I'm not sure that there is a category for me.

I am a heterosexual man, age 45, married, three children.

I enjoy wearing women's clothing. However, I have no desire to transition.

Also, I can't seem to take the time necessary to pass as a female. I am a very hairy man, and i have a full beard. It just seems like too much trouble to shave everything. Additionally, I don't want to take the time necessary, nor go to the expense of clothing and make-up that would be required for any reasonable transformation.

I feel quite happy and content wearing a skirt,...and maybe a top to go with it. No bra, make-up, special shoes, or shaving. I simply enjoy wearing a skirt or dress. I enjoy the softer fabrics. I enjoy the variety of colors, prints, and feminine design. I identify as a male. Yet, I do not find myself sexually aroused by wearing women's clothing.

Maybe I am simply intrigued by the incongruity of what appears to be a fairly rugged guy, who likes to feel soft and pretty.

My wife knows about all of this. She doesn't embrace it,...but she accepts it. Perhaps, one day, she will understand that how I dress is no threat to how I feel about her.

Yes - I have talked with my friend Mia about that - just a few items seem affirmation enough for her. I now undrstand it I think, although it was a bit different for me.

You like things 'feminine' to show as a softer side of you. I on the other hand wear things to affirm to myself I am female. Subtle difference? NO - a very BIG difference.

So you are just fine as you are. And if it works, then go with it! Don't feel out of place here at Laura's - we are all classified 'gender dysphoric,' but someday? Wearing a skirt, carrying a purse, wearing your hair long? Maybe it will be considered a normal part of self expression - no criticising, no labels.

See? That is just what we talk about ...go as far on the gender scale as you feel comfortable and stop there and that seems as if that's what you've done!

Good for you - it isn't all about transitioning here but a good deal of questions center around it because it is permanent and not to be entered into lightly.

Yes dressing can make you feel really good about yourself and if you are happy without removing a lot of hair - that is fine, it is all a part of you and all of this is really about feelong good about ourselves.

Melody, cross dressing can take many forms, and men who enjoy it have different needs, different tastes,

and different expectations. There is no right or wrong about it. Whatever brings you joy and happiness

is right for you.

I'm glad to hear that your wife is at least tolerant. That is a big plus. Try not to push her outside her comfort

zone, and you should be OK.
