As it says, hello world! this is my first ever overt post as a tg person. for the record, i'm a MTF transgendered person. i have known that this is what i am since i was maybe 3 or 4 years old. anyway, so long ago that i can't be sure about the age. some of my earliest memories are of wanting to play with the other little girls but not being allowed to. this should not be surprising as the era i'm speaking of was the early 1950's. i was allowed to play with little boys, period. so, at 59, that makes me 56 years into this tortured imprisonment. as i'm sure you can guess, i've spent most of my life trying to pretend it doesn't exist. i gave up in 2000 after becoming remarkably suicidal. i've been in therapy continually since and went through 4 therapists before i found a fit. it's been a hard road since then, trying to salvage something of life. i'm not trying to actually transition, you know - srs, although I did spend a number of years living as a female when I was young; but that's another long story. i hope to get something from this site that may help me deal with the issues. my first reaction is that i'd love to read every single post, but that's not really very feasible for the short term; but i am reading, so we'll see.

Yes, for me the final year was 2003. I know exacly what you mean. You reach a point of no return and that is it, you know who you are and you cannot go back to the way you were.

Now that I make my joke, you can see there is a lot of information here at Laura's. :P

I'm one of the more senior crowd, myself (cough!) at 55, and discovered just this year that I'm TS. So I know how you feel, Hon.

Right now, its my intention to transition, although I haven't given myself a timetable.

Please do look around at any forum that interests you, as well as the chat rooms and research forums. Make yourself at home...

Well Hello Maggie,

I'm 58 myself and as you may have noticed, I'm the cookie baker for the forums - not sire how that actually happened but it did and it seems to fit so we like to welcome everyone with some virtual snacks, it just seems friendly and sets the tone, we are here for support and information but that doesn't have to exclude friendships and fun.

If the 116,935 + posts seems to be too daunting of a task, you could start by just reading mine - that's just over 7,286 so not so much to read! :lol:

Seriously this site can become addictive so be sure to set an alarm clock for when you need to leave or the night will slip away from you like it does so often for me.

ok, i can feel the acceptance and lack of judgement ... makes me want to cry, seriously. the thought of actually "being myself" is staggering. i spent most of my life thinking that would never be possible.

Welcome and a Big Hug Maggie!!! Laura's Playground is such a wonderful, accepting place for people of all ages, but for our generation it is a special safe haven for those of us who have struggled for so many years in isolation to simply be who we are. And Hun! that is the key for all of us to just be who we are among people who understand and accept us. As you will read in the posts there is no one way about transitioning, no right or wrong way but what feels right to you. There is really no right or wrong language or terminology that applies to everyone, but again what seems to fit and have meaning for you. I suspect there are a number of wonderful cooks on this site too. Maybe we ought to have a recipe sharing thread. I have a recipe to die for from my mother for prune bread and another from my grandmother for "baba" her Polish sweet bread.

      My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

      From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

      I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

      Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

      Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

      Service manager screwed up this morning.had to do a service on a Kenworth.Sent me the,wrong filters and forgot to order a valve cover gasket.I had to do valve lash adjustments on it during the service.

      Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬
