Just Came Out To A Close Friend; Now The Hard Part

I just came out to a really close friend last night and it went extremely well. She said she figured I'd tell her something about this at some point. It seems my voice, gestures, mannerisms and such gave me away... lol She was totally accepting and compassionate. The hard part is telling my wife, family, and other friends when the time is right; as well as finding a therapist to work with. But I wanted to share with everyone. Sounds like this was your first experience of coming out. That is so cool!! You took a very big step and it went well You will find that it becomes easier to come out to those that you care about once past the very first time of coming out

Good for you, Alicia. Practice makes perfect, and so far you are doing very well.

Take it from me, telling your wife will be the hardest thing you will have to do. Wait until you are sure the

time is right and you are ready. Be prepared for any kind of reaction, from the supportive to the negative

to shock and a blank look. When I came out to my spouse recently, I got more of the last kind of reaction.

You never know. But things have been working out pretty well for me, and I hope they do for you too.
