the gonads of both sexes... which is not the same as having the genitals of both sexes :P)

I don't know how that works, but it's possible. Do you know if estrogen is converted to testosterone? I think AIS only works because the testes produce testosterone that the body doesn't react to, so it's then converted to estrogen that the body can use. I've never heard of estrogen being converted into testosterone, so I'm not sure how well the opposite could work. I could be wrong, though. And with so many different kinds of intersexed, it could happen.

Good morning, everyone! We're back from a short vacation with friends to the mountains of NC. It was a fun time driving the twisty mountain roads.   Now it's back to reality of cutting grass, washing windows and putting in screens and putting out the porch furniture. Coming home to warmer weather than when we left is glorious.   Happy Anniversary @Willow!    I hope your family is feeling better @KymmieL - my wife and I shared a stomach virus several weeks ago that was horrid.   Hang in there @Birdie, it will all work out!!   Have a wonderful day, everyone!

I think many Christians end up with a false dichotomy.  If we didn't choose to be how we are, then something in our environment did it. Is going along with it a sin?  Maybe.  But if so, its one of those times where we mess something up no matter what we do.  Part of the imperfect nature of this fallen world is that there are times where we'll sin no matter what we do.  In a no-win scenario like that, we do the wisest thing possible with our free will.

This is the crux of my anguish these many, many months (years!) and where I go back-and-forth with my own journey ... I was born a biological male. No denying that in my case. But I have a lot of internal feminine leanings and external ones, too. I prefer to wear women's clothes 100 percent of the time (if I could). I wish I had the female plumbing. I long for that badly sometimes. I don't know why or where that came from but no denying that either. I have started HRT because I like the idea of having a more feminine physical body and some of the "perks" that go with that. I just asked my doc to up my dose to the next level today!   So the big question I ask myself is: am I knowingly disobeying God, who likes order and made humans male and female, by taking these steps? This is my wife's take on things. "You are sinning. You know God made you a male biologically. Yet you are willfully pursuing transition to being something God didn't intend you to be regardless of what you feel inside, what your preferences are, etc."  I keep trying to tell her it's much more complex than that but sometimes I don't even know what I think...   This ties up in knots and makes me angry and makes me feel stuck!!! I don't want to disobey my Creator and Savior and yet I have this strong, strong leaning toward the feminine in many ways (that keeps getting stronger and refuses to go away no matter how much I have tried to stuff it away!!) ... It feels like misery no matter which path I take - if I "give in" to the feminine, which I have been doing a lot the past 12 months or so, am I endangering my soul? Am I creating scandal? Yet the thought of putting the feminine aside feels, at times, like death too (or is it just me being self-centered and unwilling to bend the knee to my Creator who would ask me to give this up as a testament to my love for him...   I don't know. I don't know. I don't know!! But sometimes I really really F***ing hate this quandary...

We use a ton of Harbor Freight stuff here.  They have pretty good warranty, too, I guess.  GF beats all heck out of sockets and things, and if she takes them back they get replaced for free.  Harbor Freight was junk 20 years ago, but its really good now.  Craftsman used to be good 20 years ago, but now its junk (but they still want to charge made-in-the-usa prices).  Dewalt is now Chinese also, when it used to be made in Germany.  Older Dewalt tools are good, but GF got a really bad hand injury a few years ago from a Chinese Dewalt drill bit that shattered.  Some of the name brands just aren't what they used to be.

Honestly, all the numbers are monkey math.  Doesn't matter who's in charge.  Trump kept crowing about the damn stock market, which didn't make a difference to normal people.  All the "job creation" is an illusion.  They consider it job creation when they take good full time jobs, and split them in half to "make" two part-time or temp jobs.  Not totally a Biden problem, as this has been going on for decades now.  Things *began* to get better under Trump.  A bit.  Maybe 8 years would have been better, but it wouldn't have fixed it.  Too much damage.    To me, Trump is a case of "too little, too late."  In my opinion, we need more - a true nationalist, with an aggressive and isolationist foreign policy.  And we needed him 50 years ago.  I want to see:   High import tariffs, a currency backed by precious metals, no more "climate" stuff and repudiation of all "accords" or other agreements, elimination of excess government agencies like the FBI and EPA, and total seizure of foreign-owned assets on US soil - with sale and disbursement of profits to our citizens.  And that would be a basic start.  Instead of "sanctions" to interrupt the trade of nations we don't like, Congress should instead issue letters-of-marque as described in the Constitution.  I'd like to see an alliance with Russia, and an end to nearly a century of useless conflict.    Trump won't do any of those things.  He's a sad, pale imitation of the leaders that founded our nation.

Well I got some terrible news today. My therapist is a doctoral intern at the VA. Her internship is ending the end of July. Normally interns just continue with the VA after their degree is done. However, VA has a hiring freeze on. So, I am going to loose one of the best therapists I have ever had. One that actually cares about me. I do have a few months till she leaves, Thankfully.   Other than that. my wife and youngest are both sick. Don't know if they got it worse that I had on Thurs/Friday. Or I am destine to get it too.   I've got tools that range from cheapy flea market stuff all the way up to high grade, Mac and Snap-on. Most have lasted me for quite a long time. I am diligently trying to keep my happy arse out or the Snap-on truck when he comes every Thurs. So far, I have resisted. But the temptation is there.   Kymmie

IMO: If politicians stopped focusing on which bathrooms people were using and, you know, the actual issues of the country, maybe we could work on that 30+ trillion dollar debt of ours? Put more effort into international cooperation? Consider ways to improve education? Literally anything more productive than worrying about what's in some lady's pants you'll never meet?

I have been thinking of this one a bit today since my first response here.  If you check out the relation that Peter had with Jesus and you can see that even Jesus was criticized for being who Jesus was by Peter.  In that relationship which I have come to think was more of a Chosen Family situation than genetic family,  Peter was telling Jesus who Peter thought Jesus should be. Especially when it came to Jesus being killed for what his true identity was.  Transgender is very much an issue of identity and not primarily about sexuality.  Sexuality is the BIG thing with certain religious groups and if you look at it, it is always about pro-creating kids into certain genealogies and making them new church members.

Good evening   @Adrianna Danielle wow 13 years out of a harbor freight tool.  That’s amazing, and lucky.  I read an article recently about how harbor freight does make inexpensive tools. It seems that some percentage of them are expected to fail in some manner.  However they are typically made with the same laborers  parts design as name brand high end tools.  If you get a good one it can last for a long time.

Happy anniversary @Willow!   Good luck, @Birdie!   Congratulations on the new gear @Adrianna Danielle!   My family is currently considering a big move. My wife applied for and received an offer for a job in WA. If all things are equal I am down for a change of scenery, but it’s not that simple. Much maths are about to happen…wish me luck! ;)

Or they could live and let live and not clog the courts with games of roulette? To absolve the attempt based on a perceived chance of success is gambling in another guise.   Sure, it could all be marketing to gin up the base, but we see it constantly getting pushed at the local, State, and Federal levels. Don’t we want lawmakers focused on issues of import? Maybe we’re a distraction, but that means we become social targets. If we’re really just a side show game to them, they obviously don’t give a damn what the repercussions are for us; we’re just lambs for slaughter. So why support people or adjacent policies that do that to us? Why believe these jaguars won’t eat your face when they tell you that, if they can, they will?

Manufacturing jobs have increased by nearly 800k since Biden’s inauguration. Deficits and debt are up as well, which water down some of the positive metrics.  Given the fact we were coming out of a pandemic and then into a global economy affected by a Russian aggression and then a war in the Middle East, things wouldn’t be ideal. But we’re not on a gold standard anymore. Government budgets aren’t household budgets. Inflation was up but is coming down, which means that government spending isn’t uncontrolled.  Honest news media? Which news are we referring to? I recommend looking into Ground.news and their blind spot feature. It will show you, regardless of your leanings, what you’re not seeing in your typically consumed news.    MAGA is not about making America great again or otherwise. It’s a marketing cult for populist conservatism, aka the cult of Trump. America being great is not bad or a bad idea, but its choice as the moniker of the campaign is not-so-subtle political marketing. By default, no one wants to argue against the idea, however it creates a dichotomy where “the other side must not want (or is actively trying to destroy) it”. It’s an empty slogan because America was no greater during the Trump years and you can logically argue our global cache was diminished during his term, which was marked by sentiment of the US being a unilateral agitator.
