X-mas Makeup Mirrors

I was at Wal-Mart earlier today, and I asked a gay manager (he's worked there for years) where the makeup mirrors that magnified your reflection were located. He then led me to the "accessories" isle and presented me with some $4 dollar mirror that DID magnify, but it wasn't what I was looking for.

So I then said, "Oh, that's not it. I'm looking for the kind that my ex-wife has, where you plug it in and it has the lights down the sides?" He then said, "Oh okay, you're just a little early for that. We only get those at X-mas time, and they should be here in another week or two." And I said, "Wow, I guess I know what I'm getting myself for X-mas, then." To which he said, "There ya go!"

He said that they'll be in a special area of the store where holiday seasonal items will be on display, and that they are "seasonal" because they're considered gift items.

Sooo, I figured some of you gals are like me and find it a little difficult to put on makeup with your reading glasses on, and that you would also want to get yourself a self-lighting makeup mirror with a magnified reflection (the mirror on the reverse side is regular). 'Tis to the season to get it, don't miss it or you'll have to wait another year.

I'm also pretty sure that you girls know a teenage girl who is also just starting to wear makeup that would remember you and love ya forever for getting that for her this X-mas. :)

Oh Rachel,

Thanks for the tip. I'll also be on the lookout for a little makeup case for travel. My wife has one and, when I tried to buy one, they said they're also considered a gift item and generally only show up around Christmas, as well. (Unless anyone has a tip where I can get one sooner).

If you're going to suggest a small tackle box, nice try...

Whut's wrong with that?

You can get camo and it has all of those neat little holders...

Seriously...you might look at Sally's (national chain)...

Heeey, I've got one of those about five miles from me. If I go there, I better leave my checkbook at home, though....

Bed Bath and Beyond, if you have one near you has a whole section of mirrors, lighted and not lighted, i got a 10x on one side and regular mirror on the other and both sides are lighted, not sure of the price but i had a 20% off coupon.

Thanks, Paula, I'm going there to look at magnified makeup mirrors first. I would think they'd have a better selection than "Wally World" since they have the mirrors year-round.

I must live in the PERFECT city for shopping; Bed, Bath and Beyond is not much more than five miles away. My Goddess, when the hormones kick in, I'm gonna have to hide my checkbook from myself! :D

viv,

The best place to get stuff like that for a bargain is "estate sales". In my state newspaper, every Friday, there's a section in the classifieds that names when and where the estate sales for the weekend are going to be in our city. And most estates sales have high quality stuff that some upper-class person doesn't need anymore 'cause they've gone on to the afterlife. I bet you could find a nice semi-antique vanity dresser at an estate sale, and if nothing else, those sales are really fun to go to and see all the neat stuff that helped to define a person's life before they left this world.

Hey Dee Jay,

Thanks for sending the business to Sally's - but I don't own that business.

For some the tackle box is a little small, have you considered one of the Craftsmen Master Mechanic tool boxes, it may take two girls to lift it but is has so many tiny compartments for small items like screws and things - but they are just great for sample perfume vials, single eye shadows, lip sticks, mascara oh so organized, maybe it would be hard getting a metal case through airport security but once three bell hops have placed it on your hotel's dresser, you will be ready to look fabulous!

Seriously, girls this is the time of year of the gift sets!

Look around in the fragrance and makeup sections because right now when you buy some products they will include a 'gift' and so many of them will be lighted make up mirrors or small makeup bags.

Have a wonderful shopping Holiday Season,

Love ya,

Sally

My makeup mirror for my purse is an english antique with an floral enamel facing.

That is all I need, plus it came from a lady I love with all my heart, and she in the act

of moving onto the next plane of existence. So I cherish this mirror and don't need another.

that's lovely Angie, usually the memories that go along with the objects we have are more important than the objects themselves.

I need a mirror...but I also need make up. Then I can proceed to figure out how it works...that will be good for a laugh :P

happy trans birthday! I can't speak personally on the subject, but I hope hormones bring you the changes you're looking for <3

That’s super healthy, to see that something that becomes common has less effect on you and that you are able to decipher these feelings.   Sadly, this trend tends to only deaden good feelings as we tend not to let bad feelings attenuate the same way.   I have noticed less euphoria, but still feel the dysphorias that I have. Sometimes the good sneaks in and reminds me, but often time it’s just me seeing myself in the mirror and being comfortable about what I see when embracing my realized self. I may not get the same buzz I once did, but I don’t feel incongruous when looking at a more “drab” reflection.    Wishing you strength, you are amazing!

Congratulations! and Happy Trans Birthday @LittleSam! That is such a BIG milestone.  I can still remember walking out of my clinic with my first HRT presciption.  I was on Cloud-9.  Wishing you all the best in the start of your new Journey!

maebe thank you I try to be. I thank God for blessings, try to share them, beg forgiveness for my shortcomings n vow to try to do better...2 priests have said no, God doesn't condemn you just for being trans...but apparently evangelicals do   I shall vtry dear thank you
    • MaeBe
Meet him at the being good to others part of Christianity. At the heart of it, there are excellent tenets of the faith. Those that condemn are judging, Jesus would have us be selfless; stone casting and all that. Are you a good person? Are you putting good into the world? If your gender is an issue for God, let God judge. In the mortal realm, let your actions be heard.

and just fi sweeten it..I'm catholic n he hasn't been for years..he's evangelical..whatever that is

Let’s stick to cite-able fact. Most of my posts have been directly in relation to LGBTQ+ rights as it pertains to P2025 and I have drawn direct links between people, their quotes, and their agenda. I have made reference to the cronyism that P2025 would entail as well, by gutting, not cutting, broad swathes of government and replacing it with “conservative warriors” (I can get you the direct quote, but rest assured it’s a quote). All this does is constantly force the cogs to be refitted, not their movement. To say that agencies have directly defied a President is a bit much, the EPA did what Trump told them to do at the direct harm to the environment, the department of agriculture did the same by enacting the administrations forced move to KC which decimated the USDA.      How about Betsy DeVoss for Education? Or Bannon for anything? What about the revolving Chief of Staff position that Trump couldn’t stay filled? Or the Postmaster General, who did much to make the USPS worse?   Let’s not mix politics with racism, sexism, or any other ism. Because Trump made mainly white, male, appointments—many of them not, arguably, people fit for service—or unwilling to commit to term. I can argue this because, again, he’s up for election and will do what he did before (and more of the same, his words).   Please delineate how the selected diversity appointments have negatively affected the US, other than being black, women, or queer? Representation matters and America benefits when its people are inspired and empowered.
