Life Goes On, Don’t Ask Why

Whenever something really bad happens and you lose a friend

Someone always comes up to you and says this is not the end

I always wonder and really want to ask

If this is not the end then what is my task

I thought that my purpose was to share my love and joy

But somehow I never seem to be able to please the boy

I have lost loves in both genders at one time just girls

Now it is boys no way to control how my heart unfurls

So those many holidays have arrived again

With all of the reminders of my lost friend

I sent him a message I don’t know if he will read

Saying goodbye and never expressing my need

I wished him a happy holidays and told him I would never forget

I did not tell him how much I miss him and that is my big regret

I have now loved and been rejected in both genders

Leaving a burning in my heart feeling like dying embers

I fear this time that when the terrible burning finally ceases

There will be nothing left of my heart but scars and creases

Nothing left to offer to anyone

And when all is said and done

I will end my life as I have lived it so long

In quiet desperation and oh so very alone

Just a look into what the holidays make us feel when we are alone, if you have a love in your life cherish it for it is a treasure beyond price.

Sally, my heart goes out to you.

Poetry is a salve for the soul, and you use it well. I know it helps you to put it out there.

Life is full of surprises, Sally. Things can and do change on a dime. Keep your hope alive,

sweet sister. Hope is all we have sometimes, and it is a fire that needs to be stoked all the

time or it will go out.

You have family here, and while we cannot replace the love you have lost, we'll do the

best we can to fill the void.

Dearest Sally,

Most of my existence now is complete isolation from all people. I know the feeling of rejection and feeling inadequate. The seemingly inescapable haunting feeling that somehow I do not deserve love.

I try not to give up hope as I continue to live each and everyday. What gives me joy is seeing you here at Laura's.

We may not have anyone in our lives outside of Laura's, but we do have each other.
