Has anyone read the book "Luna"?

It's about a MTF teenager. I saw it at the local library but was to scared to check it out. What do you guys think of it?

Haven't heard of it, but you got me curious. I'll have to give it a boo. I'm sure the shop down the road would have it. Venus Envy, it's called. The store for women and those who love them :D

Hey, I haven't actually read it myself, but I've read very positive feedback about the book...

I have been trying to get my hands on it, but I would feel weird asking a librarian if they have that book...

I don't know if you have read summary, so just in case you haven't, here's the wikipedia summary :)

Well, I'm convinced!

It's now on my "Must read" list!

I read the Wiki explanation of the storyline and it sounds wonderful...

I want it!

HUGGS!

I read Luna last summer, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is about an MTF individual and her sister, and their relationship with their parents... and it is very well done. Another good trans read for young adults is Parrotfish by Ellen Wittlinger. Her book is about an FTM individual who decides to come out to parents and his high school.

I am so glad to see trans-themed literature on the library and store shelves... I just read a memoir from someone coming out as trans in the 1980s, and he could only find an outdated and prejudiced textbook-- and he never saw a picture of or met another FTM until he began transitioning. Wow. Thank goodness things are moving forward.

I read it and enjoyed it - but the ending was inconclusive. It's written for the young reader market and intended to show that diversity is okay. Luna is the 'MTF brother' and the story is from the sister's veiwpoint who is helping Luna be accepted.

Worth buying but don't expect great writing - just a wonderfully sympathetic account. It can be found in the youth books section.

I liked it. It made me cry, and I really got attached to the book. I felt that extra level of sympathy, because the trans is a programmer, as am I. Any way, since it's from the sister's point of view there is humor in the fact that she doesn't know all the terms, so the book became a laugh/cry affair to me... Loved the book, and it helped me cope after an attempt.

I really enjoyed this book. It's an easy read and quite moving. I'd say it has a happy ending, but this is because Luna is such a resourceful and intelligent person who will survive and thrive no matter what. Most people who were depressed and suicidal in school drop their grades and maybe drop out. Luna is one or those people so common in fiction who gets 100% on every test while barely attending school. So it's a bit unbelievable, and the parents are stock characters- especially the father. But on the relationship between the two siblings and the pressures of living a lie and keeping secrets and then coming out it's very convincing. And it shows the pressures on Luna's sister as the only one who truly knows and loves her, and the problems this creates.

I hope I haven't put anyone off rreading this book. It's worth three hours of anyone's time.

I'm so late! But I give Luna two thumbs up.

I'd also highly recommend Almost Perfect by Brian Katcher (another MTF story). I liked it even more than Luna, actually. Just a tiny bit.

I wouldn't recommend Parrotfish (a FTM story) by Ellen Wittlinger. I couldn't get myself to like the main character, Grady, at all. But you should know it exists, anyway, because maybe you'll love it. =D

Hello everyone

I read that book and actually own it. As for a review of it, it does a fair job of explaining the internal turmoil of the inner TG mind. However i think the main character was a little risky in there decisions however for a read it was not that bad but not the best TG book i've read
