Safe Shaving

In a month or two I'm going to take action and start shaving my legs, and my armpits. I was wondering if it is ok to do so with men's razor. If sanitation is the only problem, I have many separate razors to use. I was also wondering about he hair on my arms, my stomach/chest and most of all and most embarrassing is the hair on my finger/toe joints. I know I'm not all that known around here or anything but I'm very limited to resources due to my parents and their religion. Also, I will be getting my driver's license and car in a month so I will have transportation and will be able to spend my money.

This is a bit off topic ; but I'm planning to buy and hide feminine clothes and accessories in the spare tire compartment (under trunk) of my car. Is this a good idea? (parents check room and wardrobe/closet often. I also don't really have friends because I am somewhat anti-social; though I can assure anyone my social skills are very good/stable. Graduating highschool next year (just another point out).

Thanks for the help in advanced. I love you L.P. Forums ~

Have a great day!

Toro, I can say from experience that a male shaver with 3 blades is just fine to shave your legs and underarms. I also shave my chest and belly with them. Just make sure you put lotion on each day for about 3 days before you start to shave. This helps in the reduction of razor burn. Also put lotion on afterwards preferebly one with aloe in it.

As far as hiding your clothes in the spare tire compartment, I would not suggest this. Your clothes will get wrinkled and they will smell like a tire.

Love,

Sarah F

Hi Toro,

If the spare tire compartment is the only place that you can hide clothes, may I suggest getting one of those large zip-lock bags for clothes storage. It should keep the tire smell out.

Sorrry can't help with shaving questions. Some more ladies will be along soon with their ideas.

Love, Kat

Thanks for the help everyone. I truly appreciate it, and I wish I could give everyone on this forum a big hug. I had my worries, however that if I shaved my belly /chest and areas besides my underarms and legs it would be a bit of a hassle, considering it is more of a wide area and the hair tends to grow back with rough edges. Any other ideas? Thanks in advanced.

A men's razor will be fine. The only difference is the shape of the guards and the strength of the blades. Men's blades are designed to stay sharp longer with coarser hair, and they do not have the same guards so that they can easily be used on the face.

I would recommend a beard trimmer. Start with that. A beard trimmer will just cut through any hair you hair, and you won't have to waste blades shaving and re-shaving to deforest your skin. The trimmer will do that for you. The trimmer will not get as close of a shave as a razor, but from a few feet away, it will appear to be shaved. You can progress to shaving various areas after you have done the initial deforestation with the trimmer. Essentially, the trimmer will help give you the feel of being shaved without having to shave as much. A few days after shaving you will start to get prickly and the skin may become irritated. This usually doesn't happen with the trimmer. Usually, you will only need to use the trimmer once or twice a week to get the same look. After you've trimmed everything, you can begin to shave one spot. After you're comfortable there, move on to another spot.

+1000!!!!!!!!!!!! I used a electric hair clippers on my first pass on underarms and legs and it made all the difference for this otherwise furry sister. I used to have a car that when it poured rain, water would settle in the spare tire compartment, and that would ruin your clothes for sure - take good care of your femme things, sug.

As others mentioned, I definitely wouldn't use the spare tire area. Too smelly! If you're looking to hide items that are bulky, that may be difficult unless you have a plastic tub hidden in the attic somewhere, but would likely be difficult to access. My parents used to be pretty snoopy too. Things are going to last longer if they can be in an air-conditioned place. Smaller things could be hidden in ziploc bags/other small containers either behind books on a bookshelf (if books don't go back all the way), or behind dresser drawers (take the drawer out) if there's room. You could be as risky to hide something under their mattress. It would be the last place they look. Maybe those are options for you? It may be good to think of a backup plan about where it's all going to go in case someone comes home early and you have it out too.

I've found Nair to be much more convenient than shaving. It's quicker and safer, and leaves your skin perfectly smooth. :)

Similarly, I use veet. In the past I've used the regular cream but it has an awfully distinctive scent and I find it quite rough on skin. I've recently swapped to the "shower" version. It took two goes the first time, but it is quite quick and easy. No irritation and even if I don't maintain it it seems to grow back soft and relatively unobtrusive.

I have a large Stanley toolbox with a padlock on it. Works well for me as I can pack it and move it between home/college without it looking suspicious; especially since I have an identical one for photography equipment. They usually have trays and compartments in various configurations that are handy for make up and jewellery. Wouldn't look out of place in the boot of your car either. Just don't use a dirty old one!

i am truely amazed at the information that i am finding on this site. I was going to post a question about shaving and then i trolled the forums and sure enough someone had already beat me to the question. After reaading all of the posts, i decided time to try. It seemed like it took forever using both Veet and a good razor, But in the end i did not even butcher my self up. I am kinda impressed.

But please tell me that if i maintain my legs, arms and chest that i will not spend another hour in the tub trying to shave again. Hopefully the touch up's will not take long.....

Again thanks for all the information, Might even post those newly shaved legs ;)

oh dear, PLEASE don't let him see this.

I use Nicks razor all the time. His is better than mine. Use a sugar or salt scrub right before as well. It makes your hairs stand up so the shave is extra close and super smooth. :-) + it moisturizes at the same time. :-)

After many years I got the nerve to shave the whole bod. I used an old Gillette and dry shaved my arms. Looks like I Stuck my arms in a thorn bush. Used men's Nair on legs with good results. Had to touch up a bit. Nair on chest only got some and had to resort to razor.

There is nothing more erotic than nylon(or latex) on a smooth bod.

My wife of 45 years and not a fan of CDing has yet to comment and has got me on edge.I'm waiting for the hammer to fall.

It's been a week and it started to prickel on arms and chest the next day. Tomorrow I'll try a different Nair and razor.

I just need to add a note of caution with products like veet and nair - some people are sensitive to it. I can't use it - tried it once - left it on less than 2 minutes (far less than the time indicated on the package) - and got painful chemical burns on my thighs. I was completely stunned since I have used facial delapitories in the past with no reaction - so be careful with the chemicals, they aren't for everyone...

hugs

I wish I could cope as well as others. I feel very defeated in that all of the consideration, and then treatment to transition, could all be wiped out by this time next year with the united effort by the R party to eradicate all that is transgender. I fear that the national election could turn out to our detriment, and we will face a national push to eradicate us. Tracking us down will not be that hard to do. Once they know who we are, forcing the legislation to reverse our name changes, gender marker changes, and other records, will not be that hard. We saw an example when the AG in Texas was data mining the driver licenses for those who had gender marker changes. Who will we appeal to? The Supreme R Court? We would have an easier time trying to convince a Russian court.    We need to get out and vote in November. There is not enough Ben & Jerry's to improve my outlook on all of this. In some ways it is a cruel thing in a way. In the early 1930s, Germany was working hard to hunt down the LGBTQ population and eradicate it. Now Germany has better protections there than we have in many of our own states. About 90 years ago, Germany was seeing the rise of their very own dictator...Now the US is on the verge...Oh never mind. What a difference 90 years makes...    History may repeat itself, but sometimes it shifts the focus a little...

I have the same problem as you, my face is the main reason why I get misgendered I'm pretty sure. I think it's mostly up to genetics how your face will look (T can help, but still genetics will determine how you end up). You can't change your facial structure really, you can get facial masculinization surgery but it's expensive so not an option for most unless you're rich lol.    Experimentally (I haven't done it but want to), you could see if any plastic surgeons around you will give you Kybella in your cheeks. It is an injection that removes fat, and is usually used underneath the chin/on the neck below the jawline, but some may use it off-label on the face. The only potential problem with this is that if your face would naturally thin out at an older age, it could thin out extra and make you look older (though I'm not certain on this). Another option is to get filler in your jaw/chin, which would make your jawline look more square and your face more masculine. I want jaw filler but I'm poor lol, it only lasts one year up to a few years depending on what kind you get, so it would have to be done every so often and can get expensive. I did get chin filler once, only 2 small vials so it didn't make that big of a difference. I would recommend going for the jaw if you can only choose 1, I wish I had done that.   Those are the only options I know of that will bring legitimate noticeable changes.

Thank you.    Trans men and trans women each have their own struggles for sure, but I agree, it can be a hard time to be a non-passing trans guy. There is no specific "man clothes" that only men wear. People could just think I'm butch (which sucks to think about, if people think I'm a lesbian when I'm a dude!!). I mean I would feel better if I got gendered correctly even if I don't fully pass, it would maybe raise my confidence to think maybe I do pass well lol! Instead I'm just reminded I don't.   Though I may just focus on the times I don't pass and ignore the times that I do. Because I rarely remember getting gendered correctly, but I hone in on the times that I don't.

Thank you, I'm glad to be here. :)   I have been in therapy for 9 years but still can't seem to accept myself. I think it has to do with growing up trans in a world that hates us, especially in the south. I mean I was discriminated against by adults and ostracized as a kid/teen due to being trans. My family is accepting, but the rest of the world is not. I realize now a lot of people are accepting (even unexpectedly, like my partner's conservative republican Trump-loving parents lol), but it feels like my brain is still in survival mode every time I exit the door. I am a very fearful person.   My body still may change over time, but it feels like I haven't met the same 'quota' (don't know the right word) that a majority of other trans guys have on far less time on T. Most trans guys pass easily 1-3yrs on T, I'm double that and still don't pass well except my voice.

Thank you. I am just used to seeing trans guys who pass at like... 6 months to 1 year, at the most 3 years. And I just don't meet the mark, all the way at 6 years. It is possible with time I will masculinize more, but it's frustrating when I'm "behind" and may never catch up. It threatens my mental health mostly, possibly my physical health if I'm visibly trans (though I don't ever go out alone).

Yeah, I am grieving the man I "should" have been. He will never exist, especially not in my youth. But I don't know how to healthily go about it instead of fixating on the life that could have been.

Sorry it took me a while to respond!    I would like to get to know you. :) I only have mental disabilities. Schizoaffective disorder, depression, and anxiety. The last two are severe and very treatment-resistant. I did have physical problems for some time, but it was caused by an antipsychotic medication (Invega). It basically crippled me, muscle weakness/fatigue, basically could barely walk (used mobility devices) and doctors were useless since they didn't suspect the medication I was on! I've finally ditched antipsychotics (hopefully for good, unless my symptoms come back). I usually don't share like this, especially in person, but hey, I'm anonymous. :)   I'm not expecting reciprocation at all btw, these things are personal. There is more to us than disabilities, so tell me about yourself if you still wanna talk!

Well the boss is at it again. They misplaced a work order thinking I was the last one who had it, yesterday morning. I know where it is. Last thing I did with it was put it back on the counter. He accused me a couple times of having it last and put it somewhere. Come to find out, the other boss (his wife) had taken it. she put the work order paper in the recycle box.   Has he apologized about the accusations. He!! no. I am waiting for hadies to get frost bit.   So that was my morning.  But it is finally warming up here. currently 63 and windy.   Hugs, Kymmie
