When I refer to my country, I try to say The United States. America can be either North or South America which are of course comprised of many countries. It is readily accepted I guess when people say America they mean The United States. Plus I guess it is faster to say "Americans" instead of "the citizens of The United States of America".

I've got one.

Back when, a Southern public school board was debating whether they should offer foreign languages in the schools. A board member was quoted as saying, "Well, if English was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me!"

I recall hearing some guy ranting on the radio when I was in high school insisting that Jesus hated Jews. He wouldn't listen to the fact that he was born to Jewish people, and was called the king of the Jews.

It's like a radio show in Flint Michigan. The host and his cohort insist all the money problems we have in the country are due to Obama. Yet they wont listen when people point out we were in trouble before he ran for office. They were ranting how he was the one to bail out those banks, yet Bush was in office at the time

XD I'm literally laughing uncontrollably. That is really idiotic. Here is another one that I found:

"Chairman Obama is a liberal socialist communist cup cake islamo-fascist bent on getting power to rule over the American people."

Sorry for being so slow but I really don't get this one?

Well a sort of mix of ignorance - I may not have this exactly right but my take is:

'liberal - a sort of left of center - thought of taking care of ALL people to us US citizens - sometimes a bit socialistic but can be a strong part of capitalism as capitalism cannot stand alone

'socialist' - in the USA considered somewhat left of 'liberal' - tending toward most sevices needed for a quaility life to be provided by a cental government rather than by earned means - but limited to those who cannot provide for themselves - somewhat compatable with capitalism

communist - in theory, ALL resources and all work is combined in one pool - the pool is divided amoung all - but in practice, as a governmental function, usually a sort of rotating dictatorship with a strong cental contol committee - taking socialism to a more centalized extreme - NOT compatable with USA type capitalism but works in China

cup cake - A radical socialism where the government is all, people are secondary - the theory if you are loyal to the government, you will be taken care of - NOT particularly compatable with capitalism - and often a rival to communism as it often emphasises nationalisml superiority

'Islamo' - what us THIS??? Supposedly in this context it is something like 'religion dominated government' - which is not really liberal, or even usually very socialistic. It goes against communism which discounts religious rights in any form. Actually with the new USA emerging Fundamental Christian influence, being 'Islamo" might be like us being "Christian" or I suppose 'Christianian' or something strange like that.

Fascist? Somewhat a concept associated with the rise of cup cakeism in the 1930s - but somewhat limited to the Italian dictatorship at the time. Similar ideas of nationalism.

HA! AND This phrase left out the imperalistic Japanese forces, dominated my a strong cental military government with a hereditary Emperor/God.

So I guess as an example - the expression was like saying:

a pink, rose, red, green orange banana green thing - something that cannot exist in such a context!

Not exactly an oxymoron in the bunch - just a moron making the statement!

FUNNY that way! Kinda a 'duhhhh' way of thinking?

I once went on a date with a girl and it happened to be a couple of days before black friday. She said that she was so excited to actually get to shop on black friday because she always thought only black people were allowed to shop. She thought they would kick her out of the store. That was the first and last date with her and yes she did happen to be blonde lol.

this. probably the worst.

not to be insulting, but please learn about the branches of government first before even insinuating that bush or obama could have caused an economic downfall.

its mostly due to the fact that americans on average spend 1.25 $ to every 1 $ they make. and the reason is mostly because they don't keep track of income/purchases (mostly done through credit cards.) so this caused an inflammation in the markets due to the fact that all the computers were reading that they had more money than was actually being circulated. this all caused a ripple effect with wide ranging consequences that eventually caused a quick downfall of the stock markets.

I'm not being sarcastic. It's not an oxymoron.

cup cake = Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei

or National Socialist German Workers Party.

cup cake communist would be...

They were not socialists. Well, they were in the very beginning, but later on they moved on to pure fascism.

Hi @AmandaJoy Welcome, and nice to meet you! Congratulations on your Self-Affirmation!  As you've already discovered you're in great company here on this Forum.  It took me 60+ years also.   I understand your thrill and desire to proceed full-steam-ahead but that you've already realized to meter your Journey.  So, I will just end with what I tell most new Members when they arrive ... @KymmieL do they have you on anti depressants?  Are they certain they are the right ones for you?  Has a psychiatrist been involved?  My physician first put me on an anti depressant and when things got worse for me he added one that was the initial cause of my cancer.  My therapist recommended I had a different need changed things. My psychiatrist agreed with the particular underlying condition and the choice of medications.   everyone is different but if one medication isn’t working there are many different types and different underlying conditions that require different treatments.  No meds mentioned because what didn’t work and what did all depends on your case, not mine.   Willow

To me loving myself means having the courage to live the way I want and to be me.     I hardly ever really like how I look but I feel good knowing I am trying to be the best version of myself that I can be. It is definitely a struggle sometimes though.  💗Cynthia

I had a five hour road trip today.  I’m trying to grow my hair out so I just pushed it back with a pink hair band, lipstick and gloss, no makeup.    White spaghetti strap top, short black skirt, white sandals with pink toenails!  A couple of rings and bracelets, necklace and hoop earrings.   I felt like a hot mess but it’s my favorite way to travel!

Glad you had a good day, @Willow Mine on the other hand sucked. I have been screwing up again, I even got written up. I may have to educate them on major depression and disability. not that it will work.    OH, well. May be another job I lost because of me. Yes, my depression is about down at the magma level   Kym

This bag is really working out for me.  I had worn out the back on my yin-yang bag so I picked this one up.  It wasn't long before I cut off the flap on it and braided a hemp strap for it.  The zipper is the best feature.  I can spin the bag around and I'm not afraid of losing anything.  I've taught myself to keep all the essential things in it and nothing more.  Here is what made the cut:   Notepad Sharpie Ballpoint Pen Teaspoon Glasses Phone (most of the time) Wired Headphones and/or Bluetooth Carmex and/or Lipstick Flash Drive Current Braiding Project Wallet Hair Clip   And on my keys I have my one inch Swiss Army Knife with scissors and a bottle opener that I like using with mason jar lids.   I don't miss pockets at all now.  The bag is fun and practical.  I can set it on the ground to get everything off my body.  If I need something, I'm looking for a fairly large object.  I always have something to work on with the braiding project.

Mine was Hatshepsut, an Egyptian pharaoh who had to carry herself as a male in order to rule. I was completely facinated by her as a student.

Well it was a good day at work I got everything done I needed to do. My audits came out right and everything.  I had to fix the printer on one pump. It wouldn’t cut the paper and needed two parts replaced.  The District Manager left us Thank you bags,  Murphy Bucks and candy.  We can use Murphy bucks to buy things in the store, or pay for gas.  I guess next week the Area Manager will be around to check on things.  He would be the next layer higher.  Well my eyelids are starting to get heavy, time for a nap.thats the only thing about opening the store it definitely causes me to need a nap.

Interesting point. I was raised Catholic and was intensely intrigued by the lives of saints. Similar to your obsession with Mulan, I was particularly drawn to Joan of Arc, a 15th century saint who took on the guise of a man to lead the French army to victory over the English in the Hundred Years' War. Later, she was sold out by the Burgundians to the English who brought multiple charges against her as a heretic, including claiming she could communicate directly with God (which undermined the church's authority), and wearing men's clothes. At one point, while imprisoned, she was made to dress in women's clothes, which she did, but was later found again in men's attire which she said she preferred. She was eventually burnt at the stake at age 19. Rather gruesome tale, but not atypical of the stories of Catholic martyrs.

I just read something a FB friend posted about guilt.  I am changing it somewhat for here.   There are things you should not feel guilty about because they are not wrong.  Being transgender is one. People like to send us on guilt-trips about it, intentionally or unintentionally.   There are things you have actual guilt about whether you feel guilty or not.  If you murder someone, you may not feel any guilt.   The FEELING of guilt can be widely separated from objective guilt. All of us need to train ourselves to not feel guilty about things we are not guilty of,, and to feel guilty about the things we are guilty of.  It is not easy.
