Its My Anniversary!

today is my second year anniversary and i feel really good.

it was only recently that i came out to myself about being transgender and i STILL made it to TWO.

i even got a "happy sober birthday" call from a member of my old homegroup in los angeles today. that made me feel extra special.

all i can say is - It Works If You Work It.

psssh It Works if you Dont! Just NOT FOR YOU.

thank God, thank God, thank God.

i actually came out to one member of my homegroup here.. i had to tell SOMEONE. we are only as sick as our secrets. i saw him at a meeting last night and he slipped and said "Miss" - then said, "wait.. my bad. i didnt mean that, im sorry..." i dont think he knows how much that meant to me. i just wanted to share that with someone... a little hope, HOPE!

also, i shared in a meeting that i would be going by rae instead of [insert rae's birthname here] (takin baby steps, you know?) and despite what went on in MY head about what people would say or ask - they simply just call me rae... and its not a big deal. i LOVE the program. the people in the fellowship accept me unconditionally because our lives depend on it. just like the people all over this forum. i love it here too.

ok.. thats about as emotional as i'll let myself get.. until tonight when i pick up my keytag.

Two years old is very interesting. That is when i made a decision with the help of my sponsor to live this life as an Transsexual women!!!!

My home group is accepting of me and they fight for me. All i have to do is the program and look cute.

Congratulations Rae on your two years!! I know that a lot of trans people struggle with abuse/addiction and it is a hard thing to stay sober. Keep staying the course Rae, you're awesome

It is definitely ONE day at a time. Sometimes one hour at a time. It takes what it takes, but NO MATTER WHAT we dont have to take another drink or use another drug ever again.
