I'm a 54 year old male who never left home. Since 8 or 9 I've been fascinated with woman and how they dress by looking at Sears and Wards catalogs. Not as sexual things but how it would feel to look like a woman. In my teenage years I would sneek into my parents bedroom and try on my mother's undies and clothing - even to the point of sneeking out some undies to wear; which was difficult because of large family in the house meant practically no privacy. I was friends with girls and boys but just friends with girls, never a sexual attraction towards girls though I formed strong friendships with one or two boys. As I sexually matured my dreams (and mastrubations) were about me being the woman and being had intercourse. In college on a 'date' (I was attempting to be 'normal') the woman said I was asexual and that going out with me was like going out with her girlfriends. I'm no femme, my habits and mannerisms are male which is from living with four brothers and growing up with a large frame with lots of body hairs. But I've always been different, never as male as my brothers and always being the woman in my dreams (with occasionally wearing woman's clothing when I could. So after taking care of my parents in their old age and then caring for them to peaceful deaths I knew I had to do something. I've been attracted to men, so I sought out a 'gay' mate. I found one and we're living together. He's a male queen (not femme, but not macho) whereas he wants me to be 'the man' in his life I've been slowly becoming more femme in the relationship. I still dream of myself being a woman though I hide it from my mate as he wants 'a man' but I know I'm not but what am I then?

Hi Joyfemme, and welcome to Laura's Playground!

I moved your post here to the Introductions Forum so that everyone will see it. Please take a moment to read the Terms and Conditions for the site so that you don't get surprised by anything (they're up at the top left).

Questioning is fundamentally a good thing, I think. You're taking the time to properly figure out something important -- it's not a trivial thing to figure out in an hour or two, and thinking about it is good. Hang around the playground, feel free to start posting, and hopefully you'll be able to understand some more things about yourself as you hear from others.

Welcome Joy :)

Welcome to Laura's hon. Now honey, I would not worry about trying to pigeon hole yourself into a specific catagory. Just continue being who you are, and recognize your feelings.

As you express your true self, things will become more clear to you.

Posting here at Laura's is an excellent way to help find yourself :)

So Post sweetie!!!!

My - what a first posting!

I donno what to say! We are a support group but we are certainly not therapists by any means!

You appear to be Gender Dysphoric - but you need to consult a therapist - one specializing in gender issues.

And being or not being 'gay?" Your post should reflect how you love this partner, unconditionally, not dependant on that persons gender - but it didn't so I am confused. Being gender dysphoric myself, I don't think the rules apply to us. How can we be or not be considered homosexual when we are so all over the place.

I personally love women and don't like men very much. That's just me. I am not 'femme,' I am female. I suppose I can be considered a Lesbian by some standards - but I want to experience intimacy as a female - with a male - so I am classified bi-sexual by my therapist. Doesn't mean anything.

BUT

I do know this - you MUST be honest with your partner - and as soon as possible. But be warned, my experience is gay men have no better understanding of transsexuality that anyone else. Your partner wants a butch male? Are you that? Are you a butch female? You need to discuss this with a therapist.

Just an opinion.

Hello Joyfemme,

Welcome to the forums and your new family.

What you are is what you must determine for yourself but a therapist trained in gender identity disorders can be a very helpful guide.

When you know more about your situation tell your partner what you know, you can tell him now that you are questioning yourself and seeking professional help but do not keep it a secret - when he finds out he will be hurt if he feels that you were lying to him.

Love ya,

Sally

Well it's the weekend and again thanks for all the replies. After reading other posts and thinking about it I see the wider range of possibilities. If I had been stronger in my youth I would have considered a transition. But not everything is black and white instead because I've lived as a man old habits and relationships are hard to break. I envy those you make the transition for it takes a determination that is not easy to achieve with the pressures from family and others.

So where does that leave me, I'm male outside but female inside. The opposites have made a peace between them yet the feminine inside wants at least some physical representation on the outside. So I ponder what is possible without leaving my sphere of comfort.

Thanks,

Joy

It's maddening sometimes, sometimes I feel so womanly and other times male but my overall feeling is female.

Good afternoon M.A.   Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums, I think you'll find that there are a lot of us who had their first therapist reconsidering our story and recommended us to gender or LGBTQIA specific therapist. I made my first therapist cry after asking me what was my worst experience or memory. She was not prepared for the can of worms I brought to the couch. My second therapist is a gem, she's my age and knows how to work with my thoughts.    My two kids were also involved in the arts programs in school one in theater, the other combined art and modern music.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Welcome.   This can be a good sounding board and a place to say things you otherwise could not. Be yourself. Find out what that is.   Abby

I'm wearing a white t shirt and jeans.  The t-shirt is softer than a man's and slightly girly.  Feeling kinda pretty.

That's very common in internet forums and it is hard not to take it personally sometimes.   You might post "bump" with a smiley face to bring it to the top of the stack, or you might use the @ feature if there are certain people you would really like to have comment on it, and say something like Dear Abby, I would really like your input on this.  Please take a minute and respond.  Thanks!!!

The same for me... That's exactly were MmIndy came from. I started choosing female skins as soon as they became available in the few games I played.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Something else I noticed @Ladypcnj Since I use the Unread tab, I don't see threads I've read again until someone replies to it, or the author adds something.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
    • Mmindy
Good morning @Ladypcnj   Some posts get lost in the busy times here. It also maters how people navigate the site. Some only look at their notifications, or tap the All Activity tab which shows them thread they've commented on. (how I see it)... I on the other hand use the Unread tag under Activity. I don't think people ignore post as much as they get caught up reading threads they've already been active in.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
    • Ladypcnj
What to do if post is being ignored?

LOL.  I have done this more than once.

Oh yeah, I forgot,    @awkward-yet-sweetwhen your husband finally breaks down and decides to replace the stoves I agree a single professional stove even out of a defunct restaurant might well be the way to go when cooking for all those kids and adults. Certainly better that the situation you describe.  Or maybe from a used restaurant supply where they have professionally cleaned and refurbished it.

Wow, yesterday was a very active day.     @Birdie I hope they figure out where that’s coming from and get you heeled quickly. That it’s nothing serious.  Maybe going to the day care with a purewick will finally convince them to change their attitude.   @MaeBe  especially if you believe you are about to loose your job anyway, what’s to keep you in Minnesota ?  This could be a wonderful thing for all of you Washington State can be wet but it’s really not as bad as it’s made out to be.  If you are west of the cascades it is relatively mild not like MN in the winter time.  And east of the cascades it’s rather desert like around Yakima.     New car shopping can be fun but it can be very stressful too.  We talked about it over lunch yesterday. Strange thing is she kept coming back to the old Ford.  My response was instead of two car payments there woul only be one although I would expect it to be a little higher, but not nearly what two would add up .  Plus I wouldn’t have to continue working as long with only one as when I get the other things paid off I know we can live without me working.  Unless of course, the congress decides to mess with social security.  Right now I have three vehicles I want to look at two are at one dealer and the third at another.  All three are GMs two are newer with lower mileage but are also lower end on the GM line.  The third which is the one that most interests me is a Cadillac.  Let’s see there is a song from way back about a Cadillac and a Hot Rod Lincoln comes to mind.  Anyway it is an XT-5. I get my room and comfort, she gets her nice appointments and the ford hopefully will hang on as a spare for those occasions when we need a second car for me to go to work and for her to do ??  The downside is it has just under 80,000 miles and is a 2020 so in that regard we are slipping backwards from a 2022 with 25000  but going from a sub-compact to a mid-size.  The other two are a compact and a Midsize but neither would provide the expected comfort and features of the Cadillac.  The biggest of which are the pedals that would adjust and the seat adjustments. (My wife is 4’ 10” and I am 5’8” since my spine has shrunk.  The Caddy also has the lane safety as well as front and rear collision warning.  The mileage will go down and the engine requires higher octane gas but that won’t be too much of a drag since we can go to Murphy USA where I work or to Costco which isn’t that far away. 10 miles.  And it’s better than the Ford!   I guess we will see how this plays out later.   Willow
