I just received this email from the SLDN in DC. Sens Liberman and Levine have just introduced "REPEAL" legislation on the DADT policy. It's way past time to repeal that madness. Please give your Senetors and yes Congressmen a call or an email and voice your opinion.

Mike

Friend,

We have been working and waiting for this day for years. Just a few minutes ago in the imposing and grand Senate Armed Services Committee hearing room Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) made history by announcing he was on his way to the Senate chamber to introduce legislation to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." We are grateful for the Senator's unwavering commitment to a strong national defense and civil rights.

Senator Carl Levin (D-Mich.), the powerful Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, joined Sen. Lieberman in introducing this landmark legislation.

Now we need to go out and help Sen. Lieberman and Sen. Levin get the votes we need. That's where you come in.

Call the Senate switchboard today at 202-224-3121. Ask to speak with each of your Senators and urge them to cosponsor the Senate's Military Readiness Enhancement Act.

www.sldn.org/CallTheSenate

The Lieberman/Levin bill in the Senate effectively mirrors repeal legislation in the House of Representatives championed by Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Pa.). Both call for DADT repeal and a new policy of nondiscrimination. But make no mistake: Congress needs to act and to do so this year.

We're asking you now to help Senators Levin and Lieberman get cosponsors for their bill, for our bill. Lawmakers listen to their constituents. Volume and quality of the communications matter.

Make the call now:

www.sldn.org/CallTheSenate

Gay and lesbian service members are counting on you to speak out at this critical time.

Thank you.

David Hall

Former Air Force Staff Sergeant

P.S. As repeal legislation moves forward, service members are still being discharged every day. Our lawyers are providing the same legal services that I used when I was a client, but they need your support to continue to do so. Please contribute now: www.sldn.org/legalservices.

Thanks, Mike....

I feel that this is very important stuff...

Service people are willing to give their very lives for their country, but if they're gay/bi/Trans..their country don't want them...

How very sad!

I hope the bill gets somewhere!

HUGGS!

*Please play patriotic fife music as you read this post*

Don't forget that while our country was based on a principle of freedom and rights those rights are not offered to everyone - each group has had to systematically plow through all of the red tape and bureaucracy to gain those rights and be listed by name not just all men - it is stupid and shameful.

The black forces that fought in World War ll were not able to vote at that time - they did not have that right but they were granted the 'right' of serving and dying for the very country that was ignoring their rights.

We are a great country but we have many flaws - the biggest being in human rights - why does every single group have to be granted rights?

We are human - we are American Citizens - so we should all have the same rights - how simple is that?

It is the business of Politics and bureaucracy to make even the simplest of tasks monumental, spending millions of dollars and thousands of man hours which could be done with the stroke of a pin in the Supreme court - that is were it should be done, they are the ones in charge of interrupting the Constitution - "All men are created equal with certain unalienable rights" be read - "All of Human Kind are created equal with certain unalienable rights".

There it is done - everyone has the same rights - how simple - how far beyond the convoluted thinking of all politicians.

Love ya,

Sally

Hey Dee Jay,

I figured that this info was important enough to post the whole thing. Reason being, sometimes readers will hit the "link" and other times they're too busy. So, this way, hopefully they'll read it and take action. You know as well as I, that you have to fight for what you beleive in. And, this is important stuff and affects a lot of military people.

I never will forget an old Sgt 1st class who really helped me out one time. He was a drag queen with 20+ years in service.

This is an update on the orginial article that I published. At the bottom of the srticle from Senator Leiberman's offce is the Bill. I haven't had time to read it yet, but it should be interesting.

http://lieberman.senate.gov/index.cfm/news...t-ask-dont-tell

Another update: I read the bill, it is very short and quite easy to understand.

I also just finished emailing Senator Joe and asked him if it would be possible to slightly amend the bill to include transsexuals and intersexuals, as there are quite a few of each already wihin the military. So, if and when I hear back from him, I will post his reply.

Hey look, something we in Michigan did right... we elected Levin ^_^

As for adding in transgendered to the bill, the problem with that comes with where do you put them? Pre-op would not be welcomed or accepted in the female or male barracks by their male/female counterparts. Plus the cost and hassle of constructing a third would cause more hatred towards us than would be worth IMO. You try telling the American public they need several billion more in taxes to build barracks for transgendered individuals, and see how well it goes over. Post-op however would go to the appropriate barracks and I think should be included if they wish to out themselves as post-op. I wouldn't, but that's just me.

Happiness to me is when I reached a turning point in my life, that I stop worrying what others think about me, and start living my life.

Very, very true.  The number of murders committed by strangers in 2022 was only about 10 percent, per the FBI.   Carolyn Marie

Good afternoon everyone,   I often wondered why @April Marie and @Willowgot up so early in spite of being retired. Now that I have my own puppy as a house pet I get it. We haven't had dogs since before my oldest granddaughter was born 22 years ago this September. I've always had working hunting dogs, and it was important they became acclimated to the current weather conditions. While the kennels had large outdoor runways, they also had pet passes into the somewhat temperature controlled garage. Yes, they were allowed in the house but only for short periods of time. Fast forward to present time, and I'm potty training a puppy as well as crate training. The first night Parker Von Schwinegruber, slept from 10:30 until 05:30. Last night we went to bed and 10:30 and he started making noise at 05:00. Since I don't want to test his ability to hold his business, we got up and went outside. He took care of business and we went back to sleep. This time he had a dental chew bar and I filled his water bowl. We cat napped until 08:00 and then got up for the day taking him immediately outside. He took care of business, and we played fetch and tug of war with his now favorite puffball. We came in and I put him back in the crate positioned so he could see me cook breakfast. Did he NO HE WENT TO SLEEP! We ate breakfast, did the dishes, and finished off the pot of coffee I brewed at 08:00. Once he woke up we stared at one another for about 20 minutes, because he seemed content to be in the crate. I got up and we worked on some obedience training as well as getting into and out of the crate with permission. We don't want him to crash the gate or any doors we will be going through.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I have not heard about it here in California, but then again we have events of various sorts going on very often, and not just in the June Pride Month.  We have Trans Fashion Week going on at a hotel complex over in West Los Angeles for the next three nights featuring shows by Trans fashion designers and modeled by Trans and NB people on the runways there.  I missed a chance for some free tickets and while I know and love many of the participants I do not want to pay for the tickets which will be in the $50 to $75 range, and which at those prices are nearly sold out.  (Not to mention $25 valet parking each night at the venue complex.).  There will be actual high end fashion buyers there though and it is an area where we are gaining some good footing.  I also admit that NONE of the fashions are going to be anything at all that would fit my basic personal style but look fine if not crazy on my much younger Trans siblings who will model them. (Ok everyone else keep on @Mirrabooka's topic.)

Welcome to TransPulseForums @gizgizgizzie    I hope you find this place as helpful as I do. I’m also in a slow transition living in the androgynous world. I’m out to my grown children and my extended family with mixed support from them. Some have cut me out of their lives and others want me to be their flamboyant family member.    Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!
    • Ivy
True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.
