Victoria's Secret Catalog

I had a epiphany today. I stopped to pick up the mail at the post office and the new Victoria's Secret catalog was in with the other mail. As I was about to toss it I saw a cute pajama set on the cover. Instead of tossing it I held on to it to take a better look later.

As I was driving away, it occurred to me for the first time exactly "how" I was seeing the catalog. Instead of seeing the women in the picture, I was seeing the clothes! It was rather like looking at a picture of some shapes on a paper, and when you hold them at the correct distance, it resolves into a picture that is easily recognized and you can't figure out how you missed it at first glance.

To be fair, the women in the catalog ARE beautiful, but the clothes are the real attraction now. Once I let go of the guilt, and realize I am not being a bad person for following my desire to dress, things are a lot easier to deal with. I'm sure as I follow the road I'm on there will be even more to discover about myself, as we all should. I'm a great parent, a great dad, and I'm okay with myself. I keep it from my son, and probably always will, but what I do is okay and it doesn't hurt anyone. The only person that was hurt was me for being hard on myself for what I wanted...to dress.

All this introspection just from a catalog, go figure.

Now I can enjoy the VS mag again, for different reasons. I just wish I had more to spend because that catalog has some AWESOME stuff!

OH how I want that Turtleneck Sweater Dress!

Hugs!

Indeed Alissa :)

The day does come when you no longer view clothes in the VS catalogue for example as women's clothes. You see them as your clothes. For me, that was a major turning point for me. One day, I realized that all of my "women's" clothing was my clothing. My dresses, my pants, my shorts, my blouses, my skirts, my shoes were all my clothes. My true gender. My true self :)

Alissa, clothes are the tools CDers use to allow the woman within to express herself. They can be an erotic turn on for some, but not for all.

Some like just undergarments, some leather or lace, some fetish wear. The why doesn't really matter, just that it makes us feel complete

and at peace with ourselves, and gives us the chance to be the person we see ourselves as, even if just for a while.

Being allowed to express your inner woman is nothing to be ashamed of or feel guilty about. So I'm glad you feel good about yourself.

Now enjoy the catalog. Happy shopping, Hon.

I used to love VS catalogues, and while I got into cross dressing I not only liked looking at the hot women but also their clothes. I wish I could go back in time and buy some of the older styles because I think the newer stuff kinda stinks.

I feel exactly the same way when the Womanwithin catalog arrives, I might comment to myself as to how a model looks in an outfit. In general its like looking through any catalog all i see are the items, comments like "Ooo thats cute" or "not really", and most importantly "Do they have it in my size" sith woman within (sizes 12 to 40w including talls and petites) the size question is answered with yes ususally, except for shoes :(

I agree with this statement, and now I have bought 2 sweater dresses from them. I just love them so much, I slept in one last night.

They have satin pajamas that I just love. If I don't get them for Xmas, I'm going to gift myself. :D

I love the catalogs my wife receives, I'm always shopping in them! There's even a slutty clothes catalog that a send signed her up for years ago -- mmm, low-cut this, and high-slit that! I look longingly through her jewelry catalogs too - Ross-Simons (too expensive!!), wow!!

Ah yes, the Victoria's Secret catalogs. Oh, and for the post-teen in us, ;) there is Boston Proper. My younger daughter, 26, refuses to look at that one, and the older, 30, peeks at it, but won't admit it.

Sad thing is, I can by squeezing and sucking in, still fit a 10 (with a 9 or 9 1/2 shoe), but I'm getting too old to be looking at either catalog. Find me a nice roomy flower print shift, orthopedic supports (and hose) and put me out to pasture. <Sigh...sigh...sigh>

ps I had been entralled by Adriana Lima (Brazilian) the very, very sultry model who was as virginal as they come, but she is married (some NBA player) and has a kid. I'm now entralled by Candice Swanepoel (South African), the new blond that is now the face of VS.

Yay! I really love the VS catalog too, and am happy to receive them in the mail. I have a joke about how cd's look at these catalogs that goes over very well :)

In catalogues, or in real life, I look at the clothes that women wear, rather than the women who wear them. One of my favorite outings is when my wife takes me to her holiday party at work. While she is socializing with her co-workers, I get to sit back and watch all the party dresses out on the dance floor, or just coming and going. Someone else might get bored at such an event, but I have a blast, AND my wife appeciates how I will go along with her and never complain. There really is a good side to being a CD.

Let me clear something up here. I love looking at the catalogs, I love looking at the models. I wonder if they're thinking, this fits really nice and looks good, or 'wow, is this a terrible fit, and ugggggggly, thank goodness I don't have to wear it.' Considering some of the things I've bought and/or tried on, I can imagine that!

But I also look at their makeup, their hair styles, how the clothes they are wearing look on them, how they would look on someone with vastly different weight and dimensions, wonder about their lifestyles.

And imagine how I would be if I looked like that. One can dream, right? And I can't ever remember thinking about any of them in a lustful, desirous (read hetero) way.

But there's nothing wrong with that either.

Woke up early to prepare Mexican food for lunch as I had a friend coming over, but he forgot today is mother's day and cancelled.    Looks like I'll be eating Mexican food for dinner tonight.

My condolences to the people of WA.  A huge warning about that type of politician though, those who broadcast the Anti-Trans message rarely if ever attend to any important legislative issues to benefit their constituency.  They are mostly single trick dogs, whose trick is to empty their food bowl and whine for more food.

This stuff seems to be the major talking point for "conservatives" these days.  Just shows that they don't know what they're talking about, and don't particularly care.

Mother's Day, so I thought I'd do the right thing and cook. So, we got Chinese takeaway! 😆   Actually, we planned it days ago, just thinking that tonight we would treat ourselves. Complete with a lovely bottle of Cab Sav.

Exactly.   A plain old "Good morning" should always suffice, for example, whether the recipient expects a gender specific greeting or not.

Hi awkward yet sweet, yeah, I tried dumping her but my current health insurance keeps directing me back to her as my primary, yet there are other doctors to choose from, but they are far away.

Hi Birdie, I can relate to that.

This sort of stuff makes my blood boil. A prospective state politician has gained approval from his party's state council to run in their state election next year.   He once stated that the + part of LGBTQIA+ is where pedophiles are categorized.   For clarity, in Australia the Liberal party is our main conservative party. They have lurched further to the right over the past 10 years or so. Our main progressive, union backed party is Labor.   WA Liberal party approves Dr Thomas Brough, candidate who linked LGBTQIA+ community with paedophiles - ABC News

Happy Mother’s Day    I have to be at church earlier than normal for a mic check.  I have been going over what I am to say, both silently reading and reading it aloud.  My concern is that my voice will freeze as it sometimes does.     I felt I was honored very highly yesterday by my minister and supporter on my journey.  He and another minister are Standing together to become the next co-moderators of the Presbyterian Church (USA).  They included me to receive an advance copy of their initial submission.  I was one of only 6 people listed on the email to receive this.  Later this week it will go out to all the voting commissioners that will be in Salt Lake City for the meeting.  I have asked to be allowed to attend the meeting to support him and Rev CeeCee Armstrong, whom he is standing with.    We’ll time to get ready .   Willow

Nup. Not an option. You need to keep going and keep us all in the loop, and we need to keep seeing your beautiful smile!   Party, schmarty. I'm 61 and haven't had a birthday party since I was 30. Even that was just a crummy meal at the pub with a few friends who we have since lost contact with. Don't sweat it.

On behalf of everyone reading your entries here @Sally Stone, THANK YOU for creating such an informative thread. But there is one thing you might have neglected to say at the end, and that is, "And they all lived happily ever after!" ❤️   Reno sounds like a pretty good place to call home. I understand the attraction of living in a place that is not too big but not too small.   I look forward to reading your subsequent posts about specific aspects of your journey.

Hi and welcome. A few things...   1. You're right, you can't trust your friends w/r/t the question of passing. How would they even know if you pass or not? My sister used to do the same thing, telling me that no-one knew I was trans and that to her I just looked like a cis woman. I still don't know if she was serious or just trying to make me feel good, but I learned to not listen to her on that topic.   2. Buuuut, having said that, I thought I looked good, and I think that is all she was really trying to tell me, that she liked how I looked as a woman. Maybe this is obvious, but I feel it gets overlooked: passing and looking good are not the same thing, not even remotely. Your friends (I presume) are trying to tell you that you look good as you are.   3. Having said all that, I think non-passing transmascs have a harder time than us non-passing transfemmes. All I have to do to get gendered correctly 95% of the time is wear a dress and makeup and only a few seriously ignorant folks and diehard transphobes misgender me. For you, it's much harder to find signifiers powerful enough to send the same message.   So in short, I don't have any answers, except that you're right, it sucks, and I hope the situation improves over time. But passing isn't everything. Maybe you're right, and in a less conservative state it wouldn't happen so often, because you'd have more people like you surrounding you. I know that where I chose to live while transitioning has been a big part of making the process a positive experience. I'd hate to be in Texas atm.
