Dear all Guitarists :)

I just wanted to share with you some things that I have learned :)

I have gone the Marshall Stack route. I know the awesomness of a Marshall turned up all the way. I know the lightning.

Four twelve cabinets are awesome. Nothing sounds better.

I have Vox amps, Fender Amps, Marshall, Carvin, and Line 6 amps. I have had Gibson Les-Pauls and SG series Guitars. Fenders and Ibanez are also part of my history.

I want to share with you an incredible sound and practicality if you are now in the situtation I am in where I have to carry my equipment to the jam sessions.

My Amp of choice now is a Roland CUBE (80X). My Guitar (as it has been for years) is a modified Fender Stratocaster. I put a Seymore Duncan Dual-coil humbucker in the bridge position (nothing is better for metal). When I have the switch position of my Guitar (Priscilla) set to activate the standard strat pickups in the neck and the middle positions and I have my Roland set on "Brit Combo" (Vox AC-30 emulation) I can get the sound of Stevie Ray Vaughn :)

When I have the switch setting of Priscilla set to the bridge pickup (the Seymore Duncan) and I have the Roland Amp set to "R-Fier" (Mesa Boogie Amp emlation) I can get the most awesome metal sounds imaginable!!

Simply put, after all the amps and guitars I have journeyed through. I have found that a strat with a dual-coil humbucker in the bridge position and the Roland CUBE 80X amp the most versatile. I cnn get any sound that I want. The Roalnd amp is built around a single 12 inch speaker, but dang does it deliver!!!!

The cost, simplicity, size and weight, and sound make this amp a godsend :)

If you need power, sound, affordability, and portability, get the Roland 80X Amp!!! You will not be dissapointed :)

I just carry my trumpet in a gig bag with a Flugelhorn and all of my mutes - they never put a mic in front of me so I don't worry about amps!

I have noticed that more and more bass players and guitar players are moving to the smaller amps.

Recently I have been using a Gretsch, Duo Jet with Bigsby, Relic, DynaSonic Pickups :) I would like to try a new amp, I've got a deal with a friend that runs the music place up the street, i can pretty much borrow anything i want from there.

Oh my, Brenii (Hee Hee).....

So many years ...so much gear....

Currently my No1 axe is my classic 1967 Rickenbacker 360..3 pickups (all original)...

But, I've owned, Gretch, Les Paus, old Gibson flying "V", Kent custom...SG, Strat...lots of kool stuff...

I also have a Vox 12 string acoustic with a built in pickup...

A Lyle..(beater..by beach guitar)

My banjo and 2 fiddles and an all steel Dobro....

I've owned A fender Showman amp...2 Ampegs, a Peavy Heritage, and my current amp a Peavy 200 watt with 2 Black Widow speakers (huge magnets) and I had to install casters on it because of the weight!

I never got to own a Marshall stack (lucky you!)

Honey....we need to rent a semi to move our gear!

You know,

I completely spaced to comment that this amp also has the sweetest clean sounds too!!! It has an acoustic and other clean settings that can make your electric guitar sound just like an acoustic guitar :)

I am not a fan of solid state. My Music Man r65 combined with a customized strat I acquired last summer is a total beast. (I traded my Takamine ltd-89 for an american strat that the original owner modified heavily - somehow he got copper wiring manufactured in the 50's, rewound the pickups with it and reeired the guitar with that wire as well - then put heavy springs on the bridge and adjusted individual post heights on the pickups)

I can usually play anywhere without having to go through the PA with this rig - even feeds back right on cue. (I play punk - feedback is important for me to be able to control and generate at will).

I don't think I have encountered what I would consider the equal of a Music Man tube amp... by far the best make out there as far as I am concerned... and the r65 is especially good.

Your rig sounds awesome!! I too was a die hard "tube" only amp devotee. For me, nothing is better than tubes. One problem now for me, I can't lift anything heavier than 30 lbs.

All I can say is that I was pleasantly surprised by the CUBE amp. As you know, when it comes right down to it. Your sound is what is important.

You got it, go with it :)

Both of my Peavys are tube amps....

I got them because I love the compression that you can get with tubes...

No fan of solid state, myself...

I don't have anything that is worth using on stage.

I've got a Peavey Raptor (Strat clone), a Fender Showmaster and a Dean Metalman V bass.

I just have 2 Peavey amps. They do me just fine.

I love the sound I get out of my EMG laden randy rhoads style v, it's an arbor guitar. Old and beat up but dang it plays nice. Fat neck and the tension is medium. I use the Peavy Vyper 15 watt amp and I do have a jackson cobalt V guitar but it would sound way better with the emgs in it lol. I can just crank on that amp, it's pretty friggen sweet :D

I have to stand across from our guitars player's triple Marshall stacks in our jam studio now. All I can say is my SWR SM 900's rack takes care of things from the low end here. We really do try and control the volume wars, remember dynamics :D

The Marshall's can be devastating at a 3 in certain ranges :blink:

      Thank you! So do I! Although I'm proud of what it portrays, I don't wear it often because I think it could be taken as being a bit provocative.       Welcome @gizgizgizzie, It’s nice to have you in the fold. We are a very diverse group so you’ll fit in just fine. Right now, society at large is getting bombarded with misinformation, bait and switch tactics, propaganda and lies so it’s no wonder no one can get it right. I don’t come out and explain things about my gender identity as much these days but when I do it’s amazing how little these people know about our transgender community in 2024.   Thanks for sharing a little about yourself.       Speaking of hair days…for me, hair has always been the part of my presentation that had the most impact on my overall view of myself. It was much worse for me earlier in my transition. I enjoy experimenting with new hair styles so once in a while, I’ll end up completely redoing my hair because it somehow reminded me of my old self. Self image is a strange yet powerful thing and it take a lot of time and effort to change it.
