Walking In Memphis

By Sally Michelle Jackson

I was always so shy and I hid in the dark

But two friends and I decided on a lark

We all met in a central town it was in Memphis you see

Not in Egypt but West Memphis across from Tennessee

We were staying a few miles from Graceland

We couldn’t just pass with it so close at hand

We decided to go over for some Memphis Bar-B-Q

Maybe to purchase an Elvis souvenir or even a few

We talked to people to ask for pictures of all three

We walked and a gentleman wanted to chat with me

If I had known then what I know now

It would have changed my life and how

I wasted so much time living in fear

So much of my life that I hold dear

I was always afraid that I would never pass

But that fear has been laid to rest at long last

Now it is all just that nagging question regarding time

How long will hormones take to make my body mine

I am so ready but alas my funds or low

So into male mode and off to work I go

Love ya,

Sally

Hi Sally -

Here's a "happier" ending for your poem:

But I know in the near future, I’ll be who I was always meant to be

And wake up one morning and in the mirror I’ll see me!

Just a suggestion! :)

Hey, Kayleigh, I see some talent showing through! You've got potential, girl. Let's have some more, OK?

Thanks Carolyn -

I'm not an "empty soul" you know! :)

BTW - Sally your poem is very inspiring, even w/o my ending!

You're all great! - Kayleigh
