I dunno how to put what i am thinking into words but im gonna try

Ive never had a problem passing so long as i shave (which i make a point to do 5 minutes before i ever go out so its as smooth as it can be :P)

and i started using the ladys bathrooms in public places and passing fine in their too, which is handy coz i often need to touch up my make up lol

but i suddenly feel strange... like i know im a girl and everyone HERE knows im a girl, all my friends and family know im a girl but i cant help but feel like using the womans toilets is like... well like not... good? lol

what im trying to say is, its ok for us to use the bathroom of your TRUE gender before things like hrt and srs right?

I just need reassuring i guess :P

Lots of love

Ash

p.s... even if it probably wasnt a bad idea, i would still do it. mens bathrooms are just disgusting... lol

I am not sure about the laws on this over there. I know some places you could get in trouble for doing that if you were caught. I don't think it's a bad idea but maybe you should research bathroom-related laws in your area.

If you pass well, odds are you shouldn't get caught and it shouldn't be a problem. But it's better to be safe than sorry.

I have a letter from my therapist that should help if anyone were to get agitated.

It won't save you from embarrassment so passing in the ladies room is very important.

Love ya,

Sally

I also have a letter from my therapist (Carry Letter)...

I've never been called on the carpet when I use the ladie's room, though.

And you are so right...most men's rooms are disgusting! YUCK!

HUGGS!

Hi Ash,

At the end of the day its all about passing hun.

The ladies room is a much more private """space""

than the guys is. (not trying to start anything here)

You said it yourself,,you touch up your makeup

and so on there so privacy is all important,,in

the strictest sense. Looking at your little photo,

your ok Ash, best of luck, luv,viv :)

My therapist gave me advice on this:

If you look female DON"T go into the men's room! It could be dangerous. She said something else that styed with me, "There are no panty checks when you are transsexual."

Hope that helped

I'm on the fence about which bathrooms are cleaner. I've been in some gross men's rooms but I've also been in some equally gross women's rooms.

But to the question at hand: if you're looking the part and acting the part, using the ladies room should be automatic.

I would hate to even think what could happen to you if you were to use the men's room. Even if you were not molested or worse, someone very possibly could call the authorities (mall cop, security guard, police, whatever) after seeing a female go into the public men's room. I agree with everyone who says get a carry letter if it's bothering you. Relax! Don't act nervous, unless you have to really pee bad !

I was clocked in Penney's the week before Christmas. I have been using the ladies room for months when I am in public presenting female so I was actually a bit taken back when the manager stopped me on the way out. She was polite, called me maam and said something about me making the other customers uncomfortable. She asked if I would use the family restroom next time. I said Sure, smiled, wished her a Merry Christmas and went about my shopping.

I don't start HRT for a couple more weeks, but in 75+ hours presenting as female in public, this was only the second time I have been clocked. I would never even think of making a fuss or showing my Carry Letter for something so trivial. But I can't even imagine using the men's room presenting as a female.

That has to be one of the best ways to handle a situation like that from a managerial standpoint.

She acknowledged you with correct pronouns, she conveyed that she knew you were TS but didn't make a big deal out of it and offered a fair compromise. I mean sure it's the family restroom but... at least it's not the men's.

I say use which ever bathroom you want to use. Looking at your picture you should not be afraid of using the womens bathroom. I think you pass well enough that nobody will say anything in fear of embarrasment if they were to be wrong.

Love,

Sarah F

Welcome to TransPulseForums @gizgizgizzie    I hope you find this place as helpful as I do. I’m also in a slow transition living in the androgynous world. I’m out to my grown children and my extended family with mixed support from them. Some have cut me out of their lives and others want me to be their flamboyant family member.    Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!

True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.

Hello & welcome, giz! Your post makes me remember how excited I was to join here too. I also had queer friends at the time I joined, but any of my trans friends lived a long distance away. So most local queer friends are gay & I felt uncomfortable coming out to them bc I couldn't assume they'd understand genderqueerness. So it was a thrill to join here and immediately have access to do many wonderful, genuine, kind & thoughtful friends-to-be.   Are you saying you're concerned that if you come out to your queer friends that somehow your parents will find out?     My love, I just want to affirm that that's not a weird dysphoria. It's just dysphoria. And we definitely get it. You're in good company here!     Look forward to seeing you around here & getting to know you. I shoot for androgynous appearance as well, leaning towards masculine.   Hope you're having a splendid day!

Listening to a YouTube mix for me and this song came up and I immediately fell in love again and just want to play music with like minded musicians playing OUR music and feel the joy and fulfillment even if no one else gets it. I love to fall into the music....
