Why isn't anybody intrested in answereing my question, entitled " What do I do" I would like to know if someone could answer it and maybe elaborate with their own stuff. Or is it that people just like to go on here and pregnant dog their own stuff?

It's the one entitled "Hey"

This topic is entitled "Hey" but I don't see any question "What do I do". What seems to be your problem?

Since I came out 3- days ago I don't seem to have any ambition to want to do my homework or anything. I go to a Univ. and if I don't do any of my homework I'll certainly flunk out. Also, I have been wanting to go to Cosmetology School or a nail tech. Do you think just suddenly dropping out of college to pursue that is foolish considering that I dont think it makes that much money, and I'll need money for what I want to do.

Melisa, if you have the intelligence to get into a university, I strongly encourage you to start working and utilizing those skills to

give yourself a real career. Being a cosmetologist is an honorable job, but it isn't a profession. You could make, over the course

of a working career, 10 times what you could as a cosmetologist with a bachelors or masters degree in any field.

Don't throw away your future because of your excitement over coming out.

In answer to your question - yes, I think it would be foolish. Very.

Melisa,

I work at a University and I know that your earnings in a lifetime will be 1 to 2 million dollars greater with a Graduate Degree. Did you know that you could be accepted into a graduate program and receive a tuition waiver as well as a stipend of 20K or more while you attend school for a PhD? Even if you decided to become a lowed paid teacher the starting pay at a decent university will be around 80K. If you did research and published papers you could make upwards of 200K. Professors only teach around 6 to 8 hours a week plus hold office hours. If you add in grading papers you total hours in week would be around 20 - 30 max.

You can always take care of friends hair and nails if your are compelled to do that. Just my 2 cents.

Melisa,

Carolyn just wrote - "Being a cosmetologist is an honorable job, but it isn't a profession. You could make, over the course of a working career, 10 times what you could as a cosmetologist with a bachelors or masters degree in any field."

While in many cases that would be true, a very VERY good nail tech can make in the upper five figures (or more), and considering that nail places are popping up like fresh popcorn all over the place, getting into ownership and multiple shops, and there is something to be said about it.

My daughter is just finishing a nail tech course in expectation of getting her licence/certificate shortly. (and works full/part time at a day spa, so she is aware of the market). The cost isn't anywhere near a 4 year degree, but the very beginning income isn't that much either. She tried college and decided it wasn't for her, and considering that the current job market makes switching careers numerous times more likely in one's lifetime, it's as good as any to start.

Not that I'm saying it will work for you or anyone in particular, just that you should investigate whatever is available to you, and decide what you want to do. Getting into a job you'll stay in, because you can deal with it, can mean more then trying for a field you may find you don't enjoy and have to start over.

ps. Carolyn, my other daughter has her degree from a Big 10 U, my spouse will be getting her degree this semester, my son after 6 years military and 5 years work is now attending college part time and should have his in 2-3 years. I have both a BS and Masters. So there is something to be said for college degrees too.

Melissa, I would very much suggest to use your best judgment. Earn money from getting a job after college and then look into maybe free/extra courses to learn how to do cosmetology, but while you are young it might not be the best starting job, since it would not make as much as pretty much any job you will earn after getting a good degree in college.

Either way, DO pursue cosmetology, just focus on other things right now.

PM any or several of the Moderators or Administrators if you want to have something changed due to spelling errors, or if you simply want to have an entire post deleted.  We do not allow members to edit their own posts since there are some items we restrict from being posted.  Those things are in the Community Rules and if a Staff member has removed something because of the rules we do not want it coming back.  https://www.transgenderpulse.com/community-rules/   Use the PM system to contact us and include a link to the post you want changed.

Do I ever feel? There isn't a single minute that goes by that I feel that way. I have such a strong hate for what I have that there isn't a word out there for it.

I already tried that. Either too old like 60's and 70's or married. Not many people who would want to date a trans woman in dead red Mississippi. Maybe once things calm down just get a Mustang GT and just give up on it. Both are going to bring joy and pain. At least I could learn and share my love of cars with my kids when they get that old. I wouldn't even know what to do if someone said they wanted me. I would've already been thinking in my mind they are just going to ghost me so what's the point. I just don't know what to do anymore. I tried putting myself out there online and out in person. I haven't tried a bar yet although that's probably a bad idea. Maybe just to experience it again. I haven't been to one since 2013. The only problem I see is I'm not a night owl for sure. I go to bed at 8-830. My expectations were just that I wouldn't get rejected last. I have been able to handle a good bit of it but this one really hurt. I guess that's what happens when you have some hopes and expectations. It's not like I have another friend IRL to talk about this. She is my only one. I wished I didn't put myself out there.

As one who had to deal with the Porn/Adult Entertainment business as commercial, taxpaying businesses on a professional level, I can say that they are in it for money and the highest percentage of their income comes from ultra conservative areas where adequate Medical and Mental Health Profession and University Science instruction on Trans issues are banned.    It makes me wonder how much porn literature is hidden behind the 13 Bibles and Bible Study guides on some people's family bookshelves.

Do you ever feel trapped in a body that doesn't feel like yours?

There's the old thing of getting out and getting involved in things in the community and meeting people that way. Does your church have a food pantry? Does it have service opportunities you could plug into otherwise? You might run into someone that way.
    • Ashley0616
Well that didn't go well. She said she is intentionally single. When will I just stop thinking about putting myself out there. It really hurt but rejection and getting ghosted is just my second language apparently. The one person I have told all my dark secrets and didn't run off. At least we are friends. I'm happy only when I'm sleeping and that is it because things actually go my way from time to time. Just another wonderful day of me. SMDH!

In their minds, yes, unless it is clearly, consistently, forcefully articulated by those who represent trans people that we are not.  I'm not sure who that would be.

So, this proves that we're all  pedophiles? I suspect that the majority of pedophiles are probably cis.   Yeah, Alexander the Great was probably queer.  What does this have to do with me needing to pee?   I am so tired of this ___.  I raised 8 kids and never molested any of them - unless you count changing diapers without closing my eyes.  Yeah… so tired.   It makes me wonder what is actually on these people's minds.
