Hi, Steph, and welcome to Laura's. It may be late, but I still have some hot cocoa and a batch of Momma Sally's cookies here for you,

so relax and have a seat in the Member's Lounge.

There is a lot to transitioning, so take your time and look around the forums and educate yourself with all the wonderful information

from our members. You will find many with stories like yours.

We are a supportive family, and we take care of each other and protect each other. That's also why Moderators like me preview posts

to keep the site safe for our teens and everyone else.

Please post your questions and thoughts and opinions in any forum you wish, have fun and make friends.

Ever since I was young I wanted to be a girl but I was born a boy. I have always been into men and been into dressing as a woman off and on for the last 30 years and when I stop dressing as a woman I start to feel off. I have been married before and I was able to get my ex to understand that I was into womens cloths and into men which she was okay with since she was bi. Over time she started to get tired of my likes so she left and well once again I was alone. I have friends which are okay with what I want but have been disowned by my family. I am looking to get surgery to move my transformation in gear but due to the economy I can't afford to just live as a woman for a year and work my way in to society. My theory is start the procedures and then when I can afford to breakaway from my job do so and finish the transition. Am I going about this all wrong my therapist thinks so?

Hello Steph,

I'm Momma Sally, well really it is just Sally but partially due to my age (58) and mostly due to my maternal nature toward so many of my 'adopted children' here in the playground I have been given the affectionate name of Momma Sally even to some of my friends who are older than myself.

I am always here for you - just leave a message and as soon as I get to my computer I will get back to you.

I do not know how much transition your are talking about doing and how quickly but several of us here on the site are on hormones and still working as male until it reaches the point where we can no longer - one has been on here HRT for over a year now and somehow manages to get by (how I have no idea, I've seen here in person and I can't see a man).

So I would suggest checking into the HRT (I am doing mine through a GLBT center and WalMart pharmacy and the cost is very low - under $40 a month) and starting there while working as male then while saving up your money get ready for the RLT and if you can get together the surgical costs by the end of that year - why are you worrying about money in the first place? :)

Seriously, surgery is 'down the road' for all of us, there is a good reason for the slowness of transitioning - jumping into it, while we all want to is not a good option we need time to adjust to all of the changes that are taking place both physical and the falling away of all of those layers of male mindset that we have wrapped ourselves in for so long.

So slow dow, take a deep breath and just relax, transitioning is a journey not a race, take your time and enjoy the changes as they occur and revel in your womanhood as it develops, savor every moment - you are on a journey of self discovery that so few will ever take - we are the Gender Gifted.

Welcome to the family.

Love ya,

Sally

Thank you Sally. I will slow down with my thoughts I just get tired of waiting since I should of been born a girl. Right now my therapist is not ready to sign off on any treatment because she believes I am not ready. She believes that if I am unable to live as a woman and let everyone know then she will not let me move on. Your right it would take me years to come up with the money for the surgery so once again I will take a deep breath and slow down. I have another appointment with a different therapist to see what she thinks. Thanks again for putting me in check.

Hello Steph,

Your so welcome hun, come on in and take your shoes off, Oh I love that, soooo comfy . You know, you can get a lot of preparation work

done with the advice you will get here in our Garden, diet and exercise / confidence building and lots more . And you get all that free , all you got to

do is post and read . You will start to pick up so much info re your journey. About the economy, I keep a weather eye on world events

and the general consensus is we are out of the worst of the downturn, so, say in a year things will be so much better re jobs etc. So hun , the future is

a lot brighter. And you will reach your goal . Luv, viv. :)

People who are out publicly, and openly transgender, maybe on HRT, having changed names and gender, have a lot to lose if anti-trans politicians take power.  They have openly called for our eradication, and promise to do everything they can to accomplish this.  (again, 2025) For someone in this position the election is about our survival.  It's foolish to delude ourselves into thinking "Oh, they don't really mean that.  It's all for show," or, "There's other more important things to concern ourselves with." Maybe for some people the other things take priority.  But if you have skin in the game, things look different.

If that happens, a lot of things I don't want to see might also be codified into law.  And some things that shouldn't be law might not get repealed.  To me, progress in one area isn't worth the price we'd have to pay in several other areas.     For me, voting on LGBTQ issues always ends up as an "out of the frying pan, but into the fire" sort of event.

Trying out a new wig. Got my reading glasses on. I've also got dark roots now - first time in years.

Thea, your post made me think of a comic named Chloe Petts whom I saw recently on Hannah Gadsby's Gender Agenda comedy special on Netflix. She is a cisgender masculine lesbian. She is brilliant and so funny. I was intrigued by her identification - specifically masculine, not butch. And it seems to me there is a difference.

Today I had a dr appt. When I checked in, I was asked my surname, which I gave. Apparently there were two patients with appointments at that time with that same surname. The receptionist asked, "Are you (my legal name which is feminine) or Paul?" I got such a kick out of it not being assumed I had the feminine name.

That must have felt affirming, albeit perhaps weirdly so. However, I'd construe that more broadly (no pun intended) as sexism rather than misogyny where the latter would imply contempt. Also, incidentally, I've heard chivalry referred to as "benevolent sexism".

My boss is in a panic. His business is a couple straws away from breaking a camel in half. He's just handling the stress very poorly.   My dad, though. He's handling things pretty well, as long as I continue to don't get massively offended by being called: son, boy, etc. His eldest is leaving the State and looks so different than he's been used to over the years. I haven't told him I'm on HRT, but to be fair the changes haven't been massive. I've always had boobs, more so after COVID weight gain and made more obvious with its loss, but now I'm not hiding them--and obviously wearing a bra. The estrogen has done some work, but nothing major (sadly). I think the biggest HRT changes have been my skin and a mild amount of fat redistribution.   Today I'm wearing my cheater, I almost have cleavage! :D I need to get another t-shirt bra to keep a good rotation. I only have two, one push-up, and the rest are unlined (great for Summer, but not great for my Summer wardrobe ).

I eat a ketogenic diet and have had no problems. I don't know about your case but I suspect it is the estrogen. Research the types of ways to take estrogen. Pay close attention to the bloodwork results. If they are not satisfactory, bring it up with your doctor. I take injectables, which are fully covered by insurance. It may not be the route for you, but something to consider. I emphasize to do your research and good luck. You can solve this. Be persistent.    Jennifer

I'm in a magenta blouse under a baby blue buttoned cardigan - still a little cool here in the northeast today - with dark blue jeans. Oh, and my favorite flame colored copper feather earrings.

White crop top and capri jeans ;) Finaly tricked the face id on my phone, "that's not you" lol.

This is my opinion, so take it for that. Fatigue is based more on what you eat. Eat a more healthy diet, and stay away from ultra-processed foods and that should help. Think of eating the way we did a couple hundred years ago before the industrial revolution. It's just a thought.   Jennifer

Welcome back, Jennifer! As a relative newbie to the forum and to transition, I look forward to getting to know you and share in your experiences.
