Outed At My Docs

When I first started going to Dr G,

She had a private practice, and all her help were used to interacting with

transsexuals on a regular basis. Therefore we were always gendered right

and treated with respect to our gender.Then...She joined a medical group.

Now there are many new folks that haven't had much if any interaction with

one of us.Today,I was sitting in the waiting room, when an assistant opened

the door, and called out my birth name not once but Thrice.I knew I was the

first appointment,and it hit me like a jolt.Of course I ignored her,I haven't

used that name in a long long time.I waited until she called my last name,

but the damage had been done.Everyone in that waiting room knew who

she was calling.I just smiled and shined it off,why get upset?I can't deny who

I am and wouldn't want to anyway. And it was fun introducing a new nurse to

that facts of who we are so openly and joyfully. Bet your booty I told Dr G

about getting my records straight though.I do not want that kind of thing to

happen when I visit again. And that will be soon.

Hmmm Angie,

Your DR. G, slipped up big time! Dr. G should have made your situation clear to the staff. This never should have happened. Reprocussions from the nurse not knowing the proper way to address you could have been disaterous. Outing you like that is simply wrong and unprofessional. You should have never had to experience that humiliation.

Love you

Brenda

I agree with Brenda. If you can't get a commitment from Dr. G to address the issue with her staff, then you should address it yourself and explain

the potential consequences to you.

wow...I think you took that really well.

I completely agree with Bernie. Wrong and Unprofessional.

I don't even know if I would've taken it as well as you. Good job on dealing with it.

Thank God, I've never had that happen. But, quite a few years ago I did have a bad experience with the drs offce record keeping. I just happened to catch it when I requested some info that I had to take to a meeting. Well, when I got that pc of info, they had me as that other sex and man I went off.:angry:

I called the office and was so hot that the line caught fire. They quickly changed the sex on all of my records. had I not caught this it cought have been terribly embarrassing to me.

I 'SACKED' (Fired) my GP when I overheard him talking to other staff about me and using MALE personal pronouns. HE,HIM &His no longer fit the package. He and the staff got the name right and the Gender wrong... I seldom get sick or need Medical attention but I am now in the market for one who is capable of seeing a Pre-Op TS as a Female.

Regards, Tiff.

I've had this happen at my Endo's office on a couple of occasions, what upset me he is a member of WPATH. When he came in the exam room that was the first thing we spoke about and let me tell you it got fixed before I left the exam room. It seems he has allot of trans-folk who utilize his service's.

Angie;

Stinks that this happened to you but it sounds like you handled yourself well. As for getting a new GP, I would wait and talk to your doctor. There is a lot of hassle in changing from private practice to being part of a group and you may have just slipped through the cracks.

Way to hold your head up, but I know that stings, especially when the doctor does it. I've gotten that from staff and technicians in the past. I switched clinics once because there was this black woman at the front desk who always took pleasure in calling me sir, Mr. etc. and this was a clinic for "transgenders" !!

Well, I have a lighter story of my first visit to my gender doc.....

I went in male mode, not knowing what to expect.....

In the waiting room...the girl came out and said "We're ready for you..."...no name at all...very generic in front of everyone...

Well, in the back the nurse said.."How are you today, Donna Jean?" I was horrified.."OMG! SHE KNOWS!"

She weighed me and had me sit in the exam room....soon another girl came to take blood..."How's it going, Donna Jean!" EEEEK!

Then the doc came in and I got my hormones script...yadda yadda...

Then I had to make my next appointment at the desk!

"When is good for you, Donna Jean?""....OMG EVERYBODY KNOWS! .... DANG!

Needless to say that my next trip back was in girl mode...

I also go to Dr. G, and she is one of the only docs in town for us trans folk that understands us and does treat us with respect. As for being outed i'm sorry that happened to you Angie, Did she get a new nurse? Dr. G has alot of patients and takes her time with me as I have a whole other set of medical issues. It it wasn't for her i wouldn't have found a trans friendly cardiologist in conserative San Antonio. Next Time the nurse will get it right.

i hate this at sugeries, but i have not got a name change but it is still some what embarassing

but at my new sugery when filling out the details to join there is a section which you have to state what you want to be called when the doc calls your name, which i think is brilliant not just for trans people but for people who dont like there names!

It was an honest mistake by someone who is not familar dealing

with transsexuals.I set her straight, but I did it nicely with a positive

attitude a smile and joking.I learned not to get uptight, because Dr G

is always correct and friendly and so is Jeniffer her assistant.

Mistakes happen,it is how you handle it that makes a difference.(wink)

I raise my hand in the group, I have a question and a suggestion... is it allowed to share other new lgbtq+ website links here?
    • Ladypcnj
Yeah, ELF is a good brand, another brand is Revlon ColorStay last 24 hours.

I really don't think that's a good idea. The unity of the LGB and T community is historic and has been central for both groups rights. And the vast majority of people advocating for splitting the two are transphobic LGB's who are broadly condemned by the community anyway.

A bit late in updating, but I've had the draft of the official diagnosis and have (as yet unconfirmed) an endo consultation next month.   Next to arrive will be the supporting documentation for my new passport application for my correct gender.  This will then be my official ID for all the other updates - bank, tax, payroll etc.   It just feels good to to be proactive again rather than waiting for other people to move at a leisurely pace.

I like ELF brand cosmetics, I can pick them up at JC Penny.    I wear makeup everyday, but mostly just very light makeup.

Hello & welcome, @Ali_Genderlfuid! Look forward to learning more about you.

Hi Mae Be, whenever it comes to makeup, there are so many different bands to choose from. Picking out the right makeup comes with trial and error, until you find one that works for you and blends well with your skin tone, some makeup products can leave the skin feeling oily. It's a good idea to look at the labels on the makeup product to know what the creators put in the makeup, just in case skin allergies. Once you found the makeup brand, you can add it to your shopping list, good luck

To be fair I’m pretty lost when it comes to makeup technique. I’ve watched videos, but I have no idea what works for or would help my features. So I just bungle along, hoping I don’t look terrible.
