I don't like their terminology, it's flawed.

It also makes the little girl sound like a crossdresser, which, although it's not a problem, isn't what she is. (We can only hope for the day in which crossdressing for guys isn't a problem, for the sake of people who are...)

""I just find it ironic that they can dictate the dress style of children to make sure they don't wear inappropriate clothing, but they have no controls in place for someone wearing transgender clothing," [Dave M.] told the station."

This is a highly unacceptable comment to quote in an article about transgenderism... there is nothing wrong with wearing clothes, especially in the context of this little girl's life.

8 Year Boy Returns to School as a Girl. A friend sent this link to me over facebook, looks like Colorado is giving great support to the HBS community in certain parts now! Hopefully this trend spreads!

Well at least the school did come with a compromise I suppose by allowing her to use the teachers bathroom. That's a hard one since the age group...it is good on one side of things...the child already feels a certain way and able to express it freely...however I am concerned though...at that age I know I was confused...it took me alot of growing up to do before I really settled in on what I was or who I was...so I am a tab afraid that the grandather is pushing the child in his own fight.

While the grandfather is pushing the fight what if the child changes her/his mind...would she be afraid of dissapointing the grandfather and not say anything? Then still be push into being something she/he is not? Defeating the whole purpose?

I truly believe we should have all sex bathrooms...but for more adults then anything...

Then again...having diffrent bathrooms as a child is setting the standard of things...on who you should be and whatnots...oh that is a tough one to debate on...I am on either side of this one...ooo a toughie for sure...

I think it is great that schools are finally beginning to accept that transgenderism and HBS in any form are very real and need to be addressed at younger ages in a lot of children. I wish society would start moving in that direction. However, something to ponder... just before women were granted suffrage there was the most violent opposition. Just before blacks got their civil rights there was a TON of violent opposition. Our time is coming, and fast :)

that man is a bad man...he is a one sided idiot sending his grandson as a lacky to ruin someone els's life because he is too afraid to say his life was horrible and did not relate enough to girls to want to change....i beleive people who hate other people because the person has or just gained something they could never acheive in their own life....then again i have no opinion that is creditaable o.O

Definitely. It's easier for people with younger opposite-sex children (dad doesn't have to worry about bringing his young daughter into the men's room and vice versa) and transgenders alike. Women might not like it, though, would cut down on their ability to go to the bathroom together and gab about a guy that might be in the stall right behind them. Joking.

Whei Wong, the district spokeswoman, said the school is preparing two "unisex" restrooms for the student to use and teachers have been instructed to address the student by name, instead of using a "he" or "she" pronoun.

Whatever happened to "they"? 'You' is plural and we use that all the time to refer to individuals.

Anyways, I guess I can see the point... but that's kind of weird. The kid wants to be called "she", call her 'she', don't worry about whether or not that's their "real" gender. It's like saying Mike has to be called 'Michael'.

Having taken Business Communications in college I've been told that 'they' is actually grammatically incorrect in defining a singular androgenously. The 'fair gender context' in writing has always been a hot issue of late, mostly for women's human rights, but it can be equally applied here. The general writing style when referring to a person without defining gender makes use of things like gender-neutral terms, alternation of gender in examples, etc. Unfortunately this has no application in speech, and so we are left with either slang or identifying a gender. I've always been nervous about approaching a person who's gender I didn't know in the fear of being wrong, and not knowing how to address them in a neutral way.

It sounds like getting back in is the issue.  It will still be handy to have it if you aren't planning on coming back.  Hopefully it doesn't get that bad, but it is good to be prepared.

Did they provide a diagnosis, follow-up treatment, medicine?  I agree with Vicky, that it seems like they treated you well, which is great.   Carolyn Marie

The way things are going, this country won't be recognizable in two years, nor will we have a Constitution that means a damn.  The admin is already trying to impeach any judge that dares disagree with him.   Carolyn Marie

I love the lighter nights and warmer weather, its a great time to start outdoor hiking and our usual yearly walks, I am going to have to watch my weight, i am 59kg my average tends to be around 62 kg if i can stay around 59 kg i am not too much bothered. but spring is a time of planting up flowers on my balcony and attending my hanging baskets, Mia loves the cat mint and loves to watch the butterflies.

I love doing exercise, more so in the summer, i can be quiet strict with my diet, i do eat red meat and potatoes, its about finding out what works for you and being realistic. When i first started on hormones i had my weight checked by the endocrinologist at hospital every three months. I tend to worry a lot too so that might be one reason why i do not gain weight easily. when i go on very long walks say around 30 miles friends will say have your brought anything to eat? i never did only bottles of water to keep me going.

I have my passport, but I'm afraid to try to use it.  It sounds like it might get confiscated.  But I don't really have anywhere to go anyway.

Thank you MaeBe for always being there. I really do appreciate you. I hope things are going better for you and family.   Thank you HeatherK I will tell him you said happy birthday.   montyone well I can talk with you. I'll try to make it a habit to check the forums more often. I just have a lot going on. As you can tell by my post count, I was very active. I have kids two boys and doing house renovations on top of it. Getting a new floor put in because I have only had concrete for a while because the HVAC flooded the floors and of course the laminate wasn't waterproof. What I selected now is plus I love the look better on this. I'll post a picture.

Exactly.  This was the rationale used to prohibit LGBTQ+ people from the military in the first place, back in the last century.  They said it wasn't being gay itself that made you ineligible, it was the fact that you had to hide it, thus making you vulnerable to foreign blackmail.  And of course, the reason they had to hide it was because they'd boot you out if they found out.  Total circular reasoning.

We did yoga at ballet school it was the first lesson of the day starting at six in the morning. Yoga is important to ballet because its about mind, some of the exercises in ballet could be really painful, part of yoga was about pain management and working through the point of pain. If you thought about it you would tense up and that would make it worse. The butterfly pose or a variation of it was to have someone stand on your knees and push them flat down to the ground, a teacher would then go behind and pull your body back until your head touched the ground. Never do this pose it has to be supervised and is usually done once the body is warmed up and your mentally relaxed. Once you manage to relax the teacher would lift your head your partner stopped standing on your knees and the teacher would then pull you forwards by holding your hands until your face touched the floor, the teacher would say relax and work through the point of pain. The important part is to keep your knees to the floor, so, why do they teach this for classical ballet? well its because we turn out our legs, eg first and second position, fourth open fourth closed and fifth, known other wise as positions of the feet.
