Ffs Surgery

Hi everyone.

I just recieved an email from Dr. Ousterhout in San Francisco with a qoute of how much it would cost to have FFS done on me. Wow!!! Very expensive, I would have to save for over ten years or more just to have eneough to cover FFS. I do have options of financing though through student loans and such but I would like to know if anyone here has had good results from Dr. Ousterhout with fFS. Dr. Suporn is my other choice of doctor I may consider and I hear he is very good as well. Anyone have good results with Dr. Suporn too would be helpful.

Hugs,

Suzie

I have to agree, Suzie....

When money is a factor for me (and it is) the SRS comes first!

Then FFS if it's in the stars.

But, truthfully, after 13 months on HRT my face has done some really cool things that I really like...I'm certainly passable and even "Not too bad" looking...

I'd wait to see what the HRT does first and you can always go for FFS later...I think that you may be pleasently surprised by the HRT...I'm 60 and it treated me right!

Besides, when you see the price on FFS...you suck all of the air out of the room...really not fair to others in that room with you!

My call is HRT first!

HUGGS!

Same here...SRS is very important to me so that is first. FFS would be nice, I would like to see as little masculinity in my face as possible. It will have to wait though.

Ok girls I am blushing now, you are all right I should wait for HRT to take effect and wait on the FFS. I am just SO impatient at times, this is my downfall, have always been that way. I really am trying though to be more patient. Oh well..was just getting quotes from various surgeons that do FFS and Dr. Ousterhout was one of them. Sometimes I just need a good kick in the butt to get myself back on track. Thank you. :-)

Hi Suzie,

Would you mind saying how much the quote was and what work you it covered? I'd be really grateful if you wouldn't mind telling me - I've been planning to get a quote from Doug Ousterhout myself. I understand if you want to send it in a private message.

I've been thinking lately that even if Doug is as expensive as some of the more outlandish quotes I've read about, it might be worth going to him direct as the chances are that if I went with someone else, I might end up going to Doug for a "re-do" anyway.

Jeffrey Spiegel is a possible alternative though.

I feel the same way... I'm sick of seeing any masculinity in me and I want it ALL GONE!!!

I have a friend who had FFS by Doc Speigle (?)I think thats it in NJ or Penn. It didn't cost her about 10

Kellly

DR. Spiegel he's in Boston.

I have not had much to say on this subject which is odd for me because I am seldom at a loss for words.

But surgery to me is a very scary proposition - I have been told that I will not need any ffs and that is very good because I wasn't going to have any even if did.

It is going to be a major undertaking (poor choice of words) to get me throught the SRS - I need that so badly to feel complete but my fears of surgery run very deep so anything tht can be considered elective I elect not to have.

Love ya,

Sally

I've booked a consultation with Jeff Spiegel - he's visiting the UK in April. I'll post about how it went once I've seen him.

For anyone else interested in seeing him while he's in the UK, the details of his visit are on the Events and Links page of his website.

(Perhaps his visit should be publicised in the MTF forum as well?)

Doug Ousterhout is not planning to retire soon. http://www.tsroadmap.com/notes/index.php/s...ning_to_retire/

There aren't any conferences anywhere near me where one can see multiple surgeons in a single day, so the only options for seeing non-local surgeons are to see them as they visit (Doug visited the UK last year I think, but I didn't see him, and Jeff Speigel is visiting this year), go see them at their practice or correspond by email, telephone, Skype etc.

I went with Ousterhout... I owe my whole credit for being able to pass to him.

He is VERY expensive though. I dropped about 50k.

I am glad I made the choice though!

Now Dr. Ousterhout... Isn't really going to make you have a new face if that's what you want!

He takes your existing face, and grinds bones... Shapes it... Makes it a feminized version of what you use to have.

I don't look a lot like my sister, but we have some similarities. We use to be thought of as twins when I was male.

I figured if anything... I'd look a lot like her. So I went with the Facial Reconstruction!

It depends on what you want to do first, and how well you pass. I did not pass at all pre FFS.

I tried, and it just didn't work. Especially since my nose was broken/pulverised from fights & MMA about 5-6 times.

I have some what I looked like as Male... Then Female(Pre-Op)... Then Female(Post-Op)

Let's see here....

Male: Roughly 180lbs. Mainly Mostly Muscle.

Female(Pre-op FFS): Ouch that broken nose still makes me cringe... I weighed about 140-145 of a lot of muscle.

(I still have that purse, and Ralik shirt btw)

Female(Post-op FFS) Couple things I'd still like to do, but looks decent. I weigh about 121 pounds now.

(Newest to Oldest I think)

Wow... thanks for sharing this. I mean, wow...

Two questions. Does Dr. O always cost around that much? And are there any other notable surgeons that cost less (like Spiegel)? I can get about 30K from my parents, probably, but, I don't think a life should cost any more than that.

Oh, and wow. I don't get shocked easy, or ever, but wow. *shocked*

Depends on how much you do...

For price that is...

Could you specify?

Like, is there a fixed price for certain surgeries?

You know, chin costs $$$, nose costs $$$, mandible costs $$$.

It all depends... You'd have to get a consultation... I did my jawline, chin, nose, browline, and forehead and it ran about 40-50k

I don't know much about other Surgeons... I looked into a few others, and none of them looked too great. So I tried the one that I "thought" was best at the time, and it worked out for me.

I had to skip out on the mandibular advancement, breast implants, and trachea shave.

Uh, what does jawline/mandibular advancement mean? Is that supposed to make the face more angular, or something?

Anyway, I only need/want chin, nose, and browline (assuming that's just the eye area); can you, like, ballpark that?

I'm not really looking to waste money and time on a consultation that I might not want.

Maybe surface tension?   I was in a political debate yesterday and it got way too focused on social stuff and I just had to steer the conversation back to how natural gas transitions to a liquid under pressure.  One of the people I was debating had a career working in that field and it was a good opportunity to expose stuff like that.  He mentioned that it isn't just pressure, it is temperature too.  So then I mentioned how the lines are running underground and asked how that played a role in it.  He came back saying that natural gas is a liquid under pressure.  I guess I didn't get a straight answer on that, but it did move my thinking one step down the road.  Perhaps I should have been more direct with him and asked him at what temperature and pressure.  Is there a chart?   I feel people would be better off if they paid more attention to the objects in their environment instead of focusing on some of the things that we hear so much of in the news.  People are pretty clueless as to how much trigonometry plays a role in so many things in our society.  Even land surveyors don't really use it anymore because programmers locked it away in a function.  Much like how cascading style sheets (CSS) is a wrapper for math.  I wonder what former president Trump thinks about all of that?  He must have some knowledge of how his buildings are constructed, right?  There certainly is a part of me that thinks he is just putting on a show about all of this.  Perhaps I'm wrong though.  All kinds of people in the world.

Oh, my "maybe this person is an egg" story is the (male presenting) piercing person and I discussed body hair removal methods, he says he doesn't want any hair except on his head, which is what I said during a couple hair removal sessions before and just after the egg cracked.

I, too, am lucky.  Here in the UK I have a great therapist, a fully supportive GP, and a psychiatrist and endo who look after me and my needs.  I found the therapist on Psychology Today.

Over the last few years of being on this site and going through medical transition, I've come to own the M->F identification.  Funny, I made a typo of M->T.  It is a curiosity if I'll ever put Gender: Female on this site.  It is my intention to be there someday.   Right now, because of career stuff and a high stress event with an electric hair clipper last fall, I'm feeling much more masculine than I would like.  I think that once I make some decent headway with my third career, I'll settle into a more feminine feeling.   I never really considered gender very much.  I certainly always used a feminine appearance as my presentation goal. I think that when I was young, I briefly had the idea of transitioning, but I convinced myself quickly that medical transition would be a bad outcome, so I put all those feelings and ideas in the closet for decades.  I'm still very apprehensive about medical transition.  I've always taken health to be a high priority for me.  I wrote a book last December about my fears of it all and my conclusion ultimately is that sometimes there is more to life than being a pillar of health.  It's important to take some chances if that is where your heart takes you.
