They Just Seem To Know..?

So, I'm only out to 3 people in my personal life. 1 is my ex-wife. The other two are close friends. Anyway, my ex and I never talked about it in front of our son, and she insists that she never told anyone while he was around.

To get to the point, the other day we were at my moms house, and he was calling the dog a good girl. My mom corrected him. He's a boy. So then she asks him if he is a boy or a girl, he says boy. She asks him if she is a boy or a girl, he says girl. Then she says "is daddy a boy or a girl?" he immediately responds with "daddy is like a girl"

I don't dress female or look female and I never thought my attitude was particularly female, but to my 4 year old son I am like a girl. Needless to say I was thrilled by my childs observation. My mom didn't know what to say.

I bring this up because this is not the first time I've heard this of me from a young child. So my question is, has anyone else had a young person seem to just "know"?

But, you know that kids are honest and open...and often they call 'em like they see 'em!

I haven't wore my hair long since he was very young. (6 months) I'm done trying to fit a male role though so I'm growing it out again. It is still short though.

Children may not understand everything but they often have insight into things that many adults simply don't have. And I think that is because they are very open and keep things simple. And often we don't realize just how many masculine or feminine traits we have because they are so much a part of us. It can be the way we sit, how we hold a cup of coffee or tea when drinking it, stance when we stand, general posture, or even a general wave of the hand. I know before I came out to a couple of friends that had mentioned to me that I had a lot of feminine traits and at the time I was trying very hard to hide them from everyone. They also said the way I handled certain situations and reacted to certain things was more along the line of how a girl would handle those situations. My reply to them was I guess it is just all in my make up...lol...When I did come out to them they said it was a surprise but not a shocking one. Although they have never seen me as Katrina, we are still friends and talk often on the phone.

So those around us may not know or even suspect, but they have probably seen something at one time or another. And no matter how hard we try to hide our feminine or masculine traits sometimes they are so much a part of us that come out on their own because it is natural. As they say gender is not between the legs, it is between the ears and our general make up....for mtf's it is also in literal make up and how we apply it...lol.

Anyway that is neat that your son can see that in you at such a young age....Huggsss

Oh, yes, definitely!

When a mother walks by carrying a small child, all of the other salesmen wave and smile at the child and they duck their heads toward their mother - I wave and they turn toward me, smile and start to reach out for me - they just know.

Love ya,

Sally

Hmm, I don't know if this is the same but my 15 year old son tends to call me mom at times, I am not out to him. He used to call me mom alot when he was younger. Just last week he called me mom.

Morning y'all.    Nearly winter here, but it's a mild climate compared to what most of you experience. Even so, the best way to describe the mornings lately is...nipply! 😁

What I don’t like about the dealer working on my car, yes the put the paper mats on the floor, but why don’t they remove them when they bring my car to me?  And why do they always mess with my radio settings and my electronic dashboard settings?  I get them the way I want them and they seem to want them at factory default.  Leave things like you find them!  Why is that so difficult?  And don’t tell me it’s because the updated the computer! Every time!.  And no I haven’t figured out everything yet on the new car.  I can’t even get my key programmed to move my seat when I get in and out.  It’s supposed to move the seat, the mirrors, the steering wheel and several other things.  My old Eddie Bauer was easy to program but then it only programmed seat location and pedal location.   ok now that we’ve had our rousing knock on cars and dealer mechanics.  What else shall we talk about?  Bras?  Seems like an appropriate subject for most of us.  I have several different types. Two are famous store push-up padded to are more common everyday lightly padded ant one is a no padding no strap slip and the last one is a front close longline no padding.  Now that one supports the theory that I am now a B cup on my own. I’d prefer a C but then I’m not so sure my blouses would still fit without pulling.  Ah the problem we have as women.  And sizes are never ever the same.  Oh I’m a size ??  But men I need a large shirt and 36-30 pants and they always fit.   we can’t buy anything off the rack with confidence it will fit and I hate having to take it home to try one and return what doesn’t fit.   we’ll time to do my hair and leave.   love ya   Willow

Hello we are The lake. So called because This One has not determined a name for oneself but has in a way created an environment to try out multiple names as different people. Currently Some of us use she/her pronouns and one uses he/him. We hope to learn more about being transgender and the intricacies involved. Once again it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance and we hope to be of further help in the future.
