News flash,

I have been involved this week with the Nation Center for Transgender Equity or NCTE they have an office here in Washington DC and I was there yesterday making calls to voters to urge them to call there Congressional Representatives to let them know that they want them to vote for HR3017 and that they want Transgender rights to be a part of this bill.

I would like all of you to commit to calling your House Deligate atleast once a week for the next few weeks to remind them that you are there and want their vote on this issue. We need to act together to get things done to protect our rights as Americans.

WILL YOU MAKE THE CALL? PLEASE? :D

I will be attending a conference today and tomorrow in DC to help organize people from all over the country. I hope you will do the same make some calls and ask your friends and loved ones to call on your behalf. Share your stories of discrimination to re-enforce the need for this bill. When you call your Reps. make sure you tell them what street you live on and in what town so that your call will be counted as a member of their district. It is a numbers game to a great extent. So make some calls and let them know you are out there and that you need protection. Most states have no protection at all for the LGBT community. Here in Maryland we do have some protections but, this does not cover gender identity. We need this bill signed into law so that our ability to work is protected when we make a transition at work. This is very important to me because I plan to do this in the next 12 months. I have the cooperation of my Company so far but, I would feel better if there was a law like this to protect me in any case. Go to endanow.org to find out more. <_<

Also we need to add being Trans to the Census forms we fill out. Go to queerthecensus.org to find out more. Is it a real Census if we are not ale to identify ourselves as a part of the community? I think there are more LGBT people in this country than their are Pacific Islanders but, they will be counted and we will not. That just does not make any sense. :banghead:

I am commited to fighting for our rights. I am also commited to bugging everyone here to get involved. So share your stories about what it was like to make the call.

Big News,

ENDA has wide support in Congress.

198 Congressional Reps have signed on and 45 Senators are on board also. Many are being hasseled quite a bit for taking this stand for Gay and Trans rights. Please make the call and if your Rep is in support of the bill thank them for doing so.

I was with about 100 Trans and Gay advocates yesterday. We meet with many Reps and Senators. I went on 4 visits in groups from 3 up to 20 and we were well recieved by all. Maryland is a Liberal State and that was not too big of a suprise. We did get to tell our stories and share data about what we all go through when it comes to employment. I felt very blessed to be a part of this event and I plan to give more of my time to transgender Equality. I also donated my money to this cause and NCTE does not get government grants to do it's work. If you can give a donation please do.

Okay,

This is how it works. Make the call and then give them your name the street you live on and the town you live in. Then tell them that you are calling to urge them to support ENDA the Employment Non Discrimination Act. It is also important that you tell them that you want to make sure that gender identity stays in the final bill. There is allot of attention on Health Care right now but, this could be the next thing that comes to the floor. So don't wait these calls are counted and make a difference. If you have a personal story that relates to this bill don't be afraid to tell them your story. Our supporters need as many stories as we can get them. They help to harden their resolve to get this done. We have a really good chance of having this become law so call every week until it gets done.

Thank you. This is a wonderful community of caring people and I want so much to be able to help us get this bill passed.

      I am an evangelical  I am also transgender.  This is an issue. I have read up on it.  I am not an expert, but I have done a lot of reading.   One thing I do not get about people who take that position is that evangelicals are all about salvation by faith alone by Christ alone by grace alone - unless you are transgender.  Then you cannot be saved, these say, unless you do the work of un-transgendering yourself.  Which is, practically, impossible.  I have read the "solutions" and I don't buy them, obviously, because they do not work.    In evangelicalism salvation is by faith alone, Christ alone, grace alone, without any merit of our own.  That means, to an evangelical, we come to Christ as we are,  in the words of a glorious hymn,   1 Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bidd'st me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   2 Just as I am, and waiting not to rid my soul of one dark blot, to thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   3 Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt, fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   4 Just as I am, thou wilt receive, wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve; because thy promise I believe, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.   We do not clean ourselves up BEFORE we come to Christ.  We let Him clean us up AFTER we come to Him.    Those who insist that transgender people cannot be saved are actually preaching another Gospel, a Gospel of works, and have wandered away from the glorious Gospel into works.  That is strong but true.   Struggling with legalism and grace, I have found more of God's mercy and grace available to me because I struggle with being transgender and seeking His resolution of it.  Which, not having the struggle, I would not have needed to seek Him earnestly on this.

      Eventually, (especially if you start T,) things will even out. The excitement you feel is from everything being so new. Finally knowing yourself and having others recognise you can be thrilling. However, because it is your natural state of being, eventually that wears off. There's nothing exciting about it anymore because it's "just you." (Which is a perfect thing to be!) This, however, can lead to disappointment. Trust me when I say however, that that disappointment and jarring reaction to wrong pronouns will go away, and you'll once again feel comfortable in yourself.

      I wear a wig most of the time.  But I can get by with my natural (shoulder length) hair if I wear a hat or something to cover the mostly empty top. Unfortunately that train has left the station, sigh.

      Oddly enough, just this weekend I read some of my poetry at a local event.  In this case it was a Pride group so I didn't have a particular advantage.  But I have read in more inclusive (of cis people) situations, and been fairly well received.  Let's face it, cis people do deserve an equal chance.   I suppose this might be a problem in the future.

      Of course we do.  The few friends I do have are almost exclusively cis or trans women. I think I could have a relationship with a man, but he would be kinda "other" to me.  Could be interesting though. I never have understood guys - even when I was trying to be one.
