A Few Questions

I wasn't sure which board to put this in. I thought this was the correct one, but if not please forgive me.

I have several questions that I have been trying to figure out, that are eluding me so I figured I would try my luck here.

1) Does anyone know how to get rid of a double chin?

2) What is better for facial shaving. An electric razor, or a regular razor and shaving cream?

3) What is the best way to "cure" razor burn? Especially on your legs.

4) What are the benefits of waxing as opposed to shaving?

5) Is there anything that can be done for a receeding hair line?

6) Is there anything I can do for extremely oily skin?

7) Any recommendations for adult acne?

That is all I can think of at the moment. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out here.

Hi Rachael,

See my replies in line below! :)

1) Does anyone know how to get rid of a double chin?

Only exercise/diet or lipo/platysmaplasty (neck reduction) or similar.

2) What is better for facial shaving. An electric razor, or a regular razor and shaving cream?

It depends on your skin, hair and technique. And of course, what you're most comfortable with. I always use an electric shaver (a three head Philishave - n.b. it's different from the Philishave below). I guess it's a case of try it and see.

3) What is the best way to "cure" razor burn? Especially on your legs.

That's tricky. I have that problem too, but on my face. If I shave regularly it's less bad. You could try a Philishave bodygroom . I've got one and think it's fantastic for legs, under arms, bikini line, tummy etc. You could have laser hair removal on your legs.

4) What are the benefits of waxing as opposed to shaving?

Waxing removes the hair at the root and so when it regrows the hair is a new hair and not a hair that has just been cut off. Consequently the regrowth feels less stubbly at first. Waxing should last longer than shaving. Some say that waxing can cause more ingrown hairs, but I don't know. Personally it seems like too much hassle and expense compared with shaving.

5) Is there anything that can be done for a receeding hair line?

Yes. Start finasteride as soon as possible, or possibly avodart (use under the care of a competent physician for either). You may also consider minoxidil. Surgically, there are hair transplants of different sorts and scalp advancement.

6) Is there anything I can do for extremely oily skin?

Try different soaps. When I've had a oily face in the past, I've favoured Cuticura soap (a bar). I'm not sure if it is available in the US, but I bet something similar is. I used it morning and night. But it is very drying. You might find something better (and less harsh) in a shop like The Body Shop . Oestrogen will also make your skin less oily.

7) Any recommendations for adult acne?

You may be best consulting a physician if you have adult acne. It may be beneficial for you to take one of the antibiotics that are widely used for acne.

Hope that helps :)

Hi

I find that an electric is better than shaving with a blade. The foil helps protect the little bumps and rises on your skin that would be irritated by a blade. As for the razor burn - on face I wash with cold water too close up pores then use sensitive skin lotion. As for the legs I wipe them down with a cold cloth after washing and shaving. Seems to help close up those pores without that cold dip. Any good lotion with aloe then worked in. Hope this helps KK :)

I've been using a regualar razor for shaving and lately it's been going good. I used to get really bad razor burn but now I change my blades a lot more frequently (about every few days) With my legs and other body hair I just had to break the habit of obsessing over every hair. I'd get irritated because I'd try to get every one every time. If there are a few stubborn ones I just leave them, let me skin heal, then get them next time around.

Hi Rachael

Well I shave with an electric shaver and usually don't have much of a problem if I shave every day. But if I happen to miss a day for some reason I usually have to use a Pre-Electric Shave Lotion so I don't irritate my skin. The only draw back is you have to wash off the Man scent you get from the lotion.

I'm a masculine woman. It's not about masculinity though. It's about expanding what it means to be a woman.

It never rains but it pours.  We had a dry spring, but now my garden is a swamp and my yard is a pond.  Get off the gravel road, and you'd need a hovercraft.    With nothing better to do, I'm going on a short trip with my husband tomorrow.  Since he's in management he usually doesn't do this sort of work, but whenever he does I usually go along.  And he already knows not to try staying in a hotel, because I want to sleep in the bunk in the truck.  So much more cozy.    And for a couple of days, GF can actually take care of her own kids instead of leaving them to me....

I have played clarinet, but without talent.  And while I *can* sing, I think listening to it would be an acquired taste.

Something that would help is reducing salt intake which causes the body to hold water and causes inflammation, another thing would be to add cardio to your exercise routine. Lowering your overall body fat will affect your face appearance. Hope this helps :)

Hi Sally, okay I'll head on over to your post and check out your makeup techniques.

Hey all,   It's been a while, but I blogged a whole series on makeup.  It's an eight-part series where I talk about my techniques.   Here is the link to Part 1:       Hopefully the blog series is helpful.

Oh, I can relate to that one Vicky, leaving lipstick in hot weather  I've lost count how many times I had to purchase new purses.

Thanks for the replies, as an admin from my own group I understand the same rules, agreed.

I do spoken word acting, and give Trans 101 talks and other public speaking.  I wear make-up for those occasions.  Sephora is easy for me to get to, and has a foundation that does a good job for me and the sales folks there are Trans Friendly.  Their eye shadow pallets are also fun to use. Another source of my foundation is Ulta which carries Dermablend that does a consistent job of my lower face and chin.   I just use good old Revlon lipsticks because I ruin them by leaving my purse in the hot car too often.

I'm not interested in makeup, jewelry or nice clothes or girly stuff.  It's made me wonder at times.   It saves some money.  If I wore a skirt it would likely  be denim.  I thought about a woman's skirt suit but nah.   Neither of my sisters are into that stuff either.  One likes peasant chic (still a 60s flower girl)  and the other - the only time she has ever worn a dress was at her wedding.  Jeans at all other times.   Jeans and t shirt here.  Content being a girl.  Weirdo. Weirda? Never mind.

@Ladypcnj Before posting links to other group's websites, PM one of the Staff (preferably an Admin) and have them check that site out.   We have specific rules here regarding age appropriateness and would need to know that the other site is in line with those rules.  We do have members here between 13 and 18 and other sites need to be safe for that age range, legally and otherwise.  Also, we are not a dating or pick-up site, not do we allow people selling things to advertise here.  As I said clear the link with a moderator or admin before posting it.  Mod's and admins do check out posts and if we find problem links we will remove them and notify the OP of a rules violation.  Go to https://www.transgenderpulse.com/community-rules to understand where we are.

I raise my hand in the group, I have a question and a suggestion... is it allowed to share other new lgbtq+ website links here?
    • Ladypcnj
Yeah, ELF is a good brand, another brand is Revlon ColorStay last 24 hours.
