Buff Or Skinny?

Guys around me over here in 'real life' so to speak all talk about going to the gym and buffing up and such. So I'm getting the general impression I'm the oddball for not particularly wanting that. I'd rather be a skinny dude.

What about you guys on here?

Well, I want to be both, but lean towards thin. I'd basically like to be very thin, but with some definition in my arms and broader shoulders. A six pack wouldn't hurt either. However, I would NOT want to look body builder because that would look creepy in my opinion.

Before T, I just want to be as skinny as possible while still being able to pass. After T, some muscle would be really nice. Not a lot, but just so I don't look prepubescent. At the moment, the only choice I have is fat or thin. It's nearly impossible for me to gain muscle definition.

I agree with 'praisedbeherhooves' Some definition in the arms and broader shoulders would be nice-

But personally body builder muscly just too far for me 2 , it can kinda get creepy after a certain point and I would just really like the strength more.

Have always wanted to b able to do chin ups ;)

- It's so annoying and painful to watch my male friends be able to physically do things with such little effort in comparison to me who is strong but not as strong as them, just because of the body I was born into.

I don't really want to be buff, I just want to be strong and get rid of excessive fat. I'm not really concerned about that. I'll just keep in shape like I've been doing.

I don't want to be too buff, but i don't want to be too skinny. I want to be average i guess. Kinda inbetween. I want to have muscles but not so much so that i look like some bodybuilder but enough to look like i'm a fit, healthy guy who is thin but kinda muscly with it....I want a 6 pack.....

a 6 pack of beer!

When I was a kid I always said that I was going to grow up to be a man with muscles like the incredible hulk... now I don't think that is quite so desirable.

I'd like to have muscles that look strong but without looking like I've inflated myself with an airhose. Being super muscular and buff, to me, after having lived with a competitive strength athlete, is a look that screams to me "stay away I am obsessive" It takes obsessive detication to build and maintain a body in that state and while I enjoy the idea of getting myself back to the point where I can impress people with feats of strength even though I will never have the strength of a bio-male, I have no desire to go for the bodybuilder, buffed up, incredible hulk look anymore.

You can do almost every exercise you could do in a gym with free weights. A cheap set of dumbbells is a good start. My roommate has some like this that I use sometimes: http://www.powerblock.com/Classicseries.html

There are similar ones that are much, much cheaper. Also, check out Goodwill and other thrift shops. When people start cleaning house, exercise equipment is often the first to go. I could furnish a whole gym with all the stuff I've found in the garbage. Yes, I check out people's garbage.

When I was a teenager and hiding my real feelings, it was common knowledge among guys that you want to be buff because that makes you strong and hot and girls will flock to you by the dozens. A lot of guys are realistic about their looks but that's kind of the male version of wanting to look like a supermodel.

You hear a lot of talk about free weights but don't try to walk out of the store without paying for them!

I have always felt that body builders should have quit while the still had necks and were able to put their hands down to their sides - I like someone who is fit not really buff - like Sean Connery or Tom Selleck - that is as buff as anyone needs to be.

Love ya,

Sally

Neither, really. I would like more of an in-between body type; a natural body, if you will. I want my body to be mildly toned, with a small bit of muscle definition in the arms and shoulders with flat abs, but I certainly don't want to be rippling or particularly thin. I don't find either very appealing and neither does my girlfriend.

I really do hope T gets rid of the "squishiness" of my body. I think I already have quite a bit of muscle built up but you'd never be able to tell.
