My roomie has had a bit of legal issues come down on her,

So Sue and myself,being her only real friends,decided to go visit her today.

Only bad is her marker still reads M.That awful simple letter that has her

thrown in with the men.(that would be terrible to be a woman in with the men)

Anyways,we get to the counter and the sherriff asked for my ID. With great

pleasure and a smile on my face, I handed it to him.He read it three times,

looked at the F repeatedly.Then he finally told me,"I wasn't on the list Ma'am."

It looked hard for that man to say that ma'am,but he did. Ahahahahaha

This was only the second time in nine months I have been asked to show my

identification...And it felt so positive,freeing and wonderful,despite the situation.

A trans women in a Texas jail...any jail...a nightmare......

Roomie is in a heap of trouble.

I am to have power of attorney to take care of her legal matters.

But from what she has said,she may be going up river to TDC for

a while.I know she is segregated from the general population,and

is in with the gay prisoners for her protection.Because of the lack

of that one simple letter,she is thought of,put in,addressed as a man.

I do not know what the charges are against her,but is probably thought

of as habitual,since this will be her third time on the same charges and

she hasn't even been to court on the second charge.I will keep her stuff

safe and together,but can't promise her anything beyond that,for I do not

know what my own life will be like,when I see her next time a free woman.

What a bittersweet story. Every affirmation experience is just wonderful. I am glad that you have had that experience. Getting addressed as one's true gender is just wonderful. On the other hand, I feel really bad for your roomate Being trans and in jail... not good.
