OK just my day today for a bit.

I went to hospital to talk to the plastic surgeon because I have this spot on my chin I want gone (it's a hereditary FEMALE thing in our family AND it's UG-LY).

I had to get my hospital-membership first, so to speak (the form/card).

Did I dare ask? I dared asked. If she could, ehm, change the first name and the gender marker.

Didn't get any funny looks. She tried, but it wasn't technically possible. Bummer. But not a surprise so I... took it like a man. :P.

I sat in the waiting room and this girl was eyeing me up as if I was a freak (OK - I've been eyed up like that for as long as I can remember, whether I try to look female, male, a porcupine, or nothing in praticular - same results). I don't think I'll ever find out just why people look at me that way.

Just me sitting there thinking darn it they'll call for Ms. X and that'll blow my IwishIhada cover.

And so happened. The doctor walked in and went "Ms X." So I got up. He looked a bit... confused. Checked the paper.

I just hoped he was confuzzled cuz he was seeing a guy get up iso a girl. Fingers crossed, I've no idea.

I got an appointment for Jan. 12. It's a minor thing, 5 minutes, but it feels like a miniminimini part of transition cuz of the females-only thing.

Good luck Alexander on the 12th.

It might only be a five minute operation but the importance to you of having your spot removed has way more significance as you deem it a gender marker.

In a way the procedure will be symbolic for your transition.

Well, Alex, it's unfortunate that you had to go through all that anxiety for a routine office visit, but in the end

it will be worthwhile. Being in uncomfortable situations seems par for the course for all of us TS folks.

I hope after the surgery no one will mistake you for a porcupine any more. :)
