Vocaloids, Niconico, And Other 'fake' Voices

Voice synthesizers! For those who do not know what they are, they are a computer program where you manipulate voices to sing. Thus, with programs like Vocaloids and... what was that other one, I dunno. There are a lot--you can make different voices sing cover or original songs to music!

Some people are very good at this, and you can find versions on youtube of amazing songs. I like NicoNico chorus's versions of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, and Uninstall.

Bonus plus to Japanese music fans! GACKT is a voice for a Vocaloid named 'Gakupoid.' You can make GACKT sing ANYTHING YOU WANT.

Some of them, like Vocaloids, also have a fan-following with dance and cartoons--they have faces, like Hatsune Miku and Len Kagamine. Very cute!

It can be fun to see what people do with these programs. Some of them are amazing. So, here, feel free to discuss. (Personally I am not a huge fan of Miku or the more famous ones because they sound very robotic.)

This is a song about children who become soldiers to defend their world. Reminiscing about simpler times, how they wish to return. Because in BOKURANO (the series they are from) becoming a soldier means you will certainly sacrifice your life. 'Uninstall' means 'To die.' We are all so small, we are like dust.

BOKURANO means 'Ours' (I think.)

Kaworu Nagisa (Evangelion)

The Masked Violinist (a youtuber who wears a SCREAM mask, and does violin covers to many anime songs. AMAZING.)

But even if you have NO idea who is singing, it is fun to hear different voices.

I do not think we have to worry about electronic voices taking over human singing. However, they are interesting to listen to! How far technology has come.

If you google 'vocaloids' or 'nikoniko chorus' you are sure to find many, many more. I like their version of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni but since that's a song about cutting off someone's fingers in a forest, it didn't sound very G-rated. ;D
