Great Compliment From My Therapist

I had my monthly therapy appointment today and after the usual pleasantries and check ins she asked me how I managed to get as far into transition as I have in the last 7 months. She did say she was sure that it wasn't just the meds, I told her that 85 to 90% of the change comes from whats already in you, your inner self coming out for the first time. At the end of the appointment she paid me a great big compliment, when she told me that she could no longer detect any of the old me in my personality. Needless to say that it was quite the ego stroke and I have been on cloud 9 most of the afternoon. 

Another confidence boost was talking to a wal-mart associate, I mentioned that I was on the wrong side of 50 to be doing the night shift but its a job and I need the money. Her jaw nearly hit the floor, she couldn't believe that I'm over 50. Two nice positive strokes in one day.

Nice, Joanna! Really nice.

Not too much is said in the posts about the effect of hormones on the appearance of aging, but

just looking at people's photos tells me that transition IS beneficial. Maybe there is a psychological

aspect to it - happy and calm people might tend to look younger, but its probably due to the

re-didtribution of fat too.

Whatever the cause, its a welcome effect. The only people around here who don't want to

look younger are the folks in the Teen Forum.

I'm really happy to see you up there on Cloud 9. Its a great place to be.

Tres Awesome Joanna. You really are only as old as you feel. I may never have met you in person but it is pretty obvious that aside from the odd self deprecating joke about your age you really are young at heart.

I am SO glad to hear these things from you. I read a lot of your stuff and I've seen a glimpse of your past torment. It's so wonderful to have a mental health professional pay that kind of compliment to you. Wooof! With the emotional highs and lows we experience, it's really nice to see you on a serious high. That is sooo cool and I'm extremely happy for you.

Regarding the age or should I say "youth" comment it's really nice to hear, also. A Double Whammy (on the good side) for you.
