Hi, my name is Mel and I thought I'd try and find a bit of support/info after my beloved husband of some years kind of came out. I don't know quite how much info I'm meant to put in here, but very simply, we went away for a weekend and he came into the bathroom of the hotel to bring me a glass of wine in the bath and was wearing my high heels.

I was a bit stunned but even weirder, it all seemed very natural - I told him he could try the skirt I had for that night if he wanted, and he looked so happy it didn't occur to me to be worried about it.

When we came home he was a bit funny, not wanting to talk about it - said he was worried about being a 'weirdo'. I think he's frightened it will get out of hand somehow.

But I think we're getting used to the idea and he's talking about maybe going away for another weekend and being 'girls together' for the whole time. I wanted to get him some pretty knickers in his size (he's borrowing mine but they are too small) for christmas but I was worried he'd think I was being too pushy.

It's difficult to know what to do for the best and so I thought I'd talk to some folk who've been there...so here I am. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hi Mel,

I was in his place at one time, it was hard to be two different people and trying to keep it a secret from your wife. I had to tell her. I found that she tried to understand, instead of the fear I found relief. We work through this time and became closer friends. Mel, he needs someone that will listen to him when he feels ready to talk. You have come to the right place, Laura and everybody here are very understanding and are willing to help at any time. With all the activity of christmas, things have been put on hold for a bit, and I didn't get him the knickers in the end - but I did put together a little bag of cosmetics, very simple and natural.

We haven't had a long talk and I haven't pushed, but we have mentioned it in conversation so I'm hoping things will develop naturally at his pace.

I don't know if he is a crossdresser or a trans - I told him it didn't matter to me. He has talked about gender confusion in his past...so we shall see.
