Shaving

I have a bit of hair on my legs, under my armpits and a bit in my arms along with the center joints of my toes and fingers. I also have peach fuzz on my face, which is nearly impossible to distinguish unless you glare at it from an inch away; but how many of you actually shave the cheeks? I was also wondering on coming up with an excuse as to shaving my areas but my parents are hardcore Christians and would literally disown me if I did such a thing, and to add to that everyone knows the stereotypical Asian parents. -dramatic music-

Thanks in advanced for any replies!

Hi,

why it is against their religion if you shave your body? Take a look to the leader of the church the pope. Does he have a big beard like Santa Claus? No, maybe this is caused by shaving. You also cut your hairs on top of your head. So why to stop some inches lower?

I have to shave my cheeks. It is not much but it is easier to cut of all in one turn than to pull out each one by one.

It is your body and you have your religion. You must live with shaved cheeks not your parents.

Greetings

Nelly

What is lycra?

Also, it's not necessarily against the religion it's just if they found out I do what I do they would react so due to the strong belief in the religion and an automatic assumption that I'm homosexual. I'm sure they wouldn't believe me if I told them otherwise. I'm not participating in any sports that involve shaving either.

Hi,

"Lycra" is a brand name of Du Pont for an elastic polymer that is used to make elastic clothing like speedos or cycling pants or swimsuits. Everything that fit really tight and look shinny is also called lycra in normal life.

So how often are your parents inspecting your body hair for you now? I shave my armpits, chest, face of course, and my thighs up to my, well, and down to the knee. When I'm wearing shorts and a shirt no one could ever suspect I'm pretty clean shaven(!). This winter, my project will be shaving my legs (they'll mostly be in long pants all winter long, who will be the wiser? Can't wait!

Do what makes you happy, my friend, if it's hurting no one else. Life's way too short not to be you.

Everyday a few times. For some reason they're just so up tight. There's no way I'd go a half a day without being caught.

Part of the question is how hard you may be trying to "pass" as a female. Clearly you're not trying to do so when your parents are around.

While I love and respect all my sisters here who do pass - and for whom, in many cases, "passing" is not even the right word to use - for myself it's not an issue. I'm a man in a man's body in clothing society says belongs to women. And I feel no need to shave my cheeks. (Legs are a different story, though...)

In any case, before you get into it with your parents, you might want to assess your own needs and desires. If you really feel a need to shave, then it's probably important to find a way. However, if you can be comfortable crossdressing with hair, maybe that's a place to start until you can either get out from under your parents' gaze or help them find a way to be more understanding. Which, I know, may be easier said than done: my dad's African, and in 40 years has barely assimilated to "mainstream" American culture.

In either case, good luck! I agree with Krystyna Marie that "Life's way too short not to be you."

I'm sorry, did you just say that your parents inspect your armpits, leg, and private hair? What?

Yeah, wow. That is more than just uptight. Do they know or suspect, and they're trying to intimidate you into not dressing? Or do they not have a clue? In which case that is not healthy, normal parenting. My parents were just uptight and even they gave us a little room to breathe when we were teens . . . Perhaps some (secular?) family counseling is an option?

They don't check but we only have 1 bathroom so it's not hard to see most of my bare body after a shower every morning especially since we both need to get up at around the same time. I feel the need to look nearly perfect. I'm not a transsexual I just want to look cute enough to confuse the people with good enough of an eye to perceive a normal dresser/transsexual apart from the male an female born gender. Like the picture shown below (not me) but a popular Japanese crossdresser.

If you are concerned about running into your parents while moving from the bathroom to your room, just bring your clothes into the bathroom with you.

Wow she's really cute. On a related note, I think Asians on an average do a very good job at passing or at least they have an easier time than others.

I'm not sure as to why my reply wasn't posted for a few weeks but I'll give it another entry just in case it got lost somewhere or something. Thanks Anna and all the others who decided to reply to my thread, but I've always thought about the clothes thing. It's quite embarrassing but in eastern Asian cultures such as Korean, Japanese or Chinese cultures it's not abnormal for friends and family to see you nude during a shower or bath. Obviously due to a dilution in the American culture here only our families keep such culture in tact during our lives if we're not completely (no mean to be offensive) whitewashed in American culture. Not only that but I have a skin condition where my skin produces no oil whatsoever so I need special medication applied onto my back where; and clearly I cannot see my back easily so after a shower (not always) I have some help with the medication (pretty much ointment) on my back from my mother and I doubt a towel will be able to hide a hairless body from a mother's eyes. Not to mention that I need to apply lotion and medical treatment before I wear clothes so it's much harder to work with. This condition lasts from an infantry in some cases, in others until teen, others until late teen, adult-age, and for lifetime; however mine will go away late teens and it is already much better and seems like it will go away within a half year to a year after 16 years of suffering.

The only good thing about this condition is that due to the lack of oil, my skin never breaks out in any form of blemishes other than rashes and sunburns (though very sensitive to those). No, not even acne. Hurray! In a few months I will be enjoying a clean surface with no blemishes! ;O

But being back on topic and stopping the boasting, what would be a good way? As for my cross dressing problem, I decided once I purchase a car I will be able to hide them under the trunk mat below the spare tire in a locked suitcase-like case. Any criticism, ideas and advice on anything related to what I've talked about in this topic is appreciated.

Thanks in advanced! ~Truly.

Perhaps you could come up with something about it being easier to apply the lotion/ointment to shaved skin? Say something about hair absorbing the lotion or getting in the way. Without hair the lotion gets applied directly and is more effective. Maybe that will work? I hope everything works out :)

Thanks for the advice, and sorry for the late reply I was awfully busy. That might work and I will probably give that a shot, but I have a good feeling it will work if I do it a few months later at a certain time. Also, any other advice?

Another question; Should I do it and then tell her if she asks me or let my mother know first?

Guest April63

I think you should just do it, because then you act like it's really no big deal. You can say that you were just experimenting. You thought it might work better shaved, and so you tried shaving, and found out that it works better that way. If you ask her first, you will be putting more emphasis on the act of shaving, and you might set yourself up for some trouble by doing so.

I think one day, you're going to be on your own - whether at university or whatever - and you're going to have to find a way to apply your own ointment. I really mean this in the nicest, most complimentary way, but if you're old enough to be thinking for yourself about lifestyle issues like CDing, you're old enough to figure out how to stand on your own two feet. Your parent's make it easy for you to depend on them, if you have grown, mentally, beyond that stage in your life (god knows I reached a point I was done with having my parents making my decisions for me, but I think I was about 17 when I got there), it may be time to consider depending on yourself for a while - the wonderful thing about taking care of yourself is that when you do, no one really has the right to tell you how to live your life.

Kisses, KM

My chest is pretty hairfree but I shave around my nipples (and genitals of course), but I wear opaque nylons or suspender hose, so don't do anything with my legs.

Welcome to the wide, wild world of transgender, M.A.  It can definitively be overwhelming, but everyone here is amazing, so no doubt you'll get bunches of wonderful support. I think you'll be happy you found us.

@Ladypcnj  This is so true.  I think all of us here have had a post or two that didn't get a response.  Sometimes, it's as simple as adding to your original to post for a clearer explanation, or re-reading what you wrote originally, and rephrasing it.  But don't despair, we aren't ignoring you.   Hugs,   Sally

What season are you?  If you don't know, look around on the internet. Or ask a girl friend..  Maybe someone here is even a color consultant?   And there are guides on figure-flattering clothes for all shapes that you should look into.    Abby

Just know that your kids will probably turn out OK, in spite of the chaos.  One of my partners was widowed in her very early 30s, left with 3 kids.  They're teens now, and one graduated a year ago and is working, but still living at home.  A few bumps in the road, but the three are turning into responsible young adults.  It is amazing how resilient kids can be.  They should be able to handle your changes as well.

I've been transitioning now for eight months but have been wearing women's clothing for 2+ years. I am over weight and approaching my 72nd birthday. I have purchase my solid color clothing online and recently graduated to 'V' neck tops. I have been hesitant to get anything more girly due to family issues, though with my hair style I am able to totally pass when dressed in a skirt and blouse.   About two  months ago I finally went and got my nails done (which I truly which I had done long ago) though not red nor pink (again family issues). To date I don't think I am having problems with being trans unlike others seem to have. The biggest problem I am having is with my clothing. Any suggestions my girl friends might have would be greatly appreciated.   Cindy

Umm.... if a post is ignored, live with it?   My stuff gets ignored sometimes, and its OK.  My life is different, and may seem kind of wacky to others.  Some folks just can't relate, or if I'm needing advice they just don't have it.  Diversity is like that sometimes.  If your post gets missed, don't take it personally.  Also, stuff that is new on weekends seems to get ignored more, since most folks are busy with family or other stuff during that time.  Overall, I think people here are pretty helpful.

I'd really love a professional stove.  There's actually one I want at Lowes, but its like $6k.  I've got plenty of money, the issue is that I'm not the queen (king?) of my den.  Or even of the kitchen.  My partner (husband's wife #1) owns that territory, and she's very attached to what she's got.  One of our stoves has 6 burners and a large oven, the other has 4 burners and a regular household sized oven.  And of course, there's always the wood-burning equipment.    Today was interesting.  We had the first campaign fundraiser for our sheriff and my sister.  My sister is running to be constable of our township.  Pretty sure she'll win, as her opponent is an old dude who is mostly running on "Don't elect a woman for a man's job"    What's weird is our sheriff is running as a Democrat, but he's conservative.  And his Republican opponent sounds like a leftist.  Welcome to Upside-down-ville   And of course all the kids got the chance to sit in a sheriff's car, and play with the lights.   We had a barbecue lunch and a dessert auction.  I baked three apple pies for it, and I was shocked that they sold for $20 each, since my cooking isn't that great.  My partner made her famous "Chocotorta."  It's like a chocolate layer cake with cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, and it tastes amazing.  Usually we have it for Christmas and other really special occasions.  Two guys got into a bid war, and it sold for $175!!!    Yep, this is politics in the South.  Barbecue, pies, and police cars.  A great way to spend a Saturday

Yes. That report is part of a conspiracy to torture and murder trans people. It is a lie. It is evil.

It seems plain to me, that this thing is simply a cherry-picked excuse to persecute trans people - especially trans youth in the UK.  And it will also be used here in the states to legislate against trans care here as well.   The right wing has already made up their mind about us, and they are just looking for "evidence" to legislate against us.     Seems like if they were really for "freedom" as they claim, they would leave us alone to live in our personal "delusions".   I mean, I have no problem with cis people.  Some of my best friends are cis people.

I am so happy with Maybelline products. For my basic needs, I love their Magic Eraser. I used the app to dial in the best shade and it works great just -- even as a very light "foundation"
