A Day At The Salon

Yesterday,

I finally talked my best girl into getting her hair done.

I had been after her for the last six months to get that quality girl time.

That we went together made it special for us both.At last Susan got to

experience a day at the beauty shop. The shop is owned by another of

our sisters and my stylist is a trans woman too.Susan got to see what it

is like to sit in a room full of nothing but women, while being welcomed

as but another of their valued clients.(Yeah!)Susan freaked that it about

takes a day to have all the girly things we wanted done.I know she sure

loved the experience and said she will be going back with me again. It's

about dang time is all I can say,for her to enjoy the benefits of being an

attractive woman.I love this woman and so happy we are growing together,

our shared life experiences are ever expanding.Life is good when you have

a dear friend to share it with,UmmHmm.

Love and Hugs,

Angie

Oh Angie,

You hurt me deep with this one. :P You see, I have serious hair problems and I don't mean split ends...

I mean large areas of naked scalp where once vast fields of healthy stalks stood proudly, waving in the breeze. I can only dream of a day like you described. I understand that there are special hormones that may make this possible one day and I'll be finding out more specifics soon, I hope.

For now, I don't expect dropping off a wig to have it styled will bring the same joy and satisfaction.....

You go girl, for all I can do now is live my life vicariously through you and, no offense, but it just isn't quite the same.

May your ends never split and your tangles never stay,

Your loving, if somewhat envious, sister,

Yvonne

Angie, I'm happy for you that you and your girlfriend got to spend quality time together and have fun.

Good for both of you. :)

I'm in the same boat as Yvonne hair wise, but I hope that some Rogain might help in that area.

I'm willing to give it a try, anyway. But I want to get my eyebrows waxed, at least. ;)

That's great Angie! :D I actually am trying to plan a little 'becoming an adult' getaway with my 2 best girl friends to a spa in January for my 18th birthday. But no one can tell them. It's still a secret. ;) They just know I have something really special planned for the 3 of us.

Hey girls you know what?

I was right at where you are,two and a half years ago.

I am still thin in the widows peak, but it sure doesn't get

in my way of facing life without a wig.Susan had her hair

transplants done,5,700 dollars worth back in May.And while

I am a tad envious of her steadily filling in full head of hair,

it sure doesn't get in my way,or affect my confidence any.

I just learned to style it in a way to make what I lack less noticable.

And it was my sweet loving daughters that made a point to tell

me,''Because of you we started paying attention to the hair on

other women.Lots of women have less hair then you do Daddy."

Those simple words of encouragement gave me the incentive to

keep stepping out my door with my natural hair.

Finasteride not only knocks down your DHT,it will steadily fill in your hair.

But as usual,it is with great patience that we slowly see the results.

Hugs,

Angie

Angelique, thanks so much for the encouraging words. That's something I really needed to hear.

I decided that my bi-monthly appointments at the barber have ended and I'm going to start

letting my hair grow out. It will take months before anyone notices anything anyway, and if they

do, so what?

I like my wig just fine, but I like my hair even better. As long as I've got enough to style in a few

months, that will do just fine. I'm never going to look like my idol, Robin Meade, anyway. LOL

Angie Sweetie , I understand about prefering a salon over a barbershop. I have a friend who is a hairstylist and does a great job . i also have a gay male friend (Who I feel ) is a brother who works there do my hair. The conversation is so much more enjoyable .LOL Brenda Lee

Brenda Lee,

That's funny. I've never thought about this until right now. I've gone to women's hair salons forever to get my hair cut. A few years ago, my longtime girl hairstylist retired and I started going to a barber shop. The cuts were great, but I felt really out of place with the men and this was before my great acceptance. I never felt right in there and guess I must have blamed it on the guys or something.

About a year ago, I found another salon and a girl who's great and I've been going there ever since. I feel so much more at home there. Wow, now there's a whack in the head for you. NOW I know why I went back to the salon...... Well, duh!

It's a girl place.....

Well that sounds like such a fun day Angie. So happy for you and Susan.

as for general hair, i've always gone to a barber and have had the same hair cute for 27 years. Yes, my entire life! But right now I have to stick with a wig (which i love), for work reasons...and because I don't know where to go or what to do with my hair

Have gone to the barber, same shop for many years. I stopped several months ago - am letting it grow out. Trying to make up in length what I lack in coverage I guess. Darn old male pattern - what causes that anyway! I look forward to visiting a real salon sometime. Other than my wife, I just have no "girlfriend" to make an excursion with. Currently I have no known gender-role friendly shop in mind. Actually, how would you find one anyway? If someone offers that service to our community, they should be supported.
