Out On The Town

Hi ya'll,

I have to say that I keep thinking about last Saturday night and I can't believe that I was able to go out in total femme attire. I had on my favorite dress and make up and the whole deal and I felt great driving around in my car. Once I parked and started walking down the street alone I started to get a little uneasy but, I walked about three blocks looking for a safe place to sit and have a drink. Sadly I was not able to find a place I felt save in and ended up sitting in my car shaking with fear and anxiety. This was a big accomplishment but, I now realize if I am going to enjoy going out I need to have a safe place to go. And tonight I met with Jocelyne from a group called Transgender Health and Education Association or T.H.E.A. they meet in Arlington Virginia once a month and now that I have had my interview I can start attending there group meetings. This is going to be assume 2 1/2 hours of Amanda time with other people like me. I can wait.

Peace & Love Amanda

I'm glad things went OK, but you do need to be very careful when out by yourself. You showed

good presence of mind not to go into any place you weren't comfortable with.

The TG support group sounds like a terrific idea, and you'll have loads of fun, I'm sure.

Don't forget, Hon, that you need not post everything in the Introductions Forum. There are several

other forums where this would also have been perfectly fine.

Good luck on your next night out!

Amanda,

I heartily recommend an escort, preferably male. If you can think of someone you trust enough to come out to, ask him to accompany you. You are much safer, and will have a much better time, with an escort. Perhaps someone in the new group you are joining? You could perhaps trade off roles with a new friend from this group, so you each get the chance to go out en femme, and each also serve as male escort for the other? An escort is really that important.

Well, Amanda.....

I'll certainly give you credit for nerve!

I'm over 6 months HRT and I haven't been out in full dress , although I've been Ma'nd and Ladied a number of times while dressed neutral...

Ok, Hon....you are making me get my courage up! I have an important trip coming up in 10 days where I need to dress...*whew*!

But, The advice about the escort is golden!

You must be safe..that's paramont!

Next time be safe and have fun................OK?

Good!

Hey Amanda - and well done!

Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't think a Saturday night would be the best time to go out dressed up (for obvious reasons), but go out in the day time to somewhere a little less busy and have fun with it. :)

You have definitely taken a large step forward. Great job hun!

Just remember, you are looking for trouble if you stay alone. Don't ever let that happen.

Oh, and, good luck for next time, you can do it :)

Amanda, well done. It is nice to get out en-femme. I am still in an early stage of going out in public, and very nervous. I think the advice of having an escort sounds good, but I don't know anyone who I could ask. I only go out at night, and tend to drive to another area, find a street that isn't to busy with pedestrians and walk about, but within easy access to the car if things get to much for me. Large well lit car parks are good locations just to get used to walking about. Although I'm still nervous about it, part of it is due to the fact that I am not used to walking in heels yet, and once I get over that and can walk confidently in them, I feel I'll be able to be a bit more adventerous with my outdoor trips. On my one of my earliest trips out, I used a drive through at fast food outlet to order a drink, which was a bit nervy, but once I was served and on my way I felt quite pleased about it.
