Perfume

Well I was thinking about buying some perfume, but I have no idea on what is out there or where to find it. Now I know the department stores have perfume but it's usually in a box that can't be opened unless you totally destroy the packageing, so there is no way to sample it.

I was wondering what types of perfume the ladies here like and of coarse we can't forget our gentlemen, what type do you like on your special someone.

I'm personally hoping to find something that has a light and natural scent within an affordable price range.

Thanks for your suggestions. :D

Hi Jean Davis,

Right now my favorite is Omnia by BVLGARI. My second favorite is Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. My Sis really like Vera Wang. I love perfume.

perfume is trickey - you really need to try it on your self since the actual scent depends in part on your body chemistry. Try going to a mall and you will find that the department stores will have sampler bottles. Ask for help - tell them you want something light and natural and ask for recommendations - put a small amount on the inside of your wrist and then smell

The larger department stores usually have a counter with staff and samples.. that's your mission should you choose to accept it.. Infiltrate counter territory and research.. don't forget your mission :) The perfume/makeup counter is nowhere to be afraid of.. sales staff are often on commission.. they won't bite.

1) most stores have samples, or at least of what I've seen

2) please keep it to a minimum. I'm not speaking for all guys, but more often than not, less is more when it comes to that stuff.

Most girls smell nice to begin with (not being a perv, but really, we all have some sort of 'smell' whether or not it's noticeable), and I've always found most perfumes overwhelming.

two cents of a kid on the board, take what you like...

That's so right. I had a gg stand behind me in a shop line last time I was out and it was so strong I could taste it. Afterwards walking home I could still smell it.. and it wasn't one I would buy for myself.

Hehehe, DJ you got the right idea! The two most appealing scents for most men are Vanilla and Cinnamon. I think it's a mother/home cooking kinda thing. Vanilla is also my wifes favorite scent....so yeah, thanks for the tip!

Oh, does it have to be real vanilla? We only have the artificial stuff at the moment :P

Hi Jean,

Perfume is a very personal choice. Basically, if you get something flowery, and use it very lightly, you cannot go wrong. The trick with perfume (kind of like make up) is not to use too much of it. Even the best perfume in the world gets ruined if one over does it.

If you get a non-spray bottle, then just a dab behind each ear is all that you need. If you get a spray, then just a quick sprits at your lower neck is all that you need. You don't want your perfume to linger long after you have walked by. You also don't want to have your perfume precede you when you are walking up to someone. That turns people off.

I would simply suggest that you get something that you like the scent of. You will be surprised that expensive does not mean better. Try some different brands and you will know what smells right for you (it just sings to you :) )

Love

Hello Jean,

I love perfume as much as I love shoes(nearly) . Ive been

using Amarige by Givenchy for a while now ,not too heavy imo but

an evening scent . I recently bought 2 perfumes in a sale Versace

Woman and Escape by Calvin Klein -both nice and for evening but

,and again imo Escape is ""light"" enough for day wear . Like Brenda,

just a dab is fab,,,,,luv,viv :)

Hello Jean Davis,

My first choice is imari from avon. It is most pleasant, and affordable.

Some perfumes contain pheromones, which is the biological chemical associated with attractiveness.

I am sure we have all caught a wiff that really caught our attention. Sent signals are a very powerfull stimulus if the correct one is used lightly, as Brenda recommended. Compare as many as you can, you will know when you find yours

Good Luck in finding it, Take care.

See Ya, Chandra

Well I have not yet ventured into finding a scent for me, I think another couple of months on HRT and I will have my new body scent and then I can experiment - they all react with your own body chemistry.

Dee Jay was on the right track with her vanilla and Shilo added cinnamon but they both overlooked the power of chocolate!

Or in my area, Bar-B-Q sauce!

Jalapenos attract a lot of men too but the burning is a lot to deal with!

Never overlook the new car scent as a possible male magnet.

Choose your scent carefully and use it lightly unless you are only after men with extreme sinus disorders.

If you are trying to attract men all fragrances seem to work better when coming from a new Porche!

Love ya,

Sally

Perfume is really a tricky thing to choose. I have tried quite a few before I use my current one... I find to going to department store is a good way to sample different varieties. I have been using perfume for many years even before my transition, don't know why I can't stand the smell of colonge at all.

Like many mentioned, it needs time like a few days to see if a particular perfume works well with your body scent. Or ask your friend to see if the perfume smell good on you. So far I find Euphoria by CK works best for me, even a few times GGs compliment me smell very good :) Its a kind of sweet floral fruity smell and not over powering

Currently I'm trying the Flowerbomb by Victor & Rolf and Flower by Kenzo. Flowerbomb is a very strong and sweety perfume and will last for nearly 24hrs, seems better for evening use. Flower is a much lighter and freshing perfume good for day time use.

There is lots of fun experimenting perfume

Add a dab of brandy to it and walk around smelling like a christmas cake... giggle.. I know I love the smell of vanilla since it brings back all those lovely cooking memories

I would like to add one thing that I forgot to mention before in this topic. For everyday use, I use feminine body mist. Body Mist can be found in any store (grocery, CVS, etc.) in the same section where women's deoderant, hair coloring, etc are found. Body Mist comes in a small bottle (about 1 inch wide by 3 about inches tall).

This is similar to perfume, but not exactly the same (not as concentrated, so it is less likely to over do it). What is really nice about body mist is that it is very inexpensive (just a few dollars a bottle), easy to optain (I get it while I am grocery shopping), and most of all makes you feel so feminine with a beautiful scent!

Just one spritz towards your lower neck/ upper chest is all that you need. One bottle of body mist lasts for a very long time :)

I like "Sexy Intrigue" by Women Degree. There are many types of body mist to choose from.

I just wanted to add this post to this topic.

Feminine scent is not limited to strictly perfume.

Try body mist, I am sure that you will love it!!

Love

I like the classic Poison by Dior, also Exceptional by Dior. Once you find one you like try fragrance.net the prices are about half of department stores.

I haven't tried enough different kinds yet to develop any preferences but the one I'm currently using Next Cashmere Eau De Parfum is awesome, I'd consider buying it again ^_^

It has been 5 months into my transition.Going well in my progress and should of done this when I was 24 years old.Started living and dressing as female. My estrogen levels look great so far.I have a great support system as well from family members,my son and good friends. My son has said I have become a much happier person.Friends,do say that I have my life back which is true.I also have a great boyfriend for support and he has been learning very well about my transition.Plus he is the first guy that has loved and accepted me for I am.Also did his  research first before we started dating. In September,I have my FFS and he will be there for support

Very pretty y'all. 4" heels is the max I can handle and not for long period of time. I don't see how women wear 5" and above. I love my feet. I sure don't want to punish them.

Well just been doing a lot of self reflection and a lot of gender dysphoria that has caused me to break down. The realization has been that I'm a trial period for men and women don't even consider me. It's getting dim. I have put myself out there by force even when I didn't want to. I have one friend but still haven't seen her IRL yet. We talk on Sundays and it's always me that starts it. Another person only talks to me when they want something. It's never been hey how are you doing. It's almost a month to my birthday and it's all just my mom, sister, nephew that are coming. So much for a 40th birthday party. I hate these posts. I want to be optimistic, positive and cheerful but I haven't seen anything go my way. I'm making it by the skin of my teeth. I wished I could just go into a coma for a year or just not wake up.
    • Ashley0616
Sorry I have been absent a lot but I do read your posts though.
    • Ashley0616
@Michelle_S lol it took a year to get that many. It's nice to have a large number but having the thoughts of helping someone far outweigh the number of posts. I have been absent a lot lately. Back at it tomorrow though lol.

I understand. I have the opposite problem. I'm really tall, my feet are size 13, I don't have any curves mostly but I do have breasts so at least I got that but I get stared at. I have tried dating to men I'm just a trial period and none of the women want to date me as a trans woman so I'm just stuck being single. I do have one friend and that's it. I'm right there with you about not being able to work. I haven't been able to come up with the money for any surgeries. I have a wealthy dream and disability IRL. If you want I can chat with you.

Not sure I could handle 4" heels.  I do have some 2" ankle boots though.

When I got on HRT people remarked on how happy I was.  I had insisted that I was happy before, but now I realized I only thought so.
    • Birdie
My new 4" heels I picked up today! 😘
    • Astrid
One of the nicest confirmations for me was when the 'new me' felt absolutely normal. I had, like almost everyone, felt very excited with each new development. But 6 years in, it's wonderful just experiencing things, like HRT, as daily rituals that are simply part of my life.   I also am privileged to have experienced a feminine perspective these last six years. It confirms how unhappy I was earlier, and things like masculine privilege and mansplaining are so apparent to me now.    Kind regards,   Astrid
