Candles

Hi Everyone :)

I am always burning candles! I have my favorite..... Apple Cinnamon :D

What I find interesting about candles is that even if you buy the same candle week after week, they all burn differently.

I love candles because of their warmth, their personality, their gift :)

Oh my......

I also love candles...I burn scented candles and love the way they make the house smell......

One Christmas I made candles for everyone on my gift list.....They all received something very personal from me....

Some of them kept the candle, unburned ....but each one was scented....

I made a royal mess of the stove top that year!

But, it was very well received!

Never been able to shop for them - the stores are instant allergy attacks. But vanilla is intoxicating. Always inspires a warm and relaxed feeling. I love it when my wife gets them out!

bernii - Dee Jay - I never knew! I am a candle freak! Vanilla - Chocolate - Coffee and Cream - Black Cherry - MacIntosh Apple - Pumpkin Pie (holidays) - and the scented ones we find homemade in the flea markets, true flower garden scents - the ones that appeal so much, we HAVE to have them! I keep three minimum going at all times - especially in the kitchen as I clean up! Fun to experiment blending scents...

And I learned to make my own - we have an Aveda distribution center in (where I live) and I am always asking for their used samples. A double boiler will liquify candles and then they can be rebuilt! I love putting in a slightly larger wick (Hobby Lobby) so they burn cleaner...

But soy candles are slightly different, so they don't mix - my favorite is tomato vine! I usually look for true flowery scents - and avoid the cliches - and eeeeh Lavender - no waaaaay!

Some of you may also understand why I love black candles too. And... well... all my life! Should told me something!

OMG Dee Jay! You and I are the same person - and bernii too... Who else???

Lizzy

Now my passion for kerosene lamps? I have over a hundred - almost all antiques! What is all this going on? Why do I jump for joy during a power outage???

Vanilla!

That's my favorite....

I may just rub the candle on myself before I burn it....The smell is wonderful!

But, I burn all type of scents....I also burn lots of incense...Sandalwood is my favorite there!

I love Vanilla candles!

Also cinnamon and apple, sandalwood has long been my favorite sent in incense, so it was obvious that I would love it in candles too.

I made candles when I was younger - several different kinds, the ones that you roll around a wick using sheets of honeycombed wax and then poured melted paraffin into the center to hold the wick secure throughout the burning process - I cut sheets of brown honeycomb and shaped my candles into pine cones - yes, I used a pine scent.

Then one of my favorites because it was easy and a lot of fun to make - take one empty milk cartoon - smash a lot of ice with a hammer - you don't want the pieces to be too small - then you pour hot wax into the milk cartoon filled with crushed ice with a wick in the center - I used very little coloring in several different colors so when unlit the candle looks white after you tear the milk cartoon away - but as it burns the flame is visible from within and the colors begin to show more it is amazing to watch one burn.

So guess what - I am one more - we may all be different but in so many ways we are also all alike.

Love ya,

Sally

Hi Berni -

Since everyone moved out of the house (and being on HRT for 3 months) my fondness for candles is becoming a habit.

I was out today at Pier One and Ikea and picked up a dozen tall candles as well as a couple of hundred little candles.

I am looking for a shelf that will work in the bathroom so when I take a bath, I can have candle light rather than regular lighting. I have also set up six candles on the fireplace mantle and when I am relaxing and watching a movie, I light them.

Just be careful where you place them. At an apartment complex that I used to work at, a young lady placed a scented candle in her clothes closet so her clothing would smell nice. Needless to say, the resulting fire gutted the entire apartment.

I luv candles!

I burn my strawberry scented one from time to time :)

They have a serene and calming effect to me, great to relax by listening to music or reading a good book.

Also a great way to shrug off a days stress! :D

Quite true.  The amusing thing about opposites is how similar they can be.   My family left Greece because of the conflict between the communists and the militarists/fascists.

This wouldn't even be a problem if they would just leave us alone.  It is a no-brainer.

OMG.  I'm glad it wasn't worse, and you were able to get on it quickly.  Lots of blood can be scary.

Like I said, I'm no tankie, but I do see a world of difference between Joseph Stalin and Bernie Sanders.   If the point is not wanting 'government control' the Right is pretty good at that themselves - as they've been demonstrating lately. This stuff gets complicated.

So, I am curious. Is the Governor going to mandate vaginal or penile recognition photos before one enters the restroom? Considering the Governor has no balls to do the right thing, will he have to pee against a tree outside? Inquiring minds would like to know. I love it when the job recruiters contact me about the wonderful jobs available in Oklahoma. It is so much fun telling them there is no way I will ever go to Oklahoma. When there are no workers, then they can shutter the place.

Ngl, probably Sonic the Hedgehog, the Beatles, or the Monkees. Those are the three subjects I know the most about so I could drop hours of info on them.

Thank you! I'm out of coffee so I have been drinking hot tea instead. Looking forward to the 1st. It's crazy that we are almost in May. This year has flown by really quick! Good to hear that y'all got to sleep in. Hope you have a good weekend too!

It's nice to care about others but you need to live your life as you please. No one be your only source of happiness. Love yourself and don't look back. I lost over 40 family members it hurts but apparently, they didn't truly love me. True love will always be there through the thick and thin. I can honestly say that HRT has made me think in ways that I never thought I would. I get myself some shoes or clothes every month because retail therapy not only helps but it is a reward to myself to show love. I have over 100 dresses. I have a whole walk-in-closet full of clothes and 67 pairs of shoes. I love who I am. I was born in 84 so not all people in the 80's think that way. As far as the name just take your time and be happy with it. I knew I loved the name Ashley. Take care and welcome!

WOW @Ashley0616 it’s good that you have skills to treat traumatic injuries, as well as the ability to remain calm while managing others needs to get yourself and the boys ready to go to the hospital. Proud mama bear skills. I’m glad that he’s doing well.    Meanwhile back at the ranch, we slept in and I’m just now finishing my 3rd cup of coffee.    Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well yesterday was not fun. I was getting ready to make dinner and I hear screaming and crying. I look over and my son put his foot through glass. He gashed near his Achilles tendon. Thankfully that is intact. I didn't freeze for a second. All of my military training came into play. I doctored him up and got Jett ready and myself and we headed to the ER. He is doing ok today. He says he is in pain but doesn't need Tylenol. He is a tough cookie!

Hi,   It's seems today is my trans birthday.  I'm beyond excited. Just picked up my testogel from the pharmacy. Although I naturally have doubts as I'm sure do we all, they are rapidly disappearing. Yesterday I was so nervous I kept claiming I'm not trans, despite grinning like a fool knowing I can pick up my prescription the next day. I'm shaking and on the verge of happy tears. I will put on my first sachet this eve. Thanks so much to this forum and kind words from people. This is the first forum I found when I began seriously questioning.
