Scooby,

I am glad you are hear. It is a bit overwhelming when you start to let it all out. It can also be freeing to tell your story and to be accepted by everyone here.

Please know you are safe.

No one will see anything about you that you don't want them to see.

I am fully out and have no worries about anyone seeing me. That is mainly because no one that I don't want to know about this part of my life knows my femme name is Amanda and I am surfe the same goes for you scooby.

Being Trans and being a parent is a big challenge. I agree with the HRC stance on this subject and that is to be out is to be free and also gives a name to the ones that you know and love to who we are. The world needs to know that we are regular people that happen not to fit into the traditional male and female gender roles. That is hard for some people to understand and respect. But. If we don't live our authentic lives we are harming ourselves. It is hard to love someone else fully if you are unable to love yourself. If you share your own challenges with your children who have challenges I believe that this will lower their stress and make them more likely to be completely honest with you about who they are and what they need. I also want you to know that you should plan on educating yourself before you do this There is no need to rush into this. Take some time to read as much as you can here. Also go to the HRC-Human Right Campaige web site and check out their guide to telling family about being TG. It walks you through all the emotions you can expect to hear and see when you share this with other. I have be able to tell my Mother and my brothers about this and I was ready for their responses. I feel so much better about my need to transition now that I have their support. You also need to have a close friend to talk to about this. If you do not have any TG friends seak out a gay friend. Gay people can identfy with the pain of hiding who you really are to others. My gay friends and brother have be great assets to me and have made me feel so much more comfortable with who I am than I ever thought was possible.

I love to talk and now you can send private messages to anyone you want. So if that is more your speed right now try that. Do what ever makes you happiest.

Peace & Love Amanda
